If audiences/spectators are allowed at events this summer, will you go?

I have various plans to attend sporting events and theatre shows this summer, some held over from last year, some booked in hope things will be normal, some booked with social distancing plans in place. I don't know if they will go ahead, but if they do, I'll be there. But I've been watching the Aus Open this week and they've said that despite a daily capacity of 30,000, they haven't had anywhere near those numbers in. Presumably people don't feel safe enough going, because I would imagine those tickets would sell out easily in normal times (or maybe there just aren't enough locals interested and fans from further away can't travel?). So it made me think, if events like Wimbledon go ahead this summer, will there be an appetite for it?

If its normal, of course! If you have to wear a mask, then no.

bumbleymummy · 13/02/2021 16:52

I would, yes. We have tickets to a few things this year and I’m really hoping they go ahead.

Beaniecats · 13/02/2021 16:55

Desperate to get back to horse racing. Missed the national hunt season but will do some flat racing meetings to make up
Also hopefully at least some of the country shows will be on love those

Devlesko · 13/02/2021 16:55

I'll be working again, so yes.

Nineinchnailfile · 13/02/2021 16:57

Yes

wendz86 · 13/02/2021 16:58

If Wimbledon has spectators i will go .

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/02/2021 16:59

Absolutely. I have tickets for Brighton pride and another festival in late August (rolled over from last year's cancelled ones) I will attend both if they are allowed to go ahead.

From the email they sent recently they are working on a plan of reduced capacity, which seems sensible. We had tickets for last year and in theory should be able to get tickets for the same day and court for this year, but if they have to reduce capacity I assume that won't be a given. They also sent out a survey asking if people would still want to attend, I would be really interested in what sort of responses they get.

On a side note, will be interesting to see what they do about the roofs if there are different rules for indoor and outdoor events - treat those courts as indoor in case they need to use the roof, or treat them as outdoor and not use the roof?

Yes, definitely. Sporting events and indoor gigs, I’d be happy to attend either.

OcelotPanda · 13/02/2021 17:07

I went to open air theatre last summer and will definitely go this year if it is open. Had to wear a mask during the show but it was absolutely fine. I was too busy enjoying the show to worry about what was on my face.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 13/02/2021 17:07

yes, so long as I don't have to wear a mask

fresiaboquet · 13/02/2021 17:19

absolutely. I cant wait to get back to my running events, will be there as soon as they start again. WIll be back at theatres in a heart beat and same for cinemas/festivals etc.....

flowerycurtain · 13/02/2021 17:21

I'm booked into a concert and twickenham in November. If allowed will go even if I have to wear a mask.

ILookAtTheFloor · 13/02/2021 17:21

Yes 100%, I'd prefer no mask but if needs must!

FourTeaFallOut · 13/02/2021 17:23

Yes.

Angel2702 · 13/02/2021 17:24

Yes we have football season tickets we haven’t been able to use once.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 13/02/2021 17:26

Ive booked indoor theatre for august.... fingers crossed!!

PersonaNonGarter · 13/02/2021 17:30

I’d love to go to the theatre. I really couldn’t bear to wear a mask tho. I just find masks annoying and can’t wait to take them off.

Sitting through the theatre with a mask on would be like sitting next to someone with a cough.

Floralnomad · 13/02/2021 17:32

We’ve already had one concert for the end of May postponed again to next year , it was originally May 2020 . We’ve another concert in May that has not been cancelled yet , I likely won’t go but I have been to another date on the same tour pre covid . Got tickets for the Killers in June but i won’t go if you have to wear a mask .

sashagabadon · 13/02/2021 17:33

Yes

AhGoGo · 13/02/2021 17:33

Absolutely. I have tickets for gigs in May, June, September and November. Would be lovely if even one of them went ahead, it’s been over a year of no live music.

Not pinning too much hope on that, 2 of them are already rescheduled dates from last year, but would it be lovely?

LadyCounterblast · 13/02/2021 17:35

God, yes. I miss live music so much.

mootymoo · 13/02/2021 17:41

Yes, I'd go tonight!

OpheliasCrayon · 13/02/2021 17:41

Yes!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/02/2021 17:43

Yes, have booked several England test match tickets 🤞🏼
