So they're not actually closing the border...
Just going to insist will never happen that people isolate?

Did Whitty just completely undermine the PM’s answer there?

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay

Good question Libby. Why are we only closing the borders now?

I suppose we’re not eradicating so cases not as much as an issue as these new variants which might undo vaccine programme

Maybe? But good to hear from scientific basis if makes sense

BIL and family had 2 phone calls a day and one unannounced home visit when they were quarantining recently.

Prof Whitty corrected the PM concerning what Whitty had previously said. I love Prof Whitty.
@tinselearedcow just that u can get it from standing too close in the queue or handling stuff while shopping, maybe not that scary but some kind of reminder or criticism intended there...
Thanks, that is a little bit worrying as I don't remember him emphasising those things before much.

I read, from the response to a question in the update about transparency and vaccines, that there are problems in the supply chain. Clearly they don't want us to worry and believe they will still meet the target that has been set.

Lol at bojo there's still some spring after Easter? To whitty who's backtracking nervous on what bojo previously quoted.

Report

That bit was after Bilge I laughed at that.

It was in the answer to the question about borders. Boris was going on about being important at this point to prevent people coming in from places where we know there are variants of concern. Which was followed up by Whitty talking about how we need to be prepared for a varient of concern might come from anywhere.

I wonder at what point people have to show initial test result - and how it’s set up

As ever they've probably yet to decide who'll be on the committee to determine that
Shame the "negative test to enter" thing wasn't done months ago, but it's of a piece with all the rest

Sir PV: virus tranmission is "Indoors... , Indoors..., Indoors... ,"

So why are the police focusing so much attention on outdoor activities?

Is this the best use of police time if the purpose of the lockdown restrictions is to reduce virus transmission?

Remove the police from the countryside and direct their efforts at indoor transmission: supermarkets, shops, workplaces, etc.

I've missed most of it because the kids are making more noise between 3 of them than an entire play centre full of kids!

What's been said.

Pfizer have announced possible delays to vaccine manufacturing could affect EU countries. I hope this doesn't affect us, as a non-EU country, too.
