And there is a few months to go are you worried about the relaxing of the rules? I’m worried as to how to protect myself..very worried I’ll catch it this time Sad

OP posts:
dingoesatemybaby · 25/02/2021 16:43

Nope. I've had it, it was grim, but not nearly as grim as this endless lockdown

FaithfullyYours · 25/02/2021 16:47

@Awalkintime

Yep I'm worried, I work in a school ECV and not eligible for the vaccine. Plus with being under 40, there is no chance I will get mine for months yet.

No distancing, no PPE, no masks just a wing and a prayer I don't catch it.

How are you ECV but not eligible?
MrsFezziwig · 25/02/2021 16:47

We are already being shunted to bottom of vaccination list

You aren’t being “shunted to the bottom” - you are at the bottom because your risk is lowest.

I am in a priority group because of my age. I guess now I have had one vaccination my risk of falling ill is more equivalent to that of a young unvaccinated person. Seems to me that a lot of posters have spent months shouting that they are at minimal risk and why can’t restrictions be relaxed, but now aren’t happy that other people’s risk has been reduced.

starray · 25/02/2021 16:48

Yes, very worried.

Awalkintime · 25/02/2021 16:51

No idea....I keep asking my GP that and thought I might get kicked out of the GP practice on Monday after the email I sent!

I take Tacrolimus immunosuppressant but apparently because it isn't for a transplant that makes it ok.

I also have asthma so you'd think under the CV list that would make me eligible but they are only vaccinating people who have had hospital admissions.

Plus my BMI is high but again, that is not classed as important. Who knows? My colleagues are in the same situation so it seems it is quite common a lot are being missed off the lists.

LuckyLuckyWoman · 25/02/2021 16:52

I will still be distancing and wearing a mask at work. Was hoping to have had the vaccine before going back to work, but if the time line goes to plan that is unlikely.

Did you receive a letter though that confirms you are ecv? My BIL is mid 40s with diabetes and we are from a BAME background admittedly but he received his letter couple of days ago confirming he is ECV.

Did you try calling 119 and explaining the situation?
Quite irritated on your behalf.

applesandoranges221 · 25/02/2021 16:56

Not at all, absolutely desperate for normality

No,

The risk of actually catching it is the same for everyone regardless of age. You're not less likely to catch covid if you're young. You are, however, less likely to need hospital treatment should you catch it being younger.

Asthmatics aren’t lowest risk but have been been removed from vaccine groups, therefore shunted to the bottom.

TonTonMacoute · 25/02/2021 16:59

No. Don't want it, obviously, but elderly relatives are all vaccinated now, personally I feel that being imprisoned by lockdown is just awful.

Awalkintime · 25/02/2021 17:04

I tried ringing the NHS line but it was all automated and so there was no one to speak to. I was told to shield initially but my employer said it would be unpaid so I didn't get to shield.

I am irritated and there has been some choice words said to the receptionist. I was initially told I was eligible and that 'any day' I would be getting my letter. I was then told 3 days later that no, I do not meet the criteria and so I am off the list.

MrBullinaChinaShop · 25/02/2021 17:05

Not worried, no. The reason I haven’t had the vaccine yet is because I am not in a high risk group. I haven’t been worried about contracting it all the way through but have followed the rules so that I don’t transmit it to anyone else.
I was happy to take advantage of the loosening of restrictions in the summer, and will continue to do so as and when we can.

Puddstalk · 25/02/2021 17:06

OP - I understand how you feel - in the same position group 6 - my friends 19 miles away are being vaccinated and they are in their mid 50’s - while we are being told it could be April before all group 6 are done here - it’s postcode lottery at its finest!

jenkel · 25/02/2021 17:08

Yes a bit, dh and I both in our 50s and dh is diabetic, I work in a school and I would just feel a bit more confident going into a school full of kids with the vaccine, I have been working all along in school but with lot smaller nos , we are in Hertfordshire.

HeadSpin5 · 25/02/2021 17:10

I’m 43 and not worried in the slightest. Obvs I’m not going out looking for it but don’t care if I catch it. I know how tiny the risk is to me personally (and I inject meds which lower my immune system) and although am currently concerned for my parents/in laws, by the time the OP is talking about they’ll be fully vaccinated.

ikeepseeingit · 25/02/2021 17:11

I had CFS for years after a viral infection once. I'm very concerned about doing it again with long COVID. I don't actually think I could cope with another four years of being incredibly sick, people with M.E aren't on the vulnerable vaccination list as far as I know. However, most people aren't in my position so I don't think we should keep everyone in for the sake of me.

AllMyPrettyOnes · 25/02/2021 17:12

Not worried in the slightest. More worried about the possibility of vaccine passports stopping me doing things.

Silkies · 25/02/2021 17:12

I'm mid 40s and asthmatic but no not worried about the reduction of lockdown and find it slow considering number vaccinated. I'm glad children are going back to schools though imagine with all the testing will be about 2 days before they all have to isolate for 10 days and so they'll get hardly any school. Got 1 in year 10 whose GCSEs are becoming a shambles and 1 with SN in y9 I'm getting no help with so I can't work and just very concerned for them and kids like them, not for me. Very concerned for the self-employed people getting no support, I'm in that category but at least husband is employed and we've been able to sell things so we have managed but very aware others aren't so fortunate.

minniemoocher · 25/02/2021 17:13

Not really, only worry is making my parents sick but they have been vaccinated already. My go has told me I'm likely to be vaccinated first or second week of April

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 25/02/2021 17:18

Yes. I think with things relaxing but the virus still being here plus many not bothering with masks, SD or sticking to the rules and then large gatherings allowed it just seems like it’s spread is inevitable.

EarlGreywithLemon · 25/02/2021 17:21

[quote Muskox]zoemum2006 vaccine resistant virus variants are rare:

We already have part resistant strains!

Holothane · 25/02/2021 17:23

I’m not planning much but I’m not worried I don’t do supermarkets now anyway, looking forward to springtime and getting our home redecorated.

Are you under consultant care? If so, I would speak to your consultant if I were you and they can advise - and hopefully write a letter to your GP.
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/02/2021 17:26

I'm concerned about a few things.

I got told I'm CV last month - new. Being vaccinated on Saturday.
I go back to school next Friday.
That's not enough time to feel protected, although I've been in and out of school since last March without being too concerned.

The other thing I'm concerned about is hokey cokey school, which is just bound to happen. Nothing has changed to make them less of a vector than they were in January when they were shut to stop them being a vector. Less community transmission, but still community transmission.

I don't believe that parents will do tests and be honest about the results. You only have to look on here to see that people are also going to stop caring about restrictions once schools open, which is massively unfair to school staff and families of children who are at higher risk, yet not vaccinated.
