NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.
@PuffinShop
I meant to clarify that in iceland it effectively means you can leave and come back in if you are Icelandic not that we can go there if vaccinated. I do think individual countries will end up with a similar rule. But in some cases go further and say you can’t go to certain other countries unless you have it.
You can leave and come back anyway, though (and you can come from many countries as well). It just means you don't have to do the quarantine when you return (you'd still have to do it in the destination country if they didn't have the same system - I don't know if anyone does).

I appreciate that for many people the quarantines make travel impossible regardless of restrictions but travel restrictions and quarantine requirements are different parts of the equation.

I thought that when people talked about vaccine passports they meant a system where people would not be able to travel internationally without one.

@FourTeaFallOut

Zahawi tells MPs:
 • We have now vaccinated almost 9 in 10 over 80s
 • Almost 9 in 10 over 75s
 • Over half of people in their 70s
This is so so good. Really looking forward to seeing it come through in the death stats.
DobbyTheHouseElk · 04/02/2021 13:52

I also don’t want schools returning too soon. I am totally exhausted from home schooling but I’m ok with it.

Our school has a handful of kids in and the bubbles are popping still. Add more into the mix and it will be worse. Kids take it home to parents, and infect teachers. Unless they become safer I don’t know the answer.

Sorry that wasn’t positive was it Gin

FourTeaFallOut · 04/02/2021 13:56

Surely is lower prevalence in the community and far fewer hospitalisations and deaths? We're on track for the hat trick by March. So pleased all the cev teachers who are able to get the vaccine will be immunised with enough time to generate good protection from illness by then too and over 60s soon to follow.

Not covid related but according to Facebook, in a weeks time there Wil be 26 more minutes of sunlight compared with today and in two weeks time an hour more a day.

This is what I've been trying to concentrate on as the longer days cannot be taken away. If they are then we have more than just COVID to be worried about. Plus I love spring, its my favourite season
Mousehole10 · 04/02/2021 14:41

BBC need is very positive today. As well as the positive Bank of England prediction, the other top headline is ‘UK is getting safer every day’. It makes a nice change!

An additional 381,076 vaccinations have been reported over the past 24 hours in England.

An overall total of 9,508,006 in England.

alreadytaken · 04/02/2021 15:09

and 45,085 first jabs in scotland

LetItGoGo · 04/02/2021 15:22

That's a good number in Scotland.

My rule of thumb is to want to see 10% of overall UK figure to match our population proportionally.

InterfectoremVulpes · 04/02/2021 15:26

@FourTeaFallOut

Only half mad, it's only full mad when you get your second dose.
Doesn't that depend if your puppy is wearing half a pair of trousers?

I noticed this too! I’ve also seen a report saying there is a case for schools opening sooner than 8th March and household mixing from March onwards!!

I’ve just been out on a walk with the smalls. Could feed the warmth of the sun on my cheeks properly today. Didn’t need gloves for the first time in I can’t remember. And although our daffs still aren’t quite ready next door but one has a lovely display of tulips already.
Treaclepie19 · 04/02/2021 16:04

@Wherediditgo how amazing would that be!

I really do need my son to go back to school. For his mental health and mine. I have OCD and it's not good me getting used to not having to worry about him bringing home bugs and things.

Level75 · 04/02/2021 16:09

Wow 470k new jabs compared with 280k last Thursday!

AfterEightAnyTime · 04/02/2021 16:15

@Wherediditgo, can I ask where you read that? Do you have a link?

tootyfruitypickle · 04/02/2021 16:15

I would be so happy if they opened secondaries after half term. But at least if they commit on 22 Feb to full school return by 8 March that would be something to hold onto . Definitely at the end my tether now, as is DD. If there was a restaurant open and it was allowed I'd be there in ten mins flat Confused. I think we're all finding it harder this time aren't we what with winter .

So good to hear the vaccine rates being so high. Definitely a good future ahead.

TeaInTheGarden · 04/02/2021 16:46

Right I’m going for 11 million or near enough by tomorrow now! 12 million by Monday.
Come on vaccines!!

TeaInTheGarden · 04/02/2021 16:47

Maybe even 12 million by Sunday- if last weekend is anything to go by.

This is not happy news...one of our two cats is ill. We've just come back from the vets. We've brought him home but have to go back tomorrow morning.
Please send thoughts and prayers for our cat. We love him.
