@EmmaWithTheGreatHair
I heard Samuel L Jackson in my head then. But as Nick Fury.

RedToothBrush · 04/01/2021 18:12

@JamieLeesCurtains

there needs to be a new slogan, ooh, wonder what it will be this time?

No. More. Tiers

Fears for Tiers

I thought

We are fucked

Was sufficient tbh.

IHateThisVirus · 04/01/2021 18:12

Loudtree - I'm so glad I'm not your neighbour!!! You r hilarious!

On another note! - just wondering what would happen if Borris DOESN'T close the schools tonight!! ... Imagine the backlash!!

If (as we predict) he DOES close them - he's at best completely incompetent (as we all know!). If he DOESNT close them - crikey! Words would completely fail me!!

He can't win!! (Not sure he likes losing)

HoollyWugger · 04/01/2021 18:16

Apparently on the Welsh news they said all four UK nations have agreed tier 4 all round, possibly for three months.

Dahlietta · 04/01/2021 18:23

But what the Scots have in place is a lot more than Tier 4!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/01/2021 18:26

New slogan ought to be "What Nicola Said".

Poppydex · 04/01/2021 18:32

@LoudTree

Hopefully he will announce a real lockdown for the first time- no one leaves home until April 1st unless a genuine key worker.

A neighbour in my street is a (totally non-essential) construction worker and has been asked repeatedly by myself, DH and several neighbours to go on furlough to reduce the risk of transmission to the area. He has refused Hmm

No exercise, no popping to the shops for a bottle of wine Hmm

It needs to be properly enforced- army on the streets issuing £500 fines for non key workers, supermarket bags searched for non-essential items.

You need to consult your doctor if you genuinely believe what you have just said is rational.

Wtf. Stop scare mongering. I bought myself some new pyjamas today - would that be allowed by the Covid Patrol or is only bread and dripping acceptable as we stare at walls and weep?

CrispySock · 04/01/2021 18:45

Fuck I was hoping Golf would be banned but apparently Scotland has allowed it.

Bonkerz · 04/01/2021 18:49

What was being broadcast as a possibility a few hours ago seem to be a certainty now.

I think bread was deemed non essential by some posters last year so it might be dripping on its own or, even better, gruel made with water

Beebityboo · 04/01/2021 18:51

Do opticians and dentists close, does anyone know? The DC's are all overdue for this stuff because the appointments keep getting cancelled/someone has to isolate etc.

It's funny because what would you actually do?

Imagine the MN thread?

"Next door neighbour requested I go on furlough, AIBU to tell her to get tae feck?"

Ellieboolou33 · 04/01/2021 18:59

I've a dentist appointment tomorrow I bloody hope it's not cancelled!

I'm sick to the back teeth of all this - pun intended.

Seriously, the cure is becoming worse than the disease.

Jaypreen · 04/01/2021 19:02

Seriously, the cure is becoming worse than the disease. It has been for some time Ellie

Sparklingbrook · 04/01/2021 19:03

Dentists are still allowed to open in Tier 4. I don't see why they shouldn't. I know they can't do some procedures still though.

Jaypreen · 04/01/2021 19:05

I'm new here. Is Loudtree known for excessively condescending moral judgements?

Goatscheesewithhoney · 04/01/2021 19:08

@LoudTree - That was funny 😆

Lauren1983 · 04/01/2021 19:12

I actually don't see them closing all schools. It would be such a massive climbdown. My predictions are everyone in tier 4 (maybe not those in the isles of scilly!) with London in a new tier 5 level. All schools in tier 5 closed, tier 4 primary schools to remain open but all secondary schools in both tiers to do remote learning until Feb half term.

I would be very shocked if they didn't close. With the amount of news agencies and people in the know saying schools are to close, it seems to be a certainty at this point.

Oh they will, they will.
Yes, it will be a massive climbdown, but the unions have forced his hand. That and the ever rising scary numbers.
This is why it's an announcement, pre-recorded, so no awkward questions.

whataballbag · 04/01/2021 19:21

@Wynona

For anyone that likes to follow the evidence (wherever it leads) this is one of the best sources I have found.

Take Vitamin D.

Yes to this. I take 5000iu per day. Bought the same for ECV dad, and mum and stepdad too.

I don’t think the unions were the main issue but it will be numbers based
