800 patients A DAY being admitted to London hospitals with Covid

Official figures from the NHS. Meanwhile stupid people are protesting outside hospitals calling it a hoax and other people are busy on social media telling others it's a con and the vaccine is highly dangerous.

And other stupid people are blaming the government. It makes me despair I'm afraid. People are their own worst enemies.

Have you got links to share to these official NHS figures or of protests outside hospitals?

Do you not think the government bears any blame at all for the situation we find ourselves in?

conkersarebonkers · 07/01/2021 18:03

NHS England data here: www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/covid-19-hospital-activity/

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 07/01/2021 18:03

Ah it's ok, they probably all have "underlying conditions" or really old Hmm

Ohbabybab · 07/01/2021 18:04

I feel like some people aren’t take it seriously this time. So many people looking for loopholes to do their own thing. I’m really concerned for hospitals, I don’t understand why some people don’t seem to understand that if this carries on there is a very real risk of collapsing the health system

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2021 18:06

Figures here are still shooting up with no school or Christmas mixing

Exactly. I am so sick of everyone expecting that special covid consultant will should personally sit them down and explain it carefully with charts and official figures signed off by the head of the nhs himself and witnessed by the head of the Labour Party (because obviously if you didn't vote for a party they are corrupt liars) before they will wear a mask or get the vaccine or even believe the FACTS.

I got that FACT from the bbc news announcement at 5pm today. Official figures. As part of the covid briefing it was pointed out that we the public do not have access to every single piece of technical information provided by epidemiologists, scientists, the nhs etc. It's not appropriate to provide it. Just get over it people and grow up.

My parents were telling me that covid patients from London are being flown to Leeds hospitals by helicopter because there is so little space in London

LaurieFairyCake · 07/01/2021 23:21

The figure of 800 was announced on tonight's government briefing too Sad

Totally terrifying

Itisasecret · 07/01/2021 23:25

I actually think it is going to take the NHS to collapse before people get it. Then it’s too late. You only have to see the KW threads. Entitled is used a lot. People knowing they could and not thinking whether they should. We are in a real state and that’s not accounting for all the hospitalisations we’ve got coming.

whittystitties · 07/01/2021 23:33

Kid are not to blame for this, they've not been in school since 18 Dec, it's not the kids, it's families mixing with their multiple bubbles and having their little Christmas infection parties - what did they expect would happen. Everyone had their one day of fun, all the old people took one for the team, as suspected they would. Genius.

The hospital admissions now will be from term time. So although the kids aren’t to blame. The adults in charge are, for letting it run rife through children who are the most infected subset of the population.
TheGreatWave · 07/01/2021 23:38

Bloody hell, where are they all being put?

And yes the government do have a huge amount of blame in this, don't absolve them of responsibility.

The are absolutely to blame, what kind of hairbrained idea was it to have one day of mixing in the middle of a storm, stupid
TheGreatWave · 07/01/2021 23:43

I didn't mix, instead my MIL is safely cocooned on a hospital ward.

Oh wait she probably isn't safe especially as they won't give her a jab.

Mintjulia · 07/01/2021 23:44

At this stage, who is or is not to blame, is irrelevant.

The only thing to do is to follow the instructions of the Chief Medical Officer which means stay at home and cut contact with others to the bare minimum. We can argue about it later, when the rates have fallen a bit.

switchitup99 · 07/01/2021 23:45

A friend told me of a friend today admitted to hospital

Caribbean British, had a big family Christmas with adult children because it is the family way... all went down with Covid before New Year Eve.... Dad, mid 50's, BAME, overweight, diabetic.... now in hospital with the whole family praying......

I hate our Government. This one is on them

abitofpeace · 07/01/2021 23:50

Sometimes I get tired of people blaming the government. Common sense should have been used at Christmas, many people just want to offload the blame. I’m not even a Tory voter but feel sorry for Boris Johnson. On one hand there are the Covid deniers, on the other people who understand the severity of the situation.

Poorlykitten · 07/01/2021 23:51

It’s a lot to do with the new strain which is highly transmissible. And yes, I’m blaming the fucking government. They are a shambles. Last minute decisions left right and centre.

To be fair they still made the decision to all get together. I hope the Dad does pull through.

Absolutely agree with this. We all need to take responsibility here rather than acting how we want to then blaming the government
Myshinynewname2021 · 07/01/2021 23:57

@switchitup99 are you insane? How is it the governments fault that a family totally ignored their constant advice/ the rules. You are as dim as they are of you are trying to pin this one on a government.

You want an accountable government? You accept that they will enforce the rules. You accept they they will control you. You absolutely can not expect anyone to be accountable unless you accept being controlled by them.

Which, let me guess, you don't.

How many of you would have agreed to have extended that four week firebrick? lockdown all over Dec and into Jan? not many I bet.

That's scary. I'm furious with the Govt, but there has to be some personal accountability here too.

No that one is not on the government.

My family didn't mix over Christmas. I've not seen most of my siblings - I have a lot - since last Christmas/New Year period and the last two I saw close up in person was in February 2020.

However the government is to blame for not instigating a lockdown to allow the NHS to cope on 22 December when they were warned the NHS would be overwhelmed if they didn't lockdown and they allowed Christmas mixing.
