NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

@FourTeaFallOut and @Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum - thanks. Let’s keep everything crossed for 8th March 🤞🏻🤞🏻

thatgingergirl · 12/02/2021 14:20

Gosh, they're ploughing through the numbers. DH (68) got his invite this morning and is booked for next Thursday.
I'm so sorry for those of you whose children or teens are struggling. Hoping all the good news comes together and they can soon be learning and socialising at least a little more normally.

chri55ie · 12/02/2021 14:23

Think it’s another 500k jab day today!

FuzzyPuffling · 12/02/2021 14:23

Moaning Minnie alert and not in the spirit of the thread...sorry...
I shouldn't be envious, but I am, of all those who have had a vaccine or can go to a shop or even plan or think about that activity.
I was doing ok until every man and his dog ( of a similar age, and I'm CV too) is yelling "yippee, I'm done!". I feel so left behind and terribly impatient, and progress here is painfully slow.
I may have to sidle back under my rock for another two months or so, especially since the news this morning was all "vaccine delivery slowdown for the next two weeks". ☹️

@FourTeaFallOut

Sorry, I realise that this is becoming something of a major off topic distraction now, but milk and more say we aren't on their radar yet but in good news, apparently the co-op will deliver to me between 2-4pm today for free?? I'm not sure I believe it yet. That seems too good to be true.
Yes Co-Op are great for just under 30 items I think but same day!
Furries · 12/02/2021 14:25

Well, that was a nice big chunk of good news posts to read through today - thanks all (though sorry to those whose kids are struggling with the school situation, it’s so bloody hard).

Is it me, or are the over-the-top doom scenario threads increasing. I’ve seen a few of you on them offering patient, alternative viewpoints. But there seems to be a hardcore group of posters who are determined to push the vaccines are useless/govt relishing a totalitarian regime message. I take my hat off to you, as I’ve given up trying to show some positive viewpoints. I keep wanting to say “come check out the good news thread, it’s really helpful”, but worry that they’re going to bring the heightened negativity over here!

My good news is that it’s now 23.5 hours until mum gets her first vaccine! She’s 73 and diabetic, so will be a relief to get the first one done. I’m driving her there, but she’s able to go in on her own so I won’t be able to see what the set-up is like.

Other than that, I’ll be taking a Covid break later to watch Trump’s defence team start their presentation. Which will make Covid seem like a minuscule worry for a few hours!

@Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady

Thank you 😊Flowers

I have been really down the last few days with all the confusion over asthma getting/not getting the vaccine, and worrying that the person who weighed me back in January hadn't updated my BMI properly to show it at over 40.

It feels a bit too good to be true. Waiting for the other shoe to drop kind of.

It's worth having a look on Facebook as I had no idea that my surgery (Or any GPs) had a Facebook page, but they do and they posted this morning to say they would be moving onto groups 5 and 6 next week

Their website hasn't been updated since January though (too busy for obvious reasons!)

Must be a weight off.Flowers

Oh Fuzzy, its very hard not to feel despondent when good things are happening to others Flowers

Furries · 12/02/2021 14:28

@FuzzyPuffling - completely understand, vent away. I can’t remember where about you are, but really hope that numbers start to increase soon.

Fuzzy it can’t be long for you now (I don’t remember your age I’m sorry) but sounds like others who are CV and a similar age are coming through now, and even if slower in your area I don’t think you’ll be weeks behind so surely soon? Flowers

Remember when you were really fed up about your DH and he got a text that day? Well, hopefully the same will happen for you!
TheChineseChicken · 12/02/2021 14:35

Our surgery has just posted on FB about their latest vaccination clinic, saying how well it went and thanking the local business that provided lunch for the team. It's been so lovely to see our local restaurants catering for them for free! I love my town

Pomegranatespompom · 12/02/2021 14:47

@FuzzyPuffling it’s totally understandable.
Are there any centres near you that you could contact near the end of the day in case they have spares?

FuzzyPuffling · 12/02/2021 14:54

I'm 63 and CV so in Group 6. (although knowing my GP surgery I might need to check that one...!I am on the "green Book" list for group 6 and I do get a flu jab annually, not for age)

No centres near me unfortunately. Our nearest PCN (where I ought to get "done") is 12 miles away and only vaccinating at weekends. The closest larger hub is an hour's drive away. They haven't started group 5 at either place yet.

It's so hard hearing about "Enfield are vaccinating their over 50s".

Trying to stay positive and enjoying the positive press postings. Esp Neil Ferguson. Now on glue.

You'll all be relieved to hear I have a proper cup of tea now. Grin

FuzzyPuffling · 12/02/2021 15:26

I have made toad in the hole for tea. Veggie sausages. And onion gravy. Is this good news?

FourTeaFallOut · 12/02/2021 15:28

Definitely good news fuzzy!

That's the best news I have heard since March 2020

No, because now I want some!
FuzzyPuffling · 12/02/2021 15:40

But, ChineseChicken every time I see your user name I want some sweet and sour.

FourTeaFallOut · 12/02/2021 15:43

I get this earworm everything I see TheChineseChicken

Chickity China, the Chinese chicken
You have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin'
Watching X-Files with no lights on
We're dans la maison
I hope the Smoking Man's in this one
Like Harrison Ford, I'm getting frantic
Like Sting, I'm tantric
Like Snickers, guaranteed to satisfy
Like Kurosawa, I make mad films, 'kay, I don't make films

FourTeaFallOut · 12/02/2021 15:44

Etc

JemimaPyjamas · 12/02/2021 15:46

@Furries I agree that the doom seems to be increasing, not just on MN but in RL life too. A friend of mine was ranting last night how 'shit' the Oxford one was, and how 'useless' and 'pointless' it is to even be bothering with. I was diplomatically trying to turn her round but it was pointless, she was just fixed with her view and unable to move.

I think it's very trying for all of us at the moment but I also struggle to understand the mindset of turning every possible thing into a negative even when it isn't at all.
