And there is a few months to go are you worried about the relaxing of the rules? I’m worried as to how to protect myself..very worried I’ll catch it this time Sad

OP posts:
Janeteapot · 25/02/2021 13:58

I'm worried. Not about death or even hospital admission, but trying to look after toddlers while ill or getting long COVID.

SchnitzelVonCrummsTum · 25/02/2021 13:59

@flappityflippers1 - you're allowed the jab when breastfeeding. I'm having it on the 6th March and I'm still feeding my son.

See:

XenoBitch · 25/02/2021 13:59

@Jackie2022

I’m not worried about resuming normal life or catching it

I am worried about this supposed vaccine passport; the young and healthy surely must make up a large % of the population. It would be ridiculous to establish such a system whilst a large group of people haven’t been offered the vaccine. We can’t even privately access the vaccine.

Same here. I can understand the need to have a vaccine to go to other countries, but the amount of people who are happy to be made to have vaccine to access supermarkets etc. It chills my blood.
Benhew · 25/02/2021 14:01

Yep I am worried. Family members are all discussing get togethers on the first permitted dates as all vaccinated. I am asthmatic and not group 6 but consider myself vulnerable so I am going to continue keeping myself to myself aside from work and school. It is creating a divide as people seem so relaxed and cannot understand how I feel now, despite them feeling similar only a few months ago!

lurker101 · 25/02/2021 14:03

I’m not worried at all. I’m likely near the bottom of the list as I’m young and have no known underlying conditions. I can’t wait to get back out and support the economy and those whose livelihoods have suffered, I have several restaurant bookings already. Those more vulnerable than me will have been vaccinated ahead of me, and I can’t wait to have the vaccine when it’s my turn.

Siennabear · 25/02/2021 14:03

No. I think I had it in January. Didn’t feel great, very fatigued but passed after a week.

nordica · 25/02/2021 14:05

Well I definitely think my risk of catching the virus will be higher during the period between restrictions easing and me eventually getting vaccinated because other people will no longer be careful in public spaces or maintain social distance because either they've had their first jabs or they are like many on this thread who think it doesn't matter if anyone healthy and under 50 catches it anyway...

AgeLikeWine · 25/02/2021 14:07

If you’re in a vulnerable group you will be vaccinated very soon, and the vaccines are highly effective. Problem solved.

If you’re not in a vulnerable group, the risk posed by covid is small, but not negligible (like travelling in a car), and you will be offered a vaccine when it’s your turn, so you have very little to worry about. Problem solved.

RubyWooRed · 25/02/2021 14:23

@FaithfullyYours

But still very likely to give it to a vulnerable person. The vaccine isn't 100% effective you know, and most people haven't had the second jab yet.

But someone categorised as vulnerable will have had the vaccine by the time rules are actually relaxed. And the majority of protection comes from the first jab.

Exactly
Starlive23 · 25/02/2021 14:26

I'm worried OP, I'm pregnant and will be cautious until both me and DH are vaccinated, I don't want to have been so careful this whole time and now get sick!

hamstersarse · 25/02/2021 14:28

There is not one cell in my body that is worried about things opening up

motherrunner · 25/02/2021 14:29

43 year old secondary school teacher. Am very worried.

Stovetopespresso · 25/02/2021 14:30

I'm a healty 48 yo. Quite near 50 obviously but not in any priority group. I'm working on being patient...
sure it would be a massive bummer to get it (I think I had it a year ago, not nice at all), and long covid sounds awful.
but I will just keep mindful/careful until I get jabbed, supermarket visits minimal, limited contacts etc.

it will come to me sooner or later and we are so blooming lucky.

sylbunny · 25/02/2021 14:32

Nope! I'm fat, pregnant and asthmatic and I had Covid about a month ago. It was a shit few weeks and I don't particularly want it again but it wasn't as bad as it could have been and certainly not life threatening in my case for me or my baby.

LaceyBetty · 25/02/2021 14:33

No. I've not had it yet because I am not vulnerable. Therefore, I am not worried.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/02/2021 14:33

Not at all. I'd go back to normal tomorrow if
I could. I'm not scared of Covid.

LaceyBetty · 25/02/2021 14:34

When I say "it" I am referring to the vaccine, not COVID.

EileenGC · 25/02/2021 14:34

I’m not worried and never was, because I’m a healthy person in my 20s who isn’t at more risk of dying of Covid than say, cancer or being ran over by a car.

I’m not in a priority group because I’m not at increased risk. I can’t wait to get back to normal, Covid around or not. I’ll probably be offered the vaccine towards the end of the year and I will take it, so I can continue with my life. Not so I’m protected by the virus (which will be a welcome add on though).

Comeback25 · 25/02/2021 14:35

Nope. This last year has been a joke imo. Lets get on please.

raeray · 25/02/2021 14:36

@flappityflippers1

I haven’t had it and as planning on bfing baby 2 due in a few weeks I won’t be allowed it either until we’re not bfing any longer.

I’ve no issues with formula so have considered just ditching bf once I’m allowed the jab - undecided as yet and it’ll depend what research shows in regards to the jabs also reducing transmission risk.

If the jabs reduce transmission, then I’ll just wait to have it and be sensible with continuing hand washing etc.

I’m young and healthy, the risk of me being critically ill or dying from Covid is minimal - I’m more likely to be killed in a car crash, yet don’t think twice about getting in the car. Also, everyone around me who is vulnerable have already had their jabs.

I’m also not the sort of person who enjoys being around a ton of people though either, so I’m not likely to be found in a jam packed pub etc anyway.

The rules have been updated regarding breast feeding - you're allowed to be vaccinated when breastfeeding.

Brokenrecord3006 · 25/02/2021 14:38

I'm not worried. I can't wait to squeeze myself into a packed out pub garden, vaccine or no vaccine.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 25/02/2021 14:38

I am over 50 with a few preexisting conditions but it bad enough for group 6. Dh at group 5m4 had only just been done so will have a weight .
I am a little concerned when kids returned to school especially as it is currently going around dds school.
However I am broken with homeschooling and this is causing weight gain which is not good with a high BMI so for me it's the lesser of two evils. I will of course continue to be careful.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 25/02/2021 14:39

Group 4. Not bad enough

You can breastfeed and have the jab. I am breastfeeding and intending to.

I am worried, I am over 40, overweight and an asthmatic with a steroid inhaler, and with 3 children who will be back in school soon and a husband who works out of the house some of the time, I do feel vulnerable (and have been told by government messaging for the last year that I am!)

I do want my kids to be able to go back to school and their activities, and am happy to accept the risk of that, but won’t be comfortable doing too much mixing myself until I have been vaccinated
