Anyone in their 50s (no health issues) getting theirs yet?

I know 3 people in their mid 50s who have been given appointments (next week or so) for their first jab. No health issues or partners/family in risk groups.

Are they that far down the list already?

I'm having mine next week.
I'm 58 and no underlying conditions
I read on MN yesterdat that anybody over 60 can now book online, so I thought I'd try my luck seeing as I'm nearly 60 and Bingo!
It gave me an appointment for the first AND second jab.
I now feel a bit guilty because the website said 65 and over and I'm only 58.
I hope I'm not jumping the queue Blush
But I put in my correct birthday and I clearly stated I had no underlying conditions so it wouldn't have accepted me if I'm the wrong age.
Would it????

I had mine, day before 56th birthday. Very puzzled as to why I got invited. No underlying health conditions. Cancer scare in early 30s so lots of tests but all clear.

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 25/02/2021 21:09

If you're over 60 lots of areas are letting you book on the online NHS booking platform. Type in your NHS number and answer all the questions honestly, and as you are over 60 you should be able to get it. My Dad is 60 and booked online yesterday, he had his jab today. My Mum (55 years old) went along with him and they offered her a wastage vaccine because it was near the end of the day and some people hadn't turned up for their appointment.

LizzieSiddal · 25/02/2021 21:13

My GPs are doing over 50s, this week. They’ve been ahead of other areas all the other way through this. I think they are just ultra organised, but it’s got nothing to do with “pointy elbows”.

LizzieSiddal · 25/02/2021 21:14

And I’m in my 50s, had mine last week as we are helping to care for my MIL who has cancer. So again not “pointy elbows”.

TomorrowIsAnotherDae · 25/02/2021 21:21

I was offered mine today via GP. I'm 54. No underlying physical health conditions. Either they have reached the 50's age group or my chronic MH condition means I'm slightly ahead of others? (I think GP's can use their own judgement re: patients) I don't care which, I'm just happy to be getting my first dose. I'm getting the AZ one at my surgery.

BikeRunSki · 25/02/2021 21:23

50, nothing here yet, just a “don’t call us, we’ll call you”, message from the GP.

anothertimeanotherday · 25/02/2021 21:29

Mi husband who is mid 50 got a text from GP last week and had his vaccine a day after. No sharp elbows☺️

Pranct · 25/02/2021 21:30

The worst thing is someone gets called to book and wastes time questioning people who have got plenty to work through. Personal medical records are private and maybe some people don’t like to explain to all and sundry why they have been called.

poppycat10 · 25/02/2021 21:31

My DH is 58 so he might be called soon. I am not sure where they are in my area, the youngest person I know who's had it is about 65 (without health conditions).

DeborahHarry · 25/02/2021 21:31

@Liquorishtoffee

I’m wondering if it’s pointy elbows! One person is on the same council as us but it’s over 65s! Unless he’s been fibbing to us a kit his age!
Pointy elbows?

Really?

You don't get to choose when it's your turn FFS.

If someone younger than you is getting it there's every chance there's something about their medical history/personal circs that means they are entitled to get it.

I am getting mine next Friday. I am 48 but I had breast cancer 4 years ago. Hardly anyone knows I had breast cancer and I imagine that if they found out I was getting my vaccine net week some people would be just as snippy as you OP.

Theworldisfullofgs · 25/02/2021 21:32

Nope.

DH appt on Saturday but has underlying condition.

Dowser · 25/02/2021 21:37

Cousin and dh mud 50s had theirs in London two weeks ago
( both very poorly after ..oops)

Dowser · 25/02/2021 21:39

Cousin dh was waiting for her at vac centre
Place was deserted and she asked if ge could have his
So he did

emmetgirl · 25/02/2021 21:40

Yes I'm 54 and getting mine tomorrow- I'm right at the very bottom of Cornwall.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 25/02/2021 21:40

My husband 54 got the text to book this week

My London borough and two neighbouring boroughs are now doing group 9. So people in 50s. They are however still working through cev group and any older people that still aren't done.

Oilyvoir · 25/02/2021 21:41

Yes - 55, no underlying health conditions, not seen my gp in years. Had mine 2 weeks ago. Lodger who is 38 and has asthma had his last week. We are a West London borough with low take up so they seem to be racing through them.

DinosaurDiana · 25/02/2021 21:41

@time4anotnername
No, unfortunately his DF claims the allowance so my DH can’t book.
He is registered as a carer with the GP so is at the mercy of them.

recluse · 25/02/2021 21:41

I am 52, no health conditions, and had my first jab today - North West London.

Kintsugi16 · 25/02/2021 21:43

DH is early 50’s and had his a week ago
No particular health issues. I think we’re ahead of the game in our area.

gonnabeok · 25/02/2021 21:45

I'm 51 and I had a request to book my vaccine this week.

crimsonlake · 25/02/2021 21:49

North West sister is nearly 65 and has heard nothing. Seems it is a postcode lorrery.

Figmentofmyimagination · 25/02/2021 21:49

I’m getting mine on Saturday. 57 and I get called for an annual maintenance appointment for my mild and well controlled asthma, so I guess that’s why. I have some other health issues too but I can’t imagine they will have pushed me up the list.

Botanicals · 25/02/2021 21:50

Three friends have had theirs last week 51-54 but a vulnerable relative in the same area has still not been vaccinated. I don’t understand it and have emailed their GP.

Spillanelle · 25/02/2021 21:52

My parents are 59 and 60 and have both been able to book theirs for Monday. North West.
