And there is a few months to go are you worried about the relaxing of the rules? I’m worried as to how to protect myself..very worried I’ll catch it this time Sad

OP posts:
OrangeBananaFish · 25/02/2021 17:29

Not at all. 42YO with no underlying conditions also fairly fit as I'm a keen runner. I have never been worried about catching it, but totally understand that its different for everybody.

If they opened everything up now I'd be out there.

kunterbunting · 25/02/2021 17:29

@Jaxhog

Under 40’s with no health conditions are so so unlikely to be seriously ill.

But still very likely to give it to a vulnerable person. The vaccine isn't 100% effective you know, and most people haven't had the second jab yet.

So what are people supposed to do? Never leave their houses again until someone can guarantee that nothing bad will ever happen to anyone?

This kind of bonkers logic is what got us into this mess of lockdowns in the first place.

I have not had a vaccination yet. I could not be less worried if I tried. I can't wait for every single rule to be lifted completely. I am already looking forward to having a ritual burning of face masks.

Midlifephoenix · 25/02/2021 17:31

Just because rules are being relaxed (and more likely you will have the jab by the times they're really relaxed), you don't have to. If you feel anxious carry on as you are now. No one is forcing you to meet people or go to the shops.

noeffingwayyyy · 25/02/2021 17:34

Not worried, but I'll probably carry on being reasonably careful until I've had mine. So no crowded pubs or house parties for me (assuming those things are allowed!) but I will go and sit in a beer garden or go for dinner / coffee with friends.

1990shopefulftm · 25/02/2021 17:35

I m asthmatic but not ill enough to be in the priority group and as I m almost 26 I m just going to be cautious getting back out there as last time I got a viral chest infections I broke a rib.

I just want to go to a baby class and for friends and family to meet him ( I saw none of them when I was pregnant and after he was born we only saw people when it was allowed at Christmas expect for a friend with a baby we ve seen rarely as our support bubble) , won't be going to pubs or busy food places for a while.

This is mostly true in my case but I also recognise not everyone is as fortunate and won't have a choice - many people will have to go back to work before they've been jabbed if employers decide to stop WFH or when furlough ends.
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/02/2021 17:53

Oh... or go to your job? Or pay your mortgage? Yes, because you're anxious you should lose all access to society? FFS.

Wasn’t it the danger of hospitals collapsing under the strain of too many Covid patients that put us in lockdown? Not people too scared to leave their houses.

Monkeytennis97 · 25/02/2021 17:56

Yes worried.

2 secondary school teachers here, late 40s. Not the fittest pair either.

No sign of vaccine.

Mockolate · 25/02/2021 18:08

Not worried at all. I didn't worry when rules were relaxed last summer, and I am not worried now.

Same
I stuck completely to the rules, but didn't worry about catching it.
Didn't stop me going out for a drink in a beer garden, visiting friends or family (when it was the rule of 6) or wandering round the shops for example.
How we thought the rule of 6 outdoors or indoors was strict, little did we know, would love it to be back to that right now!
All restrictions lifted in June/July sounds absolutely brilliant (I'll still social distance etc and not go mad partying or whatever!) but not getting my hopes up, will believe it when I see it Smile

southeastdweller · 25/02/2021 18:12

I couldn’t give the shiniest of shits about getting it. There’s more chance of me getting ill from other things. The relaxing of the rules should be happening more quickly.

TableFlowerss · 25/02/2021 18:12

@Awalkintime

Yep I'm worried, I work in a school ECV and not eligible for the vaccine. Plus with being under 40, there is no chance I will get mine for months yet.

No distancing, no PPE, no masks just a wing and a prayer I don't catch it.

You can’t be ECV then if you’re not eligible for months....
2boysand1princess · 25/02/2021 18:18

@Lemons1571

I am scared shitless tbh. Fucking terrified. DH is a teacher late 40’s with underlying health stuff but no vaccine for a while according to gp as they are running behind. I am also a similar age, not the fittest, confirmed as group 6 but also no vaccine for a while from gp and the nhs online booking says not eligible yet.

I am literally shaking with the jitters as I wfh. There doesn’t seem to be any option except getting some tranquillisers or something. All because our area is a bit slow on rolling out the vaccine compared to some other hubs.

If you or your husband are group 6 you can get the vaccine. Trying calling 119. My friend couldn’t get the vaccine at her Gp surgery as they are struggling and are far behind with vaccinations. She is group 6 and managed to get her vaccine at another surgery by calling 119.

TableFlowerss

I can be and I am.

Octane · 25/02/2021 18:25

Not worried at all. I'm early-30s, not overweight and no underlying conditions. Only "vulnerable" people I spend time with are my parents and in-laws and they've all had their first jab a couple of weeks ago. The idea of things opening up gradually over the next 2/3/4 months sounds perfect to me!

MrBullinaChinaShop · 25/02/2021 18:26

I thought the ECV were in one of the top priority groups? Is your area particularly slow @Awalkintime?

Blackberrycream · 25/02/2021 18:28

That might work for carers, receiving carers allowance, I in group 6 but 119 can’t help cv group 6 as they have no access to the information.
@Lemons1571 I finally managed to get an appointment today. If you message me I might have some helpful information but don’t want to post it here.

GintyMcGinty · 25/02/2021 18:28

No am totally fed up and frustrated. I want life back.

FenceSplinters · 25/02/2021 18:28

Yes I’m worried. I’m CV and eagerly awaiting the call for my vaccine, but back in school full time next week, with full classes the following week. It is worrying for me.

FaithfullyYours · 25/02/2021 18:31

@Awalkintime
I booked mine through 119 as CV (group 6).
Basically option 1(calling from England)-2(coronavirus vaccine)-1(that you have been recognised as eligible)takes you to speak to an operator who can book you in based on your ECV letter.
Do try again if possible. Hope you get your jab soon!Flowers

Awalkintime · 25/02/2021 18:38

MrBullinaChinaShop

No they are onto group 6 now in my area....and even then I'm not eligible for some reason.

FaithfullyYours
Thank you I will try that and see if I have more success.

TableFlowerss · 25/02/2021 18:45

@Awalkintime

TableFlowerss

I can be and I am.

Well something doesn’t add up there then does it... 🤔
TableFlowerss · 25/02/2021 18:47

Either your lying (I assume you’re not obviously) or they’ve royally fucked up and there’s a mistake. If you are ECV you shouldn’t be waiting months!!

iceicesunsun · 25/02/2021 18:48

@southeastdweller

You're alright Jack. Nice. Are you always this selfish?
BustopherPonsonbyJones · 25/02/2021 18:58

I know I’ll get flamed for this, but I’m future I hope we can pay for the vaccine so those who are anxious (like me!) and believe they work in unsafe conditions (schools!) can be protected earlier. I’d pay a decent amount rather than go through this again and be forced to work when others stay safely at home. Hopefully, there will be some spare capacity.
