NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

Pleasing graph. Fingers crossed it starts to look like a black ski run soon.

ACovidofWitches · 09/02/2021 17:47

I see that vaccines are at 12, 646,486 now. So we could hit 13 million tomorrow or early the next day?

FuzzyPuffling · 09/02/2021 17:54

I think I got extra fed up this morning when the ONS swab woman asked me my occupation and when I said "retired", she replied "oooh lucky you". I explained I'd had to give up work to look after my cancerous husband and she then cheered with him that he'd had his vaccine.
I felt superfluous and undervalued and it was the last straw in a bad week.

I'll get over it. I'm not one for sulking!

Those figures are as of midnight last night, so in theory we could be there already
FuzzyPuffling · 09/02/2021 17:55

Anyway, I'm hiding out for a bit on the Gardening board. It's nice over there!

Cases: 12,364 last Tuesday 16,840
Deaths: 1,052 last Tuesday 1,449
Admissions: 1,987 last Tuesday 2,462

Lovely drops in numbers again. We are getting there

GrumpySausage · 09/02/2021 18:15

My parents have had a text this afternoon to book their jabs, both group 5. Grin

They've got booked on through swift queue immediately and are going Thursday. So relieved.

twinmum2017 · 09/02/2021 18:22

My dad got his text this afternoon. Now to figure out the logistics of him getting it because standing in a queue is beyond his capabilities at the moment so to health problems...

Could you borrow a fold up wheelchair from somewhere?
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 09/02/2021 18:40

Cavemum posted this on the vaccination thread.

Good news @GrumpySausage - about an hour from them!

wendz86 · 09/02/2021 19:06

My parents also group 5 got theirs booked for Tuesday next week today . I’ll be only one in my immediate family not to have one as my sister had hers at weekend . My parents are my support bubble but I haven’t seen them since Christmas Eve as didn’t want to take too many risks but this and cases going down means I can hopefully see them
Soon .

My cousin in his 20s, who has Down's Syndrome and is CEV is getting his vaccination this week! He's been really missing being able to to go out so I'm thrilled for him!

RaggieDolls · 09/02/2021 19:13

Thanks all for making me feel better. My MIL has her vaccination appointment for Friday... she's 67. FIL, who is 77, had his a few weeks ago. I was surprised (and pleased!) that they are onto the over 65's group in her area.

Harumff · 09/02/2021 19:28

At the large vaccination centre I volunteered at on Saturday the marshalls had wheelchairs ready to offer those who needed them 👍🏻

My 65 year old dad has his appt for the 15th. Hopefully not too much longer to wait for my mum (62)

TalskiddyTreacleMiner · 09/02/2021 21:06

I'm so glad I've found this thread. The mood hoovers on some other threads are something else. I work in travel and am very fearful for the long term sustainability of my job and the sector at large if this goes on too much longer. That travel article from the Independent up thread has cheered me right up!

The stats from Israel look really promising too. Hopefully we'll see some similar data here soon as well.

AVictoryProduct · 09/02/2021 21:29

I love the expression 'mood hoover'! I haven't heard that before. I had a long meeting today and afterwards my mood had been well and truly hoovered. This thread has me bouncing back. Thanks everyone!

oscarandelliesdad · 09/02/2021 21:33

Wow, I need to find that thread... I've just bolted from the ten-year sentence thread. This site is terrifying sometimes.

tobee · 09/02/2021 21:42

Someone mentioned upthread (sorry I can't find the bit) about treatments not being mentioned much. It definitely all seems to be vaccines, vaccines, vaccines. Could do with some more treatment headlines. They could be a game changer too.

twinmum2017 · 09/02/2021 22:00

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum @Harumff

My mum is going to call the GP tomorrow and see if they have some there that they could borrow. Presumably she'll be allowed in the queue with him to push.

Did you get offered the jab ? X
