Welcome to the new thread! I will copy over links from the previous thread soon.

Please note, this is a thread to share good news and for wobblers to be reassured. Doomploppers will be met with scorn and derision!

Some good news for us Londoners but others may find it interesting too

Please don't forget that the vast majority of us lurkers are benign and love this thread! Maybe the reporting types could have a different name... Smile

You're right herecomesyourmam ( and glad you delurked!).
Maybe "murkers" as they come from the murky side?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 19/02/2021 08:09

Sorry been awol a couple of days. What's with all the deletions?
Anyhoo, I have no chocolate orange bunnies but I made some Galaktoboureko last night and it's delicious.
It's a Greek dessert made with layers of golden brown crispy filo, sprinkled with melted butter, filled with creamy custard and soaked in scented syrup.

AlexandraEiffel · 19/02/2021 08:10

@HereComesYourMam glad you delurked with that name, best name ever!

Was just checking the paper review and one was reporting over 40s to be offered vaccine by end March (not jumping ahead) which suggests they're making huge progress!

And loving the 2/3 protection against transmission being reported.

Autumn101 · 19/02/2021 08:15

That’s great about the 40s - I was 40 last month so that would be one positive to getting older and also having a lockdown birthday 😂

Some personal good news - my Dad has a minor procedure so had the antibody test. Positive only 4 weeks after his first dose!

Bloody hell, that sounds good. I do love Greek food

Me too! DH still a youthful 39 so he’ll have to wait
TheChineseChicken · 19/02/2021 08:31

@Autumn101 that’s great news about your Dad’s antibody test

TheChineseChicken · 19/02/2021 08:32

No food offerings here as it’s the day before supermarket day. I can, however, offer negronis. Maybe a bit much for 8.30am..? Or do good news threads follow airport and festival drinking rules?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/02/2021 08:38

Morning all. Sounds like there’s plenty of good news to wake up to.
Loved the poem, FuzzyPuffling. ‘Utterly unlike the snow’ would be another good thread title.

We don’t have much food in but since DH’s negative test result we can go and buy whatever we want, hurrah!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 19/02/2021 08:52

Passes some to @TheChineseChicken
Careful though its as sticky as hell.

TheChineseChicken · 19/02/2021 09:01

Thanks @LivinLaVidaLoki!

Found this about no Covid being found on the tube and buses fascinating. Had to read it a couple of times as thought I’d misunderstood.

Can’t quite work out if this points towards surfaces not really being a point of transmission, or just that not many people are on the transport network at the moment and they’re cleaning it really well.

Happy with either from a good news pov tbh

Ideas to cheer people up www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/deals-hunter/2020/04/free-ways-to-relax-feel-good/

I liked the animal webcams - especially the rescue kittens. But the hippos are great if you are not feeling up to much.

Inastatus · 19/02/2021 09:14

@HereComesYourMam - apols, no offence meant to genuine bona fide lurkers! I like fuzzy’s idea to call them ‘murkers’ instead.

The data on transmission is brilliant 😀

@LivinLaVidaLoki - I’m salivating at the sound of that creation!

Shehz21 · 19/02/2021 09:22

Yup murkers definitely sounds good.

Ah brilliant news for us Londoners, off to send this to all my contactsSmile

I swear this thread is helping a lot of people deal and manage their anxiety. Hands down the best thread on Mumsnet 🙌

HereComesYourMam · 19/02/2021 09:32

I like 'murkers' - thank you Smile

Pomegranatespompom · 19/02/2021 09:43

@TheChineseChicken I'm ok with morning drinking.

Pomegranatespompom · 19/02/2021 09:46

There was a German study which demonstrated no/low evidence of surface transmission. Will try ad find it.

JemimaPyjamas · 19/02/2021 10:33

Made the mistake of bringing up the transmission info with my determinedly negative friend. (The one who’s twisted almost every development into a negative.)

She’s insisting it’s bullshit as you can still carry the virus on your clothing, hair etc.

Nothing I can find says this, and I obviously need to have some solid info before I reply - can anyone help...?! I don’t understand it works (which obviously won’t help my case!!)

Yugi · 19/02/2021 10:38

Just come back from my first dose vaccine, ridiculously happy. The nurse was saying that she's never dealt with so many happy people :D

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 19/02/2021 10:39

Article just popped up on my phone saying that Pfizer is showing 85% effective after 1 dose.

So that's great news 😊

JemimaPyjamas · 19/02/2021 10:41

@Yugi a friend of mine is doing vaccines and she said she had regular tears of joy and relief from people! I felt a bit like that when I went for mine too!
