For all your vaccine news, treatment development stories and other positive things to make you feel there is hope for the future!
Good news only please!

Useful websites we are referring to a lot:

Government daily statistics

Worldometer for international case number comparisons

Covid Messenger for local authority figures, thanks to LittleOwl for all her hard work!

OurWorldInData international vaccination figures

Omnicalculator vaccine queue calculator NB Please don’t take this too seriously- it depends what vaccine delivery speed and uptake you estimate so it’s not written in stone.

That sleeping owl photo has made my day. Who knew?!

LetItGoGo · 29/01/2021 09:58

We've all been there..

whenwillthemadnessend · 29/01/2021 09:58

FuzzyPuffling · 29/01/2021 10:27

That baby owl out-cutes everything.

Inastatus · 29/01/2021 10:32

Oh my such good news on lots of fronts 😀 and a yoga loving baby giraffe ❤️

Happy Friday everyone!

TeaInTheGarden · 29/01/2021 10:43

Awesome dose of positivity to break up the home schooling- thank you all!
(Especially the owl photos!!)

BigWoollyJumpers · 29/01/2021 10:46

I wish we had "likes" on MN.

The baby owl post should be post of the day Grin.

TheChineseChicken · 29/01/2021 10:53

The baby owl is brilliant

TheChineseChicken · 29/01/2021 10:54

I think I’ll have to add the daily cases thread to my list of ‘avoid’. Some scary stuff on there this morning

FuzzyPuffling · 29/01/2021 10:56

Can the baby owl join Marzipan as thread mascot please?
It seems to have exactly the right attitude to doom -mongers!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 29/01/2021 11:07

Do you mean the statistics thread ChineseChicken? New variant stuff? Don’t forget what Oxford woman said about how quickly vaccines can be reconfigured for new variants (48 hours, wasn’t it?)

Yes, that. Had a heart sinking moment Sad
louisejxxx · 29/01/2021 11:20

On giraffe yoga @Furries, my son’s home learning this week has been to write a commentary on a YouTube vid which is a cartoon of giraffe’s diving like they’re in the olympics Grin

LetItGoGo · 29/01/2021 11:30

I know what you mean ChineseChicken. I'm hopeful so long as I don't click on twitter interpretations..if I just watch the data report I'm fine.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 29/01/2021 11:36

That baby owl is ME after a week of work and homeschool!

😂😂😂😂😂
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 29/01/2021 12:20

I think if you are feeling worried about new variants and efficiency you should click on that interview with the AZ CEO on last page.

He is very sensible and reassuring about most the issues people have panicked or shit stirred this week.

Furries · 29/01/2021 12:29

That’s brilliant! Might look the videos up just for a smile.
Furries · 29/01/2021 12:30

@InterfectoremVulpes - thanks for the photos. Agree with everyone, the baby owl is epic (and another new fun fact for me to squirrel away).

farmerswifey2 · 29/01/2021 12:40

Yesterday was the first time since last year that our county, Ceredigion (mid-Wales) hasn't recorded a single new coronavirus case. We've also turned green on the Gov.uk map!

trunumber · 29/01/2021 12:58

Would someone on this thread be able to answer a question on vaccine immunity or point me in the right direction?

Oxford vaccine says immunity after 21 days. Is that slowly building up to a peak or does it literally first start at 21 days (that is are you a little protected at 15 days and more so at 21 or not at all at 15 days)

louisejxxx · 29/01/2021 13:16

@Furries here you go Smile

louisejxxx · 29/01/2021 13:17
