1.5 million people vaccinated already - brilliant!

They’ve vaccinated 1.5 million people so far and the target is 13.9 million people (the top 4 groups in the attached graphic) by the middle of February, according to ITV. It’ll be a fantastic achievement if they can hit that target.

The government will be providing daily updates on the vaccine rollout progress from Monday 11th January.

It’s such a relief that they’ve got this vaccine and are rolling it out quickly across the country. Considering that it’s only 8th January today, I truly feel like 13.9 million by mid February is achievable.

Come on, let’s do this!

Sweepstake vote: Friday 8pm (hopefully!)
Brilliant news about Asda. Think I read that Boots Pharmacy are getting involved too and if the flu jab was anything to go by, they were super efficient.
This thread is my happy place.

Go Asda! Grin

Such good news amongst all of the gloom.

My partner's Mum (aged 82) had her second Pfizer jab last week!

Alfaix · 13/01/2021 14:47

I did 32 people this morning with Pfizer Grin

buttery81 · 13/01/2021 14:54

Thank you @Alfaix! Grin

I just love hearing these stories and thinking that it's another person who's had the vaccination and is safe!

Sorry there's a video but I can't link it: It shows Jonathan Van Tam vaccinating people yesterday in London.

"Prof Jonathan Van-Tam, the deputy chief medical officer for England and a regular at No 10 press conferences, told LBC this morning that he has been helping personally with the vaccination programme."

I want JVT to do my vaccine pretty please!

What a wonderful thread! I'm tempted to hide all the other covid threads on my list and just keep this one. So positive.

Excellent work asda too!

TheDrsDocMartens · 13/01/2021 15:27

My husband is getting his this afternoon. They’ve not got any in our area yet but she’s getting it at the nearest hospital via work.

I’m in the CV group but can make a case as a key worker too. Whilst I’m not out in public I’ll wait.

WetJan · 13/01/2021 15:37

This thread has stopped me from deleting the app altogether, Thankyou!

I've got my jab Fri morning, via the GP. Despite my trust saying we'd be prioritised as peripatetic frontline staff (I work in a general hospital and bounce around all the wards/ED) my GP got there first. Does anyone know what the minimum gap is for the second? Three weeks? I know it's more important to get as many people as possible, but if there's some heading for the sink I'd rather have it and be topped up then it be wasted (there's been a far few call outs for drop-in clinics for people to grab end of batch vaccinations, and I imagine that will continue, especially with the Pfizer).

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 13/01/2021 15:37

I know a couple if over 80's who have had two jabs as well and they seem to be rolling out in my area well so far

buttery81 · 13/01/2021 16:42

Claxon.... we have now vaccinated 2,639,309 up to and including 12 January 2021.

Source: coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

That’s 207,661 more jabs than the 11th January figure. I would like to revise my guess of 3 million by Friday afternoon to 3 million by Thursday evening! Grin

My Saturday prediction is now looking almost embarrassingly pessimistic! Grin

I’m revising my prediction to 2pm Thursday.

I'm nhs and I had mine today huzzah!

buttery81 · 13/01/2021 17:53

Fantastic @Shehasadiamondinthesky!

It’s so wonderful that 207,000 more people have been protected in the space of just 24 hours!

Once the older folks are done we can speed up further. I do wonder if there is a supply issue. My DM late 80’s has heard nothing.

buttery81 · 13/01/2021 20:39

My DM late 80’s has heard nothing.

@Bathroom12345 There’s 4.5 million people to get through in the first three sub-groups (care home residents 0.4 million, care home workers 0.7 million, people aged 80-plus 3.4 million). We’ve “only” done 2.6 million so far, with 1.9 million still to go. 207,000 people were vaccinated yesterday alone, which is pretty good going! So I don’t think it’s a supply issue - more that your DM just happens to be one of the remaining 1.9 million. Hopefully she will hear very soon!

OP posts:
thatgingergirl · 13/01/2021 20:43

I'm sure she'll hear soon, Bathroom12345, and I hope it is a quick turnaround for her. My dad is 88 and has COPD - got a text on Monday from his surgery and had his vaccination this morning.

Bathroom12345 · 13/01/2021 20:46

Thanks Buttery. You are of course right. Having said that there are medical professionals saying they could do more with additional supplies. Nadiam Zahawi wasn’t very forthcoming.

I would also have my vaccine at 0300 if required. Just think- you would never forgot that day! Likely to be less of a queue as well.
