NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

@GrumpySausage

Sorry if obvious (I'm frazzled today with work and home schooling) but are the numbers reported each day the totals of the day before? i.e so the 290k reported today are those delivered yesterday (sunday).
No. It can take a "few" days for numbers to be swept up. It's not a "live" reporting system. The only way to tell how many have been done, is to know how many vaccines have left the warehouse, this is known, but confidential for security reasons (Nicola - take note).

@FourTeaFallOut

Huh, I just totally answered a question that wasn't asked. That's a new low Blush I might make a politician yet. Grin
Grin Priti Patel will be calling to ask you to advise her before the press conferences!

@FourTeaFallOut

These are the contact details for diabetes UK. These kinds of specific charities are probably well versed in the distinctions between cev and cv at this point and might be able to guide you with more detail.

Email us at [email protected] or call 0345 123 2399.

Thank you so much.
FuzzyPuffling · 01/02/2021 15:43

Frazzled I told my DH that when he was vaccinated he was SOOOO going to Lidl to get me some nut bars!

Welikebeingcosy · 01/02/2021 16:04

It is really happening isn't it? Things are really going to improve soon. It might even be at 20 million in three weeks. I'm so glad that the lockdown is having a positive effect on numbers- it makes it feel worth it.

(Thanks @Furries for pointing me over here! For some reason I thought I had posted on here but when I logged in it took me back to thread 7!)

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/02/2021 16:09

Data for the day is out.
All still going in the right direction, drop in number of deaths better and cases less good than recently.

Welikebeingcosy · 01/02/2021 16:10

They've announced two new mass vaccination centres in Kent from this week. My 80 something year old Grandma had her jab last week as one of some in one of the last areas to get a vaccination centre

Mousehole10 · 01/02/2021 16:12

Cases below 20k for the first time in ages!

Level75 · 01/02/2021 16:15

319k jabs yesterday up from 220k last Sunday.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/02/2021 16:23

Cases are reported as falling here but hospitalisations are still going up.
I know I shall feel a lot happier when they are really falling.
My ex h had his vaccine yesterday, which is good. ( I'm not such a mean bat, and he's all right really! )

Had a group zoom chat and a friend of mine said she'd had the jab last night. She's mid sixties!!!! And not vulnerable!!!

I'm not sure if she's under or over 65 btw. I missed that bit and didn't want to yell out "sorry exactly how old are you?" Grin

TheChineseChicken · 01/02/2021 16:51

I’m wouldn’t be surprised by the drop in cases starting to level off. If we had had a 10k drop today like other days it would be around 12k, which I think would be unfeasible - there’s going to be a floor effect.

Best drop in deaths for a long time though?

TheChineseChicken · 01/02/2021 16:51

I mean 10k drop compared with last Monday

tobee · 01/02/2021 16:52

Did anyone see this on the BBC live feed? Thought it fitted our group!

Hope screenshot works!:-

Woo woo there's so much light blue around me now! My local area was 340 per 100k a week ago. Today it's 140 per 100k. Amazing.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 01/02/2021 16:58

Marvellous Grin

I want a goat zoom meeting now. I feel like that is what is missing in my life

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/02/2021 17:01

Oh I remember the goats! My db in Japan has goats and a live goat cam but it always seems to be night in Japan at times when I am in the mood for goat watching.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 01/02/2021 17:01

On the government website my boroughs cases have fallen by 49% in a week 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

TheChineseChicken · 01/02/2021 17:02

I’m loving hearing about the Isle of Man. Sounds like as soon as restrictions were lifted it was business as usual, no weirdness, no one spooked. I for one can’t wait to resume normal life

littleowl1 · 01/02/2021 17:06

Folks, we are so nearly there!

We have 311 councils with falling cases week-over-week as you can see on www.covidmessenger.com!

Just 4 councils with rising cases.

We are sooo close to an all green table!

I really think we will crack it this week......!

I also updated the hospital data charts this morning with the latest NHS data.

Both the number of patients in hospital as well as daily admissions are posting some pretty dramatic falls in many regions.

Daily hospital admissions:
www.covidmessenger.com/hospital-admissions/

Cases in Hospital:
www.covidmessenger.com/hospital-cases/

And this is before the vaccine is likely to be having any effect. So really very good news indeed.

Roll on the good news. Smile

louisejxxx · 01/02/2021 17:10

I think it will start to level off now too, but I think it’s important to remember alongside this that we’ve only been in lockdown for just under 4 weeks...with 5 weeks (atleast) still to go. Whilst that sounds like an awfully long time written down, that means even if the drop of cases is slower...it could still be really really low in 5 weeks time.

louisejxxx · 01/02/2021 17:10

Apologies my last post was meant to tag a pp in relation to number of cases levelling off Blush
