Try this link you answer saying you don’t know if have any of the CEV conditions but then it lets you book if you’re in CV ie Group 6. Far quicker than waiting for GP’s to contact Grp 6.

Thanks op, I’ve just booked mine! I actually answered no to the CEV question and it still let me book. Presume I’ve been added by GP

Update this morning - the National Booking service now includes in it's eligibility criteria:

Who can use this service
You can only use this service if any of the following apply:

you are aged 60 or over
you are at high risk from coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable)
you are an eligible frontline health or social care worker
you have a condition that puts you at higher risk (clinically vulnerable)
you are a main carer for someone at high risk from coronavirus

I tried to book online but it still wouldn't allow me, so I tried calling 119 and whilst I was on hold, I had a text from my GP inviting me to book, so I'm booked for next Weds! So very happy.

I think it's worth Group 6 trying again, either online or maybe via 119 as it's looks like we're now included in the National Booking service.

Jaxx · 04/03/2021 09:44

I am in group 6, (confirmed by GP) but haven’t received a text and can’t book online yet.

I called 119 but they couldn’t help. They asked if I was a carer so think their access is no different to the online system.

Will keep trying. Thanks for the tip.

vickibee · 04/03/2021 09:45

I am on hold to 119 as we speak - No joy here unpaid carer not eligible

Akire · 04/03/2021 09:49

No joy but can’t remember what I decided a few years back about data sharing. May have said no so could affect if I can use system?

vickibee · 04/03/2021 10:01

I have just phoned my GP as instructed by 119 service and they are saying I am recorded as a carer and cant understand the issue. They kindlyi said they had a few vials left over and can I go up this afternoon for the Oxford one :)

WombatChocolate · 04/03/2021 10:05

Edwin, that is good news.

People in group 6 have been managing to book on the national site for the last couple of days. I guess they have to update records behind the scenes and only update the front page once that’s completed...no point doing so, if not everyone will actually be able to book that their page says can.

That’s why every group should keep checking when they are the next ones....because behind the scenes, eligibility is being adjusted and it’s possible to book before the front page is updated as they would rather than be cautious than jump the gun and face loads of people who are shown as eligible not being able to book.

PleaseHoldCaller1 · 04/03/2021 10:19

Thank you so much OP - I am group 6 but haven't heard from GP and when I tried the link last week it wouldn't work. Was able to book straight away today and my appointment is on Monday morning. I am so happy and relieved that I feel a bit tearful!

Oaktree55 · 04/03/2021 10:33

Might be worth those still not able to book on line (if eligible) to stalk their local hubs. This is one example of a hub allowing walk ins with supporting evidence as they were so quiet. Hubs now might be busier as 2nd doses are kicking in but from what I hear they nearly always have left overs towards the end of the days due to no shows etc. Worth a thought perhaps searching local news etc. Also a hub vaxed my dad who accompanied my mum for her appointment even though he wasn’t booked in. They were happy to do so (he was eligible just not booked). Appointments towards the end of the day seem to facilitate more flexibility like this as they know how much spare they have.

What exactly is the criteria? I’ve just booked me - no health issues, not in a danger group, not overweight... then tried to book for DH - older, should be higher up the queue than me, and ‘computer says no’. Eh?

Oaktree55 · 04/03/2021 10:50

@Liquorishtoffee it’s meant to be Groups up to 7, with Group 6 seemingly released to book when coded. I’d hazard a guess it’s a coding error, but given the availability I’d personally go ahead!

@HippoNamedBooBooButt

Nor me - it says i have missed my first appointment and need to book both again, and when I click continue to do that, it says I'm not eligible to use the service.

I've not had an appointment to miss!

I had this. I had my first as a walk in rather than an appointment and then was unable to book my second as it kept saying I had missed my second appointment. It took about a week or so and then the system found me and I was able to book my second (due in April).
Liquorishtoffee · 04/03/2021 10:54

Gosh - should I though? Am I taking a slot (although there were many open? from someone else?

Oaktree55 · 04/03/2021 11:02

@Liquorishtoffee if you live anywhere like where I do you definitely won’t be taking a slot away from somebody! Getting vax helps community anyway since it’s showing both vaccines help stop spread.

Woohoo!

EnjoyingTheArmoire · 04/03/2021 11:52

Thank you for the update!

I am Group 6 and could now book on the National System, but the nearest one is a considerable distance and I don't drive, so will be waiting for my GP to contact me with local availability.

paintedwall · 04/03/2021 17:18

I booked my Group 6 vaccine online last week and I had it today (with my DS who is also Group 6). The vaccine centre was a bit chaotic (4 different people to answer questions to, in 4 different booths) and we had to queue outside in the cold for 20 mins, but overall I'm relieved it's done! No side effects so far. We both had the Astra Zeneca.

RoseWineTime · 04/03/2021 17:42

I didn’t know I was in group 6 - in fact GP had said not a few weeks ago in spite of various co-morbidities - but just had a call from the surgery to book me in. Also checked online and can now book on there too!

Shocked202 · 04/03/2021 18:28

My dad has managed to book his today through the online booking. It says over 60s however he is 58 and he is not ECV, he has no health conditions only high blood pressure in the past ? He hasn’t been told he is group 6 My mum is a day older than him with no conditions but she isn’t able to book.

WombatChocolate · 04/03/2021 19:07

It always starts allowing the next age group through before the front page updates. It is likely it is letting the upper 50s book. If it lets him through, he’s eligible.

Good to think they are moving through the ages....thats group 8 if they are now letting over 50s through. What will happen is the letters will start to be posted and the front page will be updated in a few days...it’s a way of managing it so the age group realise to book at slightly different points so it’s not overwhelmed.
