Anyone in their 50s (no health issues) getting theirs yet?

Liquorishtoffee · 25/02/2021 17:55

I know 3 people in their mid 50s who have been given appointments (next week or so) for their first jab. No health issues or partners/family in risk groups.

Are they that far down the list already?

I don't meet the criteria on that Link @MaudesMum. It is for 64 and over.

Who can use this service

You can only use this service if any of the following apply:

you are aged 64 or over
you have previously received a letter saying you are at high risk from coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable)
you are an eligible frontline health worker
you are an eligible frontline social care worker
you are eligible for Carer's Allowance
TheByngster · 25/02/2021 21:58

I have. 51. No health issues. No idea why I was called.

Spillanelle · 25/02/2021 22:00

@RampantIvy - seems like the front page hasn’t been updated, I think maybe because they aren’t up to the same stage in every area.
Just put your details in and if you’re not eligible yet in your area it will stop you, if you are eligible it’ll give you a choice of centres/appointments.
My parents are 59 and 60 and have been able to book theirs via that link. Plenty of appointments available in the mass centre near them.

Fifthtimelucky · 25/02/2021 22:00

Not yet. I'm 60 in a couple of weeks and am expecting to get a call/text/letter in the next couple of weeks.

JaninaDuszejko · 25/02/2021 22:01

BIL has had his, he's early 50s. Don't know if he's registered as DN's carer or if it's on his own merits since some areas are vaccinating people in their 50s. Delighted for him either way, can't understand why people are jealous of others getting the vaccine. The UK vaccine procurement and roll out has been fab.

Meanwhile at work people are very jealous that our American colleagues have been vaccinated but in the UK we aren't. Different priority list in the US (lots of key workers being done over there).

Notanotherfreak · 25/02/2021 22:03

I’m getting mine on Saturday, I’m 52, live in Oxford. Was very surprised to get it so soon.

Gadzookery · 25/02/2021 22:05

yes had mine last week - I'm mid fifties - was told by GP I was in a vulnerable group - which I'm sure I'm not, but wonder if for ease they lumped all the over 50s together in my area.

WorkHardPlayHard1 · 25/02/2021 22:12

I had mine 3 weeks ago and am 50. Lots of friends asking why first but I honestly have no idea. I live in NW and have no underlying health issues?
Am glad I had it but I was v poorly for 36 hours, high temp in the night, axe like pain to the head and very Achey.

Absolutely fine though after 36 hours.

I would recommend getting ready meals in, painkillers and little treats in case you feel rough for a couple of days xx

Pimlicojo · 25/02/2021 22:16

Yes, I'm in my mid 50s and had mine on Monday. No health conditions. I know several people locally in their 50s who have had theirs in the last week or so. I'm in London.

And no side effects. I'm seeing lots of posts on here about bad side effects. I had none.

Chelsea567 · 25/02/2021 22:20

DH 64 had his today. I'm 54 not heard yet but DH said lots of people younger than him there today.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 25/02/2021 22:27

A friend in her 50's, no health issues, is getting hers at the weekend - London/Kent borders.

yearinyearout · 25/02/2021 22:32

I know loads, even one age 46. Pretty pissed off as I have an underlying condition and still haven't been called.

The must be 64 is out of date.
Put in your name and date of birth and it will offer you a choice of dates.
I'm 58 and it gave me an appointment

RampantIvy · 26/02/2021 08:32

Thank you @likeamillpond

Mn753 · 27/02/2021 18:10

Anyone else?

poppycat10 · 27/02/2021 18:28

I have just checked for my 58 year old DH and it didn't let me book for him. I assume you come under another criteria millpond?

JanFebAnyMonth · 27/02/2021 18:36

I had mine today, no health issues. Our local centre was one of the first places to start so I can only assume they're still ahead.

yaboo · 27/02/2021 19:14

early 40's here... no underlying health conditions, not a carer or healthcare worker... they rang me friday, offered me a jab, and I'm booked in for sunday... clinic is in walking distance, too, lucky ole me... my OH has health problems, in his 50's, hasn't been offered it yet... he's fuming...

time4anothername · 27/02/2021 19:17

those who booked via the central link and are younger than 64 etc, was it OK when you turned up? Was anyone turned away for being too young?

Purpl · 27/02/2021 19:30

I’m late 40s no health issues previous history of anxiety and gP put me in group 6 I questioned it as bit ridiculous and they said no fine please book in. The GP get paid £10 for every person so I think they calling anyone with any form of issue on my area. They are doing 60s in main centre

Akire · 27/02/2021 19:33

Yes heard healthy 50s been offered, same area Shielding 50s not a word. Group 6 being left to GP so big centres are cracking on those in lower groups.

Redcrayons · 27/02/2021 19:33

I’ve heard quite a few 55 plus getting done. We seem to be whizzing through here.

PrincessNutNuts · 27/02/2021 19:57

In our family the over 65s are on the system and are waiting for nearer appointments rather than travel for an hour each way.

yearinyearout · 27/02/2021 21:15

I have some other health issues too but I can’t imagine they will have pushed me up the list.

You'd be surprised. Mild and well controlled asthma doesn't get you into group six but there are plenty of other health issues (even if you only suffered with them briefly as a child) that will get you on it.

BlackeyedSusan · 27/02/2021 21:20

We had a communication to the effect that they are now booking over fifties and sixties in our area. Came yesterday. Just got mine done for group 6 carer.
