Vaccine side effects anyone?

wetasstenalady · 14/01/2021 19:08

Had my vaccine yesterday all fine
Then at about 9pm my arm was killing all the way into my wrist bone and fingers
Woke up about 3am really shivering and had to put extra duvet then an hour later red hot.
Today I've had on and off temp and feel really fluey to the point I've had to lie in bed. Now can feel the temp coming back up
Anyone else effected like this? For information I tested positive in December

Had the Pfizer last week. Had a headache 6 hours later but dont know if that was the vaccine or just work related.
The next day my arm was heavy but I felt fine. No problems since

ImTakingTheEssence · 16/01/2021 23:20

I've had the Oxford one yesterday my arm is still aching. It's uncomfortable to sleep and started to feel tingly. I don't know if it's because I know I've had the vaccine or it's in my head, but I've felt really off today. My throat is killing and I just feel lousy.

Dawnlassie · 16/01/2021 23:34

I wonder if this will start to get publicity as more young people get the vaccine. Hopefully it doesnt put people off.

What do you mean?

fitflopqueen · 16/01/2021 23:51

Had 1st Pfizer on Thursday morning, stung at time, arm became more painful during day.
Friday - bad headaches, aching all over, shivers, joints etc and nausea. Cleared up about 5pm, wasn't working.
Today - woke up fine, injection site still a little tender. I am 56 and healthy, NHS worker and not had Covid to my knowledge.
Parents and inlaw aged 90.80 and 78 - no side effects - all had theirs same week..

AKissAndASmile · 17/01/2021 00:00

Just achy/ heavy arm for two days.

AKissAndASmile · 17/01/2021 00:00

I've not had covid

Oohhaveabanana · 17/01/2021 00:06
@RichardMarxisinnocent that's why I mentioned it, because it seemed an odd thing to say, I haven't been part of any trial previously for this vaccine.
Yes, I was informed it was part of a trial. I consented to be a part of the trial when I consented to have the vaccine.
The vaccinator said it was because they had never vaccinated this many people before.

Jenasaurus · 17/01/2021 00:13

I had the Oxford Jab yesterday, I feel tired and my limbs ache. I have heartburn and an upset stomach but I am starting to feel a bit better apart from the burning in my chest (I do get heartburn anyway so it could be unrelated) I am glad I had the jab on Friday evening so I hopefully will be over the worst side effects by work on Monday. The vaccinator (also a paramedic) told me that he had the Pfizer Vaccine and I told him my DS had the same one and had no side effects, he said "wait until he has the second dose" so sounds like he has something to look forward too. I am not sure how the side effects compare with the different vaccines but I am 56 in March and apparently the older you are the less likely you are to have a side effect.

Jenasaurus · 17/01/2021 00:19

The way it was organised was brilliant though and I cant fault my trust for the way they handled it all. They had a series of tents in the car park that resmbled something out of Alien! I was greeted by a teacher who was a volunteer, he asked me for my details but then a collegue of mine said its "jenasurus isnt it" that pleased me as I hadnt seen anyone since March and gained so much weight, plus wearing a mask I thought no one would recognise me.

I then went through to a curtained off part of the tent (there were about 6 of these where people were being vaccinated) the vaccinator was such a lovely man, he told me all about the vaccine and what to expect and joked with me as he had to ask me if I was pregnant or breast feeding, he said he has to ask everyone, and I said "even the men" to which he said yes, because they could be trans gender and pregnant...somehting I hadnt even thought about.

Anyway he was so lovely, put me at ease, gave me a card which he told me to look after as its something I can show to prove I have been vaccinated and it also has a space for my second dose. I then had to go to the end of the cubicles and wait for 15 minutes and then organise my second dose booking.

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 17/01/2021 00:31

@frumpety I don't think it would have been a trial without you really being aware of it, as they make you sign lots of extra paperwork. I work as a vaccinator and in pre-assesment one of the first questions that we ask is "Are you willing to take part in the covid-19 vaccination programme today?", I wonder if the person asking you accidentally said vaccination trial instead by mistake? I agree with you though, it sounds very odd.

Pfizer on the 13th. Felt like I'd been hit by a train 4 hours later, utterly exhausted, felt 'heavy'.
Lasted 24hrs.
15th started coughing, felt like a cold. 16th tested +ve.
Second round of covid for me.

MiniTheMinx · 17/01/2021 07:00

I had my first dose of Pfizer yesterday at 1300. Arm started to ache by about 8pm. So far nothing else.

ScrumpyBetty · 17/01/2021 07:24

I had Pfizer jab last week as I'm NHS.
Achy arm and body, chills and felt fluey for a day afterwards then I was fine Smile

Oh no that's bad luck. Hope you're feeling better soon. Do you know where you caught it from?

fresiaboquet · 17/01/2021 10:23

I had my first dose of oxford vac. Friday lunch time. Felt fine Friday afternoon. woke up in the night on Friday when I rolled onto my arm which had become v painful. Felt generally off yesterday. Sort of a bit shivery and just out of it. Went to be early and slept through for 13 hours! Didn't wake up till 10.00 and I NEVER sleep in (always up by 7 at the latest even with no alarm on weekends etc) Arm less painful today but still feel kind of odd. Like I am moving through treacle and everything is a massive effort. Meant to be going for a run today, but not sure I'm up to it. I'm a bit suprised to still be feeling off tbh, was sure I would wake up fine today.Hoping another good nights sleep and I'll be back to normal for work tomorrow.(I'm late 40s, no health conditions, fairly fit and not had covid that I know of)
My dad (82) has had both doses of the pfizer - was a bit under the weather for about 3 days after the first dose, but fine after the second.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 17/01/2021 13:26

DH and I had the Pfizer yesterday morning (HCPs >50). Very sore arms. Bad night with flu-like symptoms. Tired and achy today, but improving. I’m intending to have a lazy afternoon with my book to let my body get on with all the hard work of creating lots of lovely antibodies. Smile

FrankiesKnuckle · 17/01/2021 14:13

@covetingthepreciousthings Caught it from work probably (again)
I'm a paramedic, so our exposure to highly infectious people is very high, but it's ok as PHE deem our PPE as sufficient.

Northernsoullover · 17/01/2021 15:25

I had the pfizer this morning. Its been 5 hours and I'm exhausted. It could be because I had a crap nights sleep though.
It will be interesting to see if anything further happens

Dawnlassie · 17/01/2021 16:59

Surely thats just the test picking up your bodies response to the vaccine.

Pimlicojo · 17/01/2021 17:01

I know about a dozen people who've had the Pfizer vaccine. None have had any side effects other than a sore arm for 24/48 hours.

FrankiesKnuckle · 17/01/2021 17:34

@Dawnlassie apparently not. No false positives from the vaccine.
I still feel under the weather today, coughing++, chills etc

Porcupineintherough · 17/01/2021 17:38

@Dawnlassie a vaccine shouldn't make viral RNA appear in your nose and throat.

Clarich007 · 11/02/2021 15:26

Hi .I'm very grateful to get the vaccine so quickly.70 years old and healthy, not on any medication, so wasn't expecting any side efects. My flu jab is always ok apart from a sore arm.Mine was the Oxford AstraZenica
However, I wasn't prepared for how ill I felt last night, 12 hours after the jab.I suddenly developed a high temperature with a thumping heart, couldn't sleep at all Then chills developed and turned into a thumping headache. This morning felt like i had a hangover.Very odd and feel slow and heavy.I'm hoping it will pass quickly, it's not pleasant at all.

Mummylove246 · 24/07/2021 17:41

I fainted in the clinic after the jab soooo embarrassing felt so dizzy and lightheaded that was at 2pm by 11 pm I was calling for an ambulance convinces I was having a heart attack like my heart beating outve my chest I was nearly blacking out tingly fingers and I hardly slept a wink was just having impending doom feeling waving over me worst night of my life, so scared to have the 2nd dose
