1.5 million people vaccinated already - brilliant!

They’ve vaccinated 1.5 million people so far and the target is 13.9 million people (the top 4 groups in the attached graphic) by the middle of February, according to ITV. It’ll be a fantastic achievement if they can hit that target.

The government will be providing daily updates on the vaccine rollout progress from Monday 11th January.

It’s such a relief that they’ve got this vaccine and are rolling it out quickly across the country. Considering that it’s only 8th January today, I truly feel like 13.9 million by mid February is achievable.

Come on, let’s do this!

Apologies if I’ve missed it, is there a way to check how many vaccinations/how many groups have been vaccinated in my area?

I’ve noticed many posters commenting about the amazing progress in their towns and I’d like to check.

Thanks again for this thread, OP. This and the yoga section bring me some peace each day.

I've only seen local newspapers with this kind of information. I don't know where you'd get this on a national level.

lunar1 · 16/01/2021 19:41

Over 4,000,000 vaccines given in total!

So wait, im just trying to work this out... the government dashboard shows 3.5mil as of yesterday so we've done 500k in a single day?

Although it could be slightly less if you adjust for reporting delays and cut off points when data are reported. But its still an amazing number.

SophieB100 · 16/01/2021 21:04

So, I want the Pfizer, administered by JVT, in Salisbury Cathedral please.

Well, we can dream, can't we?

Isn't this lovely:

It even mentions that we need a Blue Peter appeal accumulator to show the daily tally - which I believe was suggested by another poster on the early pages of this thread!

I can’t tell you how thrilled I’d be if Janice had borrowed my idea from this thread Grin

Took my very elderly, frail mum to be vaccinated and it was very efficient. Lots of very helpful volunteers moving everyone in and out ,and felt safe and actually made me rather emotional. I get sick of the relentless negativity recently it made a change to be somewhere that felt positive.

I wonder if one is the total vaccines and the lower one is the individual people as some have had two doses.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2021 22:26

This is excellent!
It's really coming together locally too. There's a real feeling of hope.

louisejxxx · 16/01/2021 22:28

Just seen on Covid Messenger that today my area officially changed to green/falling - so pleased! :D

psychomath · 16/01/2021 22:50

I think this is it as the numbers are about right. So 4m shots given total, to 3.5m people.

Using the very scientific method of holding a knitting needle against PrincessNutNuts' happy chart, I have determined that we're well on track to hit the first dose target by Feb 15th!

I have used my own scientific method (aka the tilty head squinty eye method) and concur.

I'm loving the positivity of this thread Grin

All our local vaccinations were postponed on Friday due the the snow and ice we had. Everyone was told to keep the same time but go today, the feedback so far is how well organised it is and what a lovely atmosphere.

I just want my extremely clinically vulnerable mum to get it - I'm hoping it won't be long 🤞

CaveMum · 17/01/2021 12:12

Sir Simon Stevens was on The Andrew Marr Show this morning. This from the summary:

The NHS is vaccinating at the rate of 140 jabs a minute, and Sir Simon says he is "confident" the NHS will deliver 1.5 million vaccines this week

PrincessNutNuts · 17/01/2021 17:35

A different #CheeryChart today.

It doesn't show second doses, which I disapprove of, because I think it's important to keep a good eye on that, as people aren't vaccinated until they've had both.

But it draws some "knitting needle" lines for us to save us squinting so I thought it was worth posting. Smile

PrincessNutNuts · 17/01/2021 17:41

Also, the number of people who need vaccinating in this first target group is 13.9 million. The 15 million number being bandied about is - I believe - arrived at by adding up everyone in all categories without seemingly understanding that you can be over 70 and ECV, or a health worker and ECV.

By the time the vaccinators get on to the 2.2 million group 4 of the priority list over a million of the ECV will already have had jabs as part of earlier categories.

So the finishing line is even earlier than this graph suggests.

I love the idea of calculating it by the minute - or about 2 jabs per second by that calculation! So by the time I've finished this post, several people will be much less at risk.

Keep on jabbing!

Just dropping by quickly to say we have now vaccinated 3,857,266 up to and including 16 January 2021.

CaveMum · 17/01/2021 18:08

Great stuff. Slightly down in daily terms, but still with more mass vaccination hubs coming online this week, each capable of 1,000-1,500 people a day each that can only keep going up.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/01/2021 18:09

The general promise now seems to be to get the over 50s done by end of March.

Some of the rumours are saying the actual aim is mid February.

So fingers crossed that happens.

My local council have now announced that the over 70s and group 4 will get letters next week Smile

Scotland and Wales don't report their numbers at the weekend and N.Ireland have an earlier report cut off date than England so this means we will have an extra large dump of numbers tomorrow!
SomethingOnce · 17/01/2021 18:41

Nothing useful to add, just catching up with the thread and cheering on Team Jab Grin

CaveMum · 17/01/2021 18:53

@InterfectoremVulpes d forgotten about no reporting from Scotland and Wales, thanks. It will distort tomorrow’s figures slightly so it will be Tuesday I guess before we get a better idea of actual daily increases.
