Vaccine side effects anyone?

wetasstenalady · 14/01/2021 19:08

Had my vaccine yesterday all fine
Then at about 9pm my arm was killing all the way into my wrist bone and fingers
Woke up about 3am really shivering and had to put extra duvet then an hour later red hot.
Today I've had on and off temp and feel really fluey to the point I've had to lie in bed. Now can feel the temp coming back up
Anyone else effected like this? For information I tested positive in December

I've just got home from having mine - these are all side effects that I was warned of. Already getting the achey arm and feel a little out of sorts but I react in a similar way with the flu vaccine. Fingers crossed its a short lived side effect for you Flowers

Bellearoo · 14/01/2021 19:17

I had mine Tuesday afternoon and my symptoms were aching all over, and tiredness in that I could sleep for a week, but my colleagues have had other symptoms like you’ve described so it seems to affect people differently

BailOutChapsGingersGornSquiffy · 14/01/2021 19:18

Which vaccine did you have and what date did you test positive?

wetasstenalady · 14/01/2021 19:20

I had the Pfizer vaccine and tested positive 8th December

We W been told that the pfizer vaccine isn't ideal for people who've had covid as it can cause a bigger reaction but most of my colleagues felt like you did

presidentgerbil · 14/01/2021 19:22

I had mine yesterday afternoon, and in the evening I started feeling really rough. I've had awful aches and pains in my joints, bounced between shivery and feverish, and been unable to shift my headache. Hope it passes soon!

Senojeel77 · 14/01/2021 19:24

I had mine on Sunday. Achey arm as expected - but not as bad as the flu jab. Then on Monday evening a massive sneezing fit and what felt the beginning of a head cold, 2 antihistamines, a paracetamol and a good sleep and I was fine.

Someone I know is a medical professional. She has been told that the side effects are worse if you are younger and you have had covid.

SnowFields · 14/01/2021 19:30

Lots of people I know have had a sore arm with varying degrees of discomfort. It seems to be lasting a day or two but no more.

Isn’t a bit like the flu vaccine? Where you can feel generally like you have mild flu like symptoms for a few hours or days afterwards. My mum felt rotten and couldn’t lift her arm for couple of days.

BailOutChapsGingersGornSquiffy · 14/01/2021 19:37

I’m working in a Vaccination centre doing the pod admin. So I hear the vaccinators asking the required questions - so far I’ve worked with 3 nurses and 4 GP’s. One question is have you tested positive in the last 4 weeks (if answer is yes they can’t be vaccinated and have to come back at a later date). The symptoms you are experiencing aren’t unusual but are usually short lived. Having had COVID doesn’t make them worse.

Motorina · 14/01/2021 19:45

Had mine yesterday. Achy, exhausted and my arm is a throbbing mess.

And I can’t stop grinning because I will shortly be immune.

Everything I’m hearing is that a day or two of side effects is normal and TOTALLY WORTH IT. I will absolutely be back for my next appointment for dose 2.

yikesanotherbooboo · 14/01/2021 19:46

I was fine after the first vaccine but felt dreadful after the second for a day and a half. Most of my colleagues were the same. Better that than having COVID or even worse passing it on .

Oh so that would mean if a care home has covid cases they would potentially need to wait 4 weeks to vaccinate. Not good Sad

I know my mother inlaw didn't even get a sore arm with hers.

Whereas my sister is still complaining about her sore arm from flu vaccine in December Hmm

Porcupineintherough · 14/01/2021 19:55

My friend had the Pfizer vaccine and she had COVID last spring. She felt like you but said it only lasted one day, then she was ok again.

unique1986 · 14/01/2021 19:56

Seems so annoying to feel rubbish after having the vaccine.
Prob end up taking a day off work etc.

unique1986 · 14/01/2021 19:57

And how bad is the pain of the needle..

unique1986 · 14/01/2021 19:58

And what about the follow up injection?

Flyingwiththecanons · 14/01/2021 20:01

@unique1986 my second jab was booked today for the 9th April. My injection hurt less than the flu jab and less than a blood test. It felt a bit warm going in but honestly a bee sting hurts more

Haggertyjane · 14/01/2021 20:04

DH has a sore arm, nothing else (healthcare worker)

unique1986 · 14/01/2021 20:05

Cool. Flu Jab sounds bit rubbish.

Criticalfoxhat · 14/01/2021 20:10

I had a slightly sore arm the day after but that's it. Some of my colleagues had Nausea, headache and felt a bit crap but it passed quickly.

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 14/01/2021 20:14

My Grandad has had his last week, he had a arm ache and chills that same evening which lasted a few days. What was odd, he started vomiting straight after he had it, (when they ask you to wait for 15 minutes)
