Try this link you answer saying you don’t know if have any of the CEV conditions but then it lets you book if you’re in CV ie Group 6. Far quicker than waiting for GP’s to contact Grp 6.

Oh my gosh, thanks so much for this. I've been able to book for Thursday! I am 57, but with a condition, but have not really been in touch with my GP the last year or so. I thought I would have a long wait.

I thought in my area they were only taking over 60s.

It must be that my condition is stored in my national NHS records, then?

DH is a similar age (but with no conditions). I will get him to try too, but I am assuming he will be unsuccessful then?

WombatChocolate · 02/03/2021 17:29

Pemba, if your DHbis able to book, please come back and let us know as that will indicate they are letting younger people book, even if the front page doesn't say so.

It seems quite hit and miss with Group 6 being able to access the national booking site and some will be finding they are now eligible based on age criteria not CV. But it also sounds like some younger CV people are getting through when they weren't before, which is good.

Most of the younger CV have conditions which won't prevent them travelling to a bigger centres a bit further away, so they should do so if they can and not wait for more local. It is this which will mean they personally are vaccinated as soon as poss, but alsonthatbtheboist keeps moving and other people can be jabbed sooner too.

Ponoka7 · 02/03/2021 17:29

@HippoNamedBooBooButt, that usually means that your GP has generated a letter for you. They might send a text with a link to book, soon.

Pemba · 02/03/2021 17:43

OK, so DH tried (he's 59) but it started asking him different questions, like did he work in Health and Social Care for vulnerable people, to which he answered no. It then said he wasn't eligible. He is a teacher though, going back next week. Oh well, I am sure it won't be long for him hopefully.

The difference must be my health problem, I suppose.

RoobyMyrtle · 02/03/2021 17:54

Those who couldn't do it earlier, keep trying. I've got mine booked in now after it said I wasn't eligible before. Going to cost me a fortune in taxis as the centre is a long way away and I can't drive but I'm happy it's booked. Hopefully the gp will give me an appointment for a more convenient place soon and I can cancel this one

WombatChocolate · 02/03/2021 17:56

Thanks Pemba.
I suspect by next week he will be able to use the system. It will suddenly allow more people through even though there have been no announcements or the front page changed, so worth looking and inputting his details every few days just to see.

It's good news for Group 6 people that there might be 2 routes now....book online or wait for the GP. Who knows which will result in quiets vaccination for each person, but Group 6 who are anxious will start to feel a bit of control of it if they can go online and book as other people have.

Bedforme · 02/03/2021 17:58

Just had another go and able to book. Second one was a bit difficult as it wouldn’t accept it, then made me rebook the first. Now have the confirmation text, relieved!

Bedforme · 02/03/2021 18:00

I did the online because my dad did (CEV) and got both dates. My mum went through the GP and doesn’t know when she will get second one.

Liquorishtoffee · 02/03/2021 18:02

My gender?? - how in any way is this relevant here when they don’t ask my sex?

VivaLeBeaver · 02/03/2021 18:05

Thank you so much. Dd is booked!

I find more out about booking vaccinations through Mumsnet than any other way

DinosaurDiana · 02/03/2021 18:09

It worked for my DD with asthma - thank you 🙏🏻 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Pemba · 02/03/2021 18:10

Our local hospital says you have to bring a shielding letter or you will not be vaccinated.

But this appointment for me is at a local pharmacy, and they have just told me to bring a facemask and the booking reference (on the email and text). I hope I won't be turned away!

I have not received any shielding letter though. The thing is we moved just before lockdown last year, and the GP still has me down at the previous address (not far away), so it could be that they did send me a letter, but it went astray (even tho we have Royal Mail redirection). But they must have me flagged as group 6 on my NHS record? I'm guessing.

joystir59 · 02/03/2021 18:10

Anyone 60+ can book a vaccination now

ChunkyMonkey2020 · 02/03/2021 18:18

I'm severely overweight. Does this mean that I can book a vaccine??

sylbunny · 02/03/2021 18:33

Oh it'll let me book that's exciting! I'm grip 6 but I'm pregnant so I'll still have to wait a few more weeks but good to know I can when I'm ready!

VivaLeBeaver · 02/03/2021 18:33

Try it. I think you should be in category 6 if bmi is over 40?
Akire · 02/03/2021 18:47

Group 6 have not been shielding. Shielding was group 4

DogInATent · 02/03/2021 18:57

The missed 1st appointment message appears if you go through the system and do not book an appointment the next time you go into the system. Presumably because you didn't complete the booking process.

Beeeees · 02/03/2021 18:58

I might contact my GP if it doesn't work in a few days. I hope there's something official I can quote by then in case they don't understand MN is more accurate than the website!

Tittyfilarious · 02/03/2021 19:00

I've managed to book and I'm overweight I rang my gp and they said my gp is putting anyone with high bmi as group 6 so I'm in the system, put your name and date of birth in and it will put you through of you've been put in group 6.
Tigerswife · 02/03/2021 19:09

Just tried in now, got booked for me and Hubby Group 6

EcoCustard · 02/03/2021 19:45

I had a letter telling me to shield on Friday then a letter on Saturday to say I will be advised to book for the jab soon. That letter arrived yesterday and went online to book my jab for this Saturday. Doesn’t say why but I presume it is because I previously had gestational diabetes. I had the option to wait for my GP. Both jabs booked. Surprised as I figured I would be way down the list in the last remaining groups.

VivaLeBeaver · 02/03/2021 20:28

@Akire

It depends. Shielding was recently expanded and Dd is in group 6 but has been told to shield. But according to the green book she’s still in group 6.
Akire · 02/03/2021 20:47

I meant In response to a poster saying she told being sheilding letter. When not everyone has had.
