Carers Allowance/online booking of vaccine

It now states that people in receipt of CA can book online for a vaccine (on the very first page) however when I try I check the 'not health care worker or care worker' and it doesn't let me go any further for booking. Has anyone managed to book a vaccine this way yet as a carer receiving CA?

I’m hanging on for the booking system as I need Saturdays, the local one got very angry when I said I couldn’t make the times she was giving me. DS2 is 6ft and violent when he doesn’t want to be somewhere, even though I was booking as a carer she just didn’t get it.

Also waiting for the online booking as if I'm not home ds's dad has to take time off work.

I did wonder if my son gets called up whether there would be understanding I need to be with him as his carer. He wouldn't go in on his own and would probably walk if I am challenged about being with him.

They would let you in as a carer, shame you can’t get it together

I wish the system would hurry up! Dh is in receipt of CA and the GP just keeps fobbing him off and won't code him as group 6 - they don't seem to agree with this grouping 🤷‍♀️

He spoke with 119 who said he should be able to book online on Thursday. No idea how the system knows you get CA though. DWP? Fine. GP records? We still won't be any closer.....

Btw my DH is a carer for his brother, he was vaccinated Sunday afternoon, our GP has started vaccinating unpaid and paid carers.

Yes and that's the thing @freezingcoldsnow it isn't okay for the GPs to feel the rules around the grouping are up for interpretation.

I really hope it is just a clear sharing of the dwp database (Although gdpr?) and then can just book in.

It really should not be like this. The GPs should not be asking for evidence. Mine just asked for the name and DOB of the person we are careers for and this included “informal” careers, so no evidence required at all. If some GPs can work like this, why are others asking for evidence?

I am hoping it’s the DWP, I’m not sure my GP surgery are great at coding. They have also paused updating carers according to a friend. I know I am coded as a carer but have never showed CA. In fact my code must be 10 years old and they never ask for updates.

No, they haven't even coded him as a carer according to 119. They are just really crap and won't even discuss vaccinations now. No idea what we do.

He's even filled in the online form to tell them but they didn't update records.

It is infuriating that they are adding all this extra stress. It's shit.

Well that’s awful freezing, at least if it’s DWP it will free up some time for GPs as I think there will be lots of calls in the next few days if it’s coded by GP. How many will be coded who are no longer carers

I had a carer go me for mine (without her there to keep.me relatively calm I would have probably had a meltdown and done a runner). She was asked once if she was having a jab or my carer and that was it.

Wow. That's impressive. My CCG are shit and are basically saying wait until you're called.

Drs advised my auntie that they couldnt book her in but 119 might be able to..
So worth a try
