1.5 million people vaccinated already - brilliant!

They’ve vaccinated 1.5 million people so far and the target is 13.9 million people (the top 4 groups in the attached graphic) by the middle of February, according to ITV. It’ll be a fantastic achievement if they can hit that target.

The government will be providing daily updates on the vaccine rollout progress from Monday 11th January.

It’s such a relief that they’ve got this vaccine and are rolling it out quickly across the country. Considering that it’s only 8th January today, I truly feel like 13.9 million by mid February is achievable.

Come on, let’s do this!

If actually do start doing 24/7 instead of the current office hours they could double the number 800-900,000 per day...

Agreed!!!

I know it’s hard to do and may have a lot of no shows but seriously.... we are in a crisis, schools and businesses closed, why aren’t they vaccinating 24 hours? I understand supply but surely they could do elderly during the day and younger frontline staff, other groups at night?

Where the supply is the limiting factor all you'd be doing is spreading the appointments by doubling the hours.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/01/2021 15:54

Exactly. Supply is utterly the limiting factor.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/01/2021 16:01

Today's data is out.

478,248 doses across the UK yesterday. 5,861,351 total now :)

I'm a bit concerned about the impact that snow will be having this weekend, but vaccination centres seem to be pretty good at rescheduling.

jcyclops · 23/01/2021 16:13

Amazing numbers, again! I’m assuming we’ll see the same drop off in the weekend numbers tomorrow and Monday with Scotland and Wales not reporting?

CaveMum · 23/01/2021 16:53

So close to hitting the target number of daily vaccinations!

Yeah, I think so too. Let's circle back on Wednesday Wink

I saw in the news today that eu is going to have Oxfords vaccine supplies lower than what was agreed
Pfizer as well said at the beginning of the week

Is the uk going to be affected about something similar ? Haven’t seen anything in the news

These numbers are so good !wish they continue this way!

The issue with the Oxford vaccine appears to be with one of the subcontractors used for the batches for European countries. Apparently the UK's batches are not affected.

For the Pfizer vaccine, they are having to pause production briefly so that they can reconfigure the Belgian plant to increase production. That may affect the UK but hopefully not too badly.

notevenat20 · 23/01/2021 17:17

The Oxford vaccine we use is made in Oxford and then finished/packaged in Wales.

notevenat20 · 23/01/2021 17:17

Is there any info on how much of each vaccine we are using?

This is so heartening. Great thread Smile

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 23/01/2021 17:35

We had 40 million doses of the vaccine in warehouses a few weeks ago.

Think any supply issues will be the safety checking and re bottling. That apparently is slowing deliveries down. They have recently made that faster though.

Sturgeon made some kind of comment on how much more we now have stocked up. This was immediately deleted and she was told off by Westminster apparently. I think the government has hoarded the vaccine realising supply issues could hit.
