NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Yes, and predictions that the staggering process could take four weeks, so what's even the point? I'm so, so relieved that they are back next week, 70s bouffant hair and all.

MarshaBradyo · 05/03/2021 13:41

Me too. I don’t think I have any more in the tank to keep waiting.

FourTeaFallOut · 05/03/2021 13:42

I spent an unholy amount on a Clarks shoe measurer, second hand on eBay. Felt like I was scrapping of the Christmas must-have toy. But I got it and their new shoes do fit, thankfully.

OrangeBananaFish · 05/03/2021 13:46

We fluked DD2's school shoes. We bought her some ages ago, but they were too big so put them to one side. They now fit her. We did have to buy some for DS and DD1 over the internet though.

The only thing I did have to grin and bear it was DSs blazer. His was far too small for him and even though he is in year 11 he just couldn't get away with it anymore. I justified it to myself by saying that I would have bought it sooner if things had been normal so would have spent the money anyway. I probably should have bought it in summer, but I really didn't know what was going to happen with his year group and schooling so held off in the hope I could get away with not buying one. It didn't work.

Someone on Facebook might have a bigger spare maybe?

I don't know anyone else from that school well enough to ask. Also the boys have a different colour to the girls. I've bought one now anyway.

My son currently looks like he belongs in the band Oasis...had a crisis moment when going to sleep the other night and said to dp “what on earth are we going to do about his hair?!”

The answer was nothing because neither be or ds are prepared to let me loose on da’s hair Shock

herecomesthsun · 05/03/2021 14:10

DS has joined an online orchestra. He was supposed to record a video of himself playing, but was too shy (with the lockdown hair) so has sent them a soundfile instead.

He in fact looks quite cute in a grown out 70s sort of way.

I think he actually likes the option of hiding behind his mask.

Pomegranatespompom · 05/03/2021 14:11

Same @louisejxxx even the hairdresser tells me she can’t believe how much hair he has.
He had quite a bit of hair when born, midwife said he was a very good looking baby 😍

Sunshinegirl82 · 05/03/2021 14:13

My DS is only 4, we attacked his with the clippers, it actually looks ok! Not perfect but passable!

herecomesthsun · 05/03/2021 14:16

I'm sure they are all very handsome. Under the hair. And the masks Smile

MarshaBradyo · 05/03/2021 14:24

Dh used the long length clippers on Ds. It’s passable but still quite long and a bit wavy and thick so easy to get away with.

The other Ds cut his own fringe really short in lockdown down one unsupervised it was hilarious.

I really need a haircut! I’ve had one this whole year Shock

FourTeaFallOut · 05/03/2021 14:25

I last had a hair cut on November 2019. Well, that's not true, DH gave it his best shot with the kitchen scissors some time in June and suffice to say, that won't be happening again.

BigWoollyJumpers · 05/03/2021 14:29

Me too, my last cut was in July.....I have really fine white hair, which goes frizzy at the mere sniff of moisture, even washing up 😂 I am a comical mixture of Mary Beard v. Myriam Margoleys.

I bravely attacked DD's hair, which was in the unfortunate state of growing out a pixie cut, so she was left with an alarming mullet. Did quite a good job actually 😊

BigWoollyJumpers · 05/03/2021 14:30

OMG news from Wooley household though. DH just booked his vaccine for 10 days time. He is only 56 😮

Xenia · 05/03/2021 14:32

More good news. High Court says no obligation to give name and address to police
www.lawgazette.co.uk/news/covid-regulations-accused-had-right-of-silence/5107550.article

"Patrick Ormerod, the solicitor at Bindmans who acted for Neale, said: 'As the High Court stated, the courts should be wary of expanding police powers by implication – where parliament has chosen to compel speech it has done so expressly. The absence of an express obligation to give a name and address in the Coronavirus Regulations powerfully demonstrates that it does not exist.'

He added: 'There is no general common law duty to assist the police by answering questions and a person cannot be guilty of wilfully obstructing a police officer by declining to do so where there is no specific legal duty.' "

OrangeBananaFish · 05/03/2021 14:33

Yey Woollys DH.

Just seen another thread about 119 message saying something about 55+ and a few anecdotes from MNers saying about bookings.

2021 will have its own new fashion of hair thanks to lockdown

@BigWoollyJumpers amazing news!

I last had mine cut in July- it’s now almost bum length, I might have take drastic action

Autumn101 · 05/03/2021 14:41

DS1 has had his first two LFT this week, I’m so impressed by the schools and how smoothly it’s gone. All kids are back on Monday.

Laughing at the hair dilemmas! DS1 had his cut really short in December so his is passable. DS2 on the other hand looks like a mad scientist. He has amazing thick wavy hair but it grows out and up so he has a permanent look of being slightly startled

Autumn101 · 05/03/2021 14:41

And great news for your DH Woolly x

Early data suggests AstraZeneca vaccine effective against Brazilian variant - Reuters

Preliminary data from a study conducted at the University of Oxford indicates that the COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca is effective against Brazilian variant, a source with knowledge of the study told Reuters on Friday.

The data indicates that the vaccine will not need to be modified in order to protect against the variant, which is believed to have originated in the Amazonian city of Manaus, said the source, who requested anonymity as the results have not yet been made public.

The source did not provide the exact efficacy of the vaccine against the variant. They said the full results of the study should be released soon, possibly in March.

BessMarvin · 05/03/2021 16:05

That sounds amazing!

Is Pfizer being tested? It would be quite awkward if the 2 vaccines suddenly became that one was more useful than the other.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/03/2021 16:22

Awkward 😂😂😂

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 05/03/2021 16:23

I know what you mean but hopefully of course they both will be good

And moderna etc

louisejxxx · 05/03/2021 16:26

I think we should hit 1m 2nd doses today looking at the stats, and 21m 1st doses.
