This is a continuation of the previous thread, www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4129412-1-5-million-people-vaccinated-already-brilliant

6,353,321 people in the UK have now received their first dose of the vaccine - that’s 1 in every 8.3 adults. It’s a truly remarkable achievement to have reached so many people in such a short space of time.

Welcome to the new thread and let’s keep the positive vibes going! Grin

If its a yearly vaccine they will need constant supply.

Will we hit 10m today? Looking like we may.

Eyewhisker · 01/02/2021 11:07

The AZ jab is difficult to give as a repeat vaccination due to its technology, so makes sense to plan to use a different one in future years.

AllAroundTheWrekin · 01/02/2021 11:28

It's brilliant that the vaccinations are going so well. Can someone explain why dates are slipping in the vaccination tracker?

Frazzled6 · 01/02/2021 11:34

I saw dates on the tracker slipping at the beginning of last week but they bounced back by yesterday.

CoffeeandCroissant · 01/02/2021 12:04

Numbers and population percentages vaccinated up to the end of January, by English region, as well as for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Broken down by first doses and second doses. (From the Times).

Yes heard that on radio - excellent but doesn't seem much in news so far.

Attached is saying will be produced in Scotland - skilled jobs to the area etc.

Fingers crossed all goes well - yes EU still just in discussions....seem to want everyone else to do the commit first and get over hiccups and then have no patience when the hiccups affect them too in supply line.

290,000 more in England

Frazzled2207 · 01/02/2021 14:05

That’s 8 million just in England now

thereisonlyoneofme · 01/02/2021 14:30

France is being sour about our vaccination programme on BBC website.
Bit like their wine

FourTeaFallOut · 01/02/2021 14:43

Macron alone is beginning to explain the high levels of vaccine hesitancy in France.

buttery81 · 01/02/2021 14:47

Oh yes, I read about that in the Guardian, who stated in the article that 14% of the UK adult population have now received their first dose. It’s actually higher - 17%!

Is the 14.4 showing on covidvax.live/location/gbr the percent of the total pop inc under 16s?
CaveMum · 01/02/2021 14:56

France has a long history of vaccine hesitancy - a survey funded by the Wellcome Trust in 2019 found that 20% of those questioned in France believed that vaccines were unsafe.

I really enjoy the percentages and fractions shared on this thread. Particularly the daily update and how many of the priority groups are now vaccinated.

Thank you to the human calculator posters for taking the time to work it out for the rest of us who aren’t capable Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 01/02/2021 15:18

According to a piece in the Times today, mostly about US 'vaccine hesitancy', in a poll last month only 26% of French people said they'd be willing to take a CV vaccine. (Germany 44%, US 47%, Australia 66%, India 69%, U.K. 74%)

Hopefully the effectiveness and safety will show here and in Israel and UAE in the coming weeks and this reluctance will wane.

CaveMum · 01/02/2021 16:06

9,296,367 doses up to 31st Jan!

That’s an increase of 319,038 on the previous day!

gingeristhenewblack43 · 01/02/2021 16:07

The govt website says the vax figures were updated at 4pm today but it's still showing yesterday's figures of 8,977,329 🤷🏼‍♀️

gingeristhenewblack43 · 01/02/2021 16:09

Is this the where you get your figures @CaveMum

Mine’s showing the up to date figure, have you tried closing the page and reopening it?

CaveMum · 01/02/2021 16:10

I use the main stats page, it might be that the specific pages are slower to update?

Now it's working 🙌🏻

louisejxxx · 01/02/2021 16:11

I think you have to give it 10-15 mins for all the little “sub-pages” to update once the main page has updated.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 01/02/2021 16:12

Thanks @CaveMum I'll use that page from now on. 4pm is the highlight of my day 😂

mateysmum · 01/02/2021 16:21

So that's the highest Sunday total so far. 319,038 for the whole UK versus approx 220k for the previous 2 Sundays.

Onwards and upwards!
