I am surprised to see the reaction to requesting a neighbour to on furlough. The way me and DH see it anyone leaving home unnecessarily is putting the whole street at unnecessary risk of catching the virus

Unless you routinely go in and out of each others houses or lick each other in passing, I think you'll be OK.

Anyone else furious that schools were kept open just for today?

How many infections will that cause because of that bumbling twat's inability to make a decision?

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 04/01/2021 16:30

There’s been so much dithering, I can’t understand why there wasn’t an announcement over the weekend, it’s scandalous that some primary schools have been open today, it really beggars belief!

We absolutely need tighter restrictions, the whole tier system needs rebranding, there needs to be a new slogan, ooh, wonder what it will be this time?

No. More. Tiers

LadyCatStark · 04/01/2021 16:31

@LoudTree

Hopefully he will announce a real lockdown for the first time- no one leaves home until April 1st unless a genuine key worker.

A neighbour in my street is a (totally non-essential) construction worker and has been asked repeatedly by myself, DH and several neighbours to go on furlough to reduce the risk of transmission to the area. He has refused Hmm

No exercise, no popping to the shops for a bottle of wine Hmm

It needs to be properly enforced- army on the streets issuing £500 fines for non key workers, supermarket bags searched for non-essential items.

WTF you can’t go round asking your neighbours to go on furlough 🤨 this is the craziest thing I’ve heard during this whole pandemic ( not including the government’s announcements of course).

Yes. If he announces school closures, then he- or whoever made the decision, but the ultimate responsibility is his- is an even bigger idiot than I thought possible. It's not even been two full weeks since Christmas Day. The absolute melt.
Theunamedcat · 04/01/2021 16:32

I'm tier three im expecting school tomorrow

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 04/01/2021 16:36

Good night....

Too little too late. My school and many others were open today, how much damage has been done from today's mixing? 😕
LindaEllen · 04/01/2021 16:36

Can't be anything but a full lockdown I wouldn't have thought. I mean, we all saw it coming, but it's suddenly shit when it's staring us directly in the face.

7vio · 04/01/2021 16:37

LadyCatStark, I agree with you, it’s nuts, and it’s very scary to think that people think it’s normal?!? Just mind your own business ffs!

bathsh3ba · 04/01/2021 16:38

Is there any indication of how long this will be for?

Chimpanme · 04/01/2021 16:38

We are now Covid Level 5 - it will be a full lockdown.

I read this in disbelief then read who had posted it. I think it’s trolling, to stir and spread despair and anger, because we all need this right now, don’t we?

I’d ignore

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 04/01/2021 16:40

It's tree lined and so not the sort of area one might expect to find common illnesses like this one

@GhostPepperTears Exactly. It'd be much more befitting for the residents of your street to suffer from gout Grin

StinkySaurus · 04/01/2021 16:40

Worried about the impact on childcare support bubbles...

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 04/01/2021 16:40

You can't just bloody apply for it if you are an employee!!

I’d have applied long ago if you could!

Thing is, your definition of essential/unnecessary is pretty warped.

Hopefully BJ will issue a very clear stay at home order- unless you are a key worker, stay the fuck at home.

Furlough is available for non essential workers and should be used. Anyone who has the opportunity to access furlough but chooses not to is selfishly putting their community and the NHS at risk Hmm

... You should go live in China, I think you'd like it there
GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 04/01/2021 16:42

@BuggerBognor

Great - kids have spent the day licking their mates' faces and sneezing in each other's lunch, just in time to be sent home for the foreseeable.

Lots of joined up thinking there. Stupid fuckers.

Reckless incompetence from the Government.
oneglassandpuzzled · 04/01/2021 16:43

@Underhisi

"So, are posters suggesting LoudTree is the poster who was previously outraged about people buying honey or the one who suggested using cheese instead of milk in hot drinks?"

Could be the one obsessed with neighbours buying gin.

I was going to collect my birthday present from Waitrose (had it sent there via John Lewis). It’s makeup, completely and blissfully non essential. Will I be shot if I still go and get it?
Randomrebel · 04/01/2021 16:43

I think it must surely have been meant as a joke.
