Still says 55 plus but two friends have just done it aged 51. They are always a couple of days late to update the front page. Give it a go if you fit criteria- still not quite at my age range.

54 here, got my call today, booked in on Saturday, DH same booked in next week, friend 55 had it done today, other friend 55 got her invite last week but hasn’t booked it yet.

MsAwesomeDragon · 16/03/2021 19:23

Dh can't book yet and he's 52. We tried this afternoon. So it's not all areas. But I'm sure it won't be long here either.

Calmdown14 · 16/03/2021 19:46

If you get the message about a missed appointment, try on a different device. Know a few people that's happened too but they've gone on laptop rather than phone and booked no problem

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 16/03/2021 20:00

I do wonder if that's true about people being told to go away, your date of birth is essential to book so it seems very odd for this to happen.
@LindainLockdown - definitely happened to the person I know, they were quite sheepish - but tbh I think this was a few weeks ago so still midst high priority groups and they were early 50s.

user1494050295 · 16/03/2021 20:07

Yep text on Friday booked for Thursday loads of my friends in my area had the same it’s really promising

Well I'm sorry they had that experience, totally unnecessary to publicly humiliate someone who had been allowed by the system to book. If they were still in one of the highest priority groups what difference does a few weeks make really.
Acesulfame · 16/03/2021 21:16

43, North-West, booked in for Saturday.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 16/03/2021 21:21

@LindainLockdown - no you misunderstand - they got hold of a vax centre link - they were not priority group, but thought they would book themselves on. This was a few weeks back when it was still groups 1 - 6. And tbh they weren't "publicly humiliated" they were told no, you're not in a priority group.

IloveJKRowling · 16/03/2021 21:29

My children's secondary schools are getting cases again, so it feels a race against the clock now...

Yes, same (except primary not secondary).

I will be royally fucked off if we get covid because of 3 weeks of school without the option to keep them off without fines. I'm 47 with underlying health conditions (that don't bump me up the list but might make me more vulnerable) and i have never, ever wanted to be 3 years older as much as I do now (no, not even when I was 16!)

phlebasconsidered · 16/03/2021 21:37

My area has just dropped to 60 - 65. Woohoo!

Vaccine distribution seems mostly concentrated urbanly.

phlebasconsidered · 16/03/2021 21:41

@IloveJKRowling this area too- our rate has shot up. We are officially a hotspot, we have bubbles popping all over the shop and this 49 year old asthmatic teacher is still not vaccinated. Our rates are higher than London but our centre ran out of vaccine. They are still on the 60's and most vulnerable- and because of shortages it is really strict. I'd be vaccinated in the next catchment but not this one.

HSHorror · 16/03/2021 21:58

It's really all about whether they will get to 40s before second doses are due.
The telegraph had a chart with showing the new vaxs not really moving at all once the second ones start.
Which doesnt really match with the newspapers saying 40s would be done soon. Or with the idea that there will be extra supply etc when that starts.
There will also be the new jabs i guess.
But if it does stop/slow a lot then i'll be stuck unvaccinated when absolutely everything has reopened.

Tbh im not even keen on that for kids.
Our dc school has been saying to them everything is being relaxed. Which is silly imo as this gov messed everything up (except maybe vax).
I think 30s could be quite put off by all the eu stuff re the jabs.

Stopsnowing · 16/03/2021 21:59

Wow. Just worked for me! Appointment at 8am tomorrow

SaltedCaramelPopcorn · 16/03/2021 22:05

51 and booked earlier today

Walksallday · 16/03/2021 22:10

I received a message today that I am eligible for a vaccine as I’m a volunteer with a local charity. I called the phone number and explained I’m a irregular volunteer, 43 and no vulnerabilities so I don’t want to jumped the queue. However, I’ll gladly take it if I’m allowed. The lovely lady on the phone offered me an appointment for tomorrow morning! I could choose a time slot so it sounds like they had lots of availability.

I’m glad I’ve got both appointments in now , about a month earlier than I had expected.

There's due to be a significant increase in the supply of vaccine from this week- which will increase the rate of all vaccinations to make sure it can cover first and second doses.

All our local vaccine centres said last week they could be doing much more if they had more supply- which is coming.

1starwars2 · 17/03/2021 08:15

My 49 and half year old DH got his text yesterday and is booked in for the weekend.
We are really pleased and although we have been keeping an eye on things weren't expecting it yet.
It's with the Dr's rather than the mass vaccination centre though.

Pushkinia · 17/03/2021 08:20

I’m 53 and still get “not eligible”. All the 119 helpline can suggest is waiting 48 hours for the site to update and then it “might” work. It looks like North East England is one of the last areas to be added to the national booking site.

NightOwl19 · 17/03/2021 08:24

In my local area my GP has been sending texts/letters to all age criteria, a relative has had his and he's in his early 20s with no underlying health problems

DavidsSchitt · 17/03/2021 08:39

"In the NW.
DS told us that a local hub was vaccinating anyone 50+ who turned up - no appointment needed."

Then why aren't they doing this with group 6 in the NW? Many of us still unvaccinated

TheOrigRights · 17/03/2021 08:47

I'm 50 and have booked my first dose for 27th March.
My 52 year old sister (different area) has also booked hers.

IloveJKRowling · 17/03/2021 09:16

@phlebasconsidered that's awful, I do think teachers should be a priority - especially those over 40 or any with any underlying conditions (even mild ones).

Rates are going to shoot up among kids now schools are open, if they don't act soon to protect those adult populations in direct contact with these kids (teachers, parents, childcare workers) then we could easily end up with a 4th wave, a new variant taking off, or both. There simply aren't enough people vaccinated in this demographic (adults in contact with kids) - who go out to work and move around a lot. School runs, childcare etc. The potential for transmission is huge.

And my DD's year 6 class is 30 crammed in together with no masks. :(

Pearl97 · 17/03/2021 09:22

It’s definitely moved to over 50’s on the front page now

IpanemaNova · 17/03/2021 09:42

As desperate as I am for mine (as a wheezy person), I also think teachers should have been priority. We had a confirmed case at our secondary yesterday.
