If audiences/spectators are allowed at events this summer, will you go?

I have various plans to attend sporting events and theatre shows this summer, some held over from last year, some booked in hope things will be normal, some booked with social distancing plans in place. I don't know if they will go ahead, but if they do, I'll be there. But I've been watching the Aus Open this week and they've said that despite a daily capacity of 30,000, they haven't had anywhere near those numbers in. Presumably people don't feel safe enough going, because I would imagine those tickets would sell out easily in normal times (or maybe there just aren't enough locals interested and fans from further away can't travel?). So it made me think, if events like Wimbledon go ahead this summer, will there be an appetite for it?

Outdoors maybe if I’ve received both vaccinations and there are social distancing measures in place (eg not standing/sitting close to others) and infection rates are low and not increasing.
You mention social distancing, that would actually bother me more than masks. I go to most concerts alone, so social distancing, although it wools be weird at a big concert, would be ok. But I go to sporting events and some concerts with a friend, and if social distancing were required we wouldn't be able to go together. People would have to go alone to events unless they have someone in their household or bubble who wants to go with them. I guess two or more friends could all book separate tickets to the same event but it would be a bit pointless if they have to sit or stand apart. I'd still go alone but would miss being with friends.

@RichardMarxisinnocent Good point, I tend to go to things alone too but agree some things are better with friends. And I had assumed that mixing with one or two households outdoors was possible if outdoor events were permitted, but I’d still want socially distanced queues and sitting in a venue.

Indoor mixing would definitely have to be allowed for a while for theatres to be open too.

If household mixing is allowed, if it has the same rules as last summer, we'll still have to distance from the person we're with if the from another household. We'd be allowed to socialise with them but still have to distance.

Yep. I’d walk barefoot through a puddle of cold sick to attend a gig tonight. The moment things are on I’m there.

Yes, this is what worries me most. I go to most things like this with my sister and we are not in the same bubble (she has a support bubble with my parents, I have a childcare one with them, but as things stand we can't socialise). So if the events go ahead, but household mixing isn't allowed, we will have tough decisions to make.

No. Not for a good while.
