Scotland saying no holidays for summer?
OP posts:

People saying just holiday in the UK:

The Scottish government's idea of a staycation is likely to mean stay in Scotland i.e. no travel to England.

Yep. Lock up now like good little robots, doesn't matter to Nippy and Co., their families all around and the likes of what's-her-face who broke the rules to check on her holiday house have plush boltholes to repair to don't give a fuck about people who don't/can't afford to pay inflated prices.
ladylunchalot · 16/02/2021 20:05

I live in Scotland but don't always holiday here as the weather is pretty shit especially in summer so we normally go to Devon or Yorkshire. Will that still be possible or will we be staying within Scotland??

‘But Staycations might be’

Bloody hell

I'd book it and lie my arse off if I had to and go. You think all of them and the rich are going to be sat at home? Are they fuck! Do you honestly belief it's legal for a rampant control freak to close a border within the UK?! Have people drunk so much of the Kool-Aid they're not even questioning this?

It might mean staying at home.

JaneNorman · 16/02/2021 20:19

I think by July/August there will be a vaccination passport and some travel corridors will open up

I will be so pissed off if this happens and I haven’t been invited for a vaccine yet. Imagine all those younger healthy people who have spent all that time living with restrictions, many of whom have lost jobs/income or been furloughed to protect the old and the vulnerable. And it’s the older and vulnerable who get to go on holiday because they’ve already had a vaccine.

AnyFucker · 16/02/2021 20:19

we are lucky to have beaches and parks nearby

And there we have it

FredUpNow · 16/02/2021 20:20

Yes I thought that!

rawalpindithelabrador · 16/02/2021 20:23

@CeeJay81

I really hope they allow people to travel from Wales. Haven't seen my family in Scotland for well over a year. even booked a place to stay, so fingers crossed it's allowed.
I really hope someone takes Nippy and Co. to court because I cannot it's got to the point where British people are questioning if they will be allowed to travel to another place in the UK* ? How did we get this far down the rabbit hole?
rawalpindithelabrador · 16/02/2021 20:25

@AnyFucker

Yep! Be grateful, proles, for the fucking beach and park you've looked at for over a year instead of your family (and don't give me twaddle about loved ones, I saw my parent for the last time on a video link or any BS about fucking WWII, it ended nearly 76 years ago).
FredUpNow · 16/02/2021 20:25

It's mad.

lunapeace · 16/02/2021 20:26

The Dutch courts have just overruled their Covid curfew because it went against right to freedom of movement.

rawalpindithelabrador · 16/02/2021 20:29

@lunapeace

And yet Nippy's been allowed to smack a draconian fucking border control in when it's not a devolved issue. And people are still thinking they should be grateful if they're allowed to visit their own bloody family within the UK or to look at the same fucking beach and park like some type of glorified cage.

Unbelievable.

Iamclearlyamug · 16/02/2021 20:30

@JaneNorman agreed, I’d be beside myself with rage. Yeah why not, punish us for happening to be young and healthy 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

FredUpNow · 16/02/2021 20:36

My sincere condolences rawalpindi.

Plenty of people even in their 50s won't be vaccinated twice. And again, you could be vaccinated twice and they still expect you to pay at least £1725 (wonder which one of their cronies got the contracts) to imprison yourselves rather than quarantine at home and be trusted to behave like the non-criminal you are and act shocked when people use loopholes.

rawalpindithelabrador · 16/02/2021 20:38

She's talking out her hole, IMO, Fred, and people are going to use the loophole, quite rightly and she can't legally stop it because as much as she doesn't like it, we are still part of the UK. Border control is not devolved. She has no bloody right to do this and should be taken to court, which I hope something or someone will.

Bollss · 16/02/2021 20:39

@IceCreamAndCandyfloss

Sounds very sensible, let’s hope Boris follows suit.

No one needs a holiday and the more travel the more chance of spread and new variants.

Ffs we all need a holiday after this shit show. I cannot imagine being so joyless.
CrackOpenTheGin · 16/02/2021 20:41

Sounds sensible to me. Sick of people who can’t live without a holiday in a pandemic making things worse for all of us Hmm

roarfeckingroarr · 16/02/2021 20:42

Ridiculous. Once again thankful to not live north of the border.

Mylittlesandwich · 16/02/2021 20:44

I have a wee trip booked to the Lake District in September and I really really really want to go. It's the one thing I've been looking forward to.

PersonaNonGarter · 16/02/2021 20:45

Live in Scotland. Booked a holiday abroad for this July.

I think I’ll get to go as it’s mainland Europe, and I think that some things will become apparent:

-neither Europe nor UK economy can cope without tourism for the key months of the Summer
-the NHS can cope
-the vaccines can respond to mutations

I think Sturgeon is being excessively cautious in order to avoid people booking and being disappointed.

Sick of people who think people only travel for a fucking holiday. Hmm

We can easily isolate at home. No one's making it worse for all of us but a dictatorial government who aren't bothering to immunise everyone properly and even when they do insist it's not enough protection and we all need to stay locked up forever.

That's making it worse for everyone. Fuck that.
