1.5 million people vaccinated already - brilliant!

They’ve vaccinated 1.5 million people so far and the target is 13.9 million people (the top 4 groups in the attached graphic) by the middle of February, according to ITV. It’ll be a fantastic achievement if they can hit that target.

The government will be providing daily updates on the vaccine rollout progress from Monday 11th January.

It’s such a relief that they’ve got this vaccine and are rolling it out quickly across the country. Considering that it’s only 8th January today, I truly feel like 13.9 million by mid February is achievable.

Come on, let’s do this!

4.3 million vaccines given when you include second doses. 💉💉💉

If my calculations are right... 1 in every 17 people in the UK has now been vaccinated!

This shows the number of people per 100 of the population who have had a vaccine. We are over 6%

It doesn't say if people have had 1 or 2 vaccines.

If you resort the data by number of vaccinations given we are 3rd - obviously Israel and Bahrain have much smaller populations (

Reported in the Telegraph: Every single care home resident has had their first jab in Newcastle.

That is brilliant news.

I would run run run away if someone came towards me with a syringe dripping with what looks like blood though 😂

I think trafford is on the ball. MIL and her friends (all in 70s and not in care homes) all done.

Fabulous Wine

50% of care homes residents now done too

Tentativesteps133 · 18/01/2021 15:09

Yes my parents in Trafford got a call from the GP yesterday and had theirs this morning. Both in their 60s, got the Pfizer one.

Frazzled2207 · 18/01/2021 15:18

@Tentativesteps133
60s! Wow. While that’s fab it is frustrating that my 70s parents in Wales haven’t heard a thing and v few if any 80+ In their area have been done. Wales v slow but pleased to hear so many areas in England on the ball, it helps the overall picture

Tentativesteps133 · 18/01/2021 15:21

@Frazzled2207 yes my 97 year old (housebound) grandad in Wales hasn't been done yet, it doesn't seem right really. I guess we've just got to be glad that some areas are showing that it's possible to move at pace and the others catch up soon.

farmerswifey2 · 18/01/2021 15:24

@Frazzled2207 Wales is really beginning to let the side down with Mark Drakeford being reported by the bbc as saying one of the reasons more of the supply had not been used at once was to prevent "vaccinators standing around with nothing to do"....

farmerswifey2 · 18/01/2021 15:25

Sorry, that was meant for @Tentativesteps133

Frazzled2207 · 18/01/2021 15:27

Indeed very frustrating for Wales! That said they seem to think that they will still get all the over 70s done by mid feb. Also they have done 150,000 (vast majority are hcps) which means overall nearly 5% of the population which is comparable to England. If they get the hcps out of the way then hopefully they can then crack on with the age groups very quickly

I would be interesting to hear where various council areas are up to, but there is apparently some leaning going on to prevent transparency on this.

Call me a cynic but Graham Brady's patch being ahead does smack of internal Tory politics going on. And the Welsh being stiffed for supplies is also consistent with the same thought.

I do hope that journalists are keeping an eye on this.

Its a real postcode lottery and in some cases there will be people just a couple of miles apart who are worlds apart in terms of when they will get the call.

InterfectoremVulpes · 18/01/2021 15:54

I think there was a reduction in the number of vaccines given yesterday. Tbf I'm not surprised that fewer people wanted an appointment on a cold Sunday in January 😅

I'd like to know to, but tbh I kinda understand why local figures aren't being released. If some of the sniping about the way spares are being given out is any guide there would be murders if it was revealed some places had jabbed more than others!

I want to know too.

However I can't stand the thought of all the negative news stories that could be made to wind the public up. Rather have cheerful news at the moment Smile

Did you see a number and was it just the England figure?
