@Doublefaced

Schools opening next week.
Don't be silly. If they are true to form they won't announce that on a Friday at 5pm. Oh wait...
Mindymomo · 15/01/2021 14:56

Jab by jab, we’ll win, but stay in over the weekend.

@Doublefaced

Schools opening next week.
Absolutely. Followed by a Monday 8pm announcement closing them again?
Robbybobtail · 15/01/2021 15:15

I think it will be the rollout of the “don’t let having a coffee take a life” slogan or some other such bullshit. Ramping up the fear factor so we daren’t step out the door.

HalfDutchGirl · 15/01/2021 15:16

@Kumquatsquash hahaha!! Love it!

Why is every question asked a ‘very good question’ when most of the time they aren’t very good questions, they’re the same questions that have been asked umpteen times already just with all the words in a different order!

rslsys · 15/01/2021 15:18

Not seeing how the Brazilian variant is a threat, Beauticians are supposed to be closed . . . .

Robbybobtail · 15/01/2021 15:19

Or maybe (to tune of rap from dub be good to me):

Mask, hands, face space, listen to Priti
And the advice you’re getting from prof Chris Whitty
“Go and get your shot”
“Go and get your shot”

Solasum · 15/01/2021 15:19

If it was reopening schools it would be on Sunday at 8pm with reopening on Monday.

It won't be 5pm, he'll be late. Unusual for him to be working at this time on a Friday. Though gets him out of potty training or nappy changing.

Blabla81 · 15/01/2021 15:21

This is what I envisage every time the “main speaker” punches out the “stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives”. It’s like they suddenly go into a brain washed trance.

Buying time to allow the brain to move on from "oh shiiiit not this again"

But we're still allowing the places selling coffee to remain open

Just don't get caught going to get one or you'll get a fine, but if you can avoid getting caught, you are free to get a coffee from all the places that the government is allowed to remain open - ok, clear?

Plus if you do go and get a coffee from the places we think are safe and essential and can thus remain open, you are taking a life.

"It is with great regret that I bring you the implementation of TIERS 6,7 & 8 for my hair, which will not comply with previous lockdown rules. Under these severe new measures I have HOPE - yes, HOPE, against ALL the odds that we can prevent further contact with aforementioned hair. Therefore, I am asking you all, to STAY IN. If you see my hair, or, indeed, any wayward strand of it, please, please report it via the test and trace HAIR app, which I, personally, have designed and endorsed.

Good night. Stay safe."

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 15/01/2021 15:41

@Frazzled2207

I think they committed to three times a week and this is the third this week tbf. Not expecting any major announcements given that the lockdowns finally appear to be working. Hopefully some good news on vaccines.
I thought they’d promised daily but they seem to have Overpromised and Underdelivered. Which incidentally was the name of their difficult third album.

5pm Friday is always omminous.

Its got to be REALLY important to screw up everyone's weekend.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 15/01/2021 15:44

I'm betting on something about us 'bearing down' on the virus. I can't stand that phrase.

Anniegetyourgun · 15/01/2021 15:46

"That's a very good question" = "thank fuck, I know the answer to this one". Mainly because he's answered it several times already. One of these days someone will ask an actually good question and Boris's head will explode, and/or their connection will mysteriously cut out. Again.
