@LoudTree

I am surprised to see the reaction to requesting a neighbour to on furlough. The way me and DH see it anyone leaving home unnecessarily is putting the whole street at unnecessary risk of catching the virus.

Hopefully BJ will issue a very clear stay at home order- unless you are a key worker, stay the fuck at home.

Furlough is available for non essential workers and should be used. Anyone who has the opportunity to access furlough but chooses not to is selfishly putting their community and the NHS at risk Hmm

You are funny! Have seen your previous comments on other threads.

But I will bite. If you and your oh are staying home, how is your neighbour putting you at risk? Working or not?

Imagine wanting to provide for your family - how selfish?!

Wishing14 · 04/01/2021 16:19

Just gutted I’m pregnant and can’t even have a glass of wine!

Ormally · 04/01/2021 16:20

And don't forget the laser guided sharks

Given how 'world beating' the logistics have been so far, this seems to be the way they'll be going:

It needs to be properly enforced- army on the streets issuing £500 fines for non key workers, supermarket bags searched for non-essential items.

FFS, get a grip. You can stick your fines and bag searches where the sun don't shine. Sideways Angry

I have high speed broadband and managed to work quite well from home.

luckyrabbits · 04/01/2021 16:20

@LoudTree I don't usually comment on things but I am appalled by your logic. If he is a construction worker he is likely outside and therefore less risk. The country is in a precarious position, we need to reduce spread but the economy is important too. There will be zero NHS for anyone if we don't keep the things going that we can with relatively low risk.

Fandaddydoozie · 04/01/2021 16:21

I imagine that Boris is the sort of chap who pops to the loo and fails to get a single drop in the bowl! He's a walking disaster and leaves a trail of mess behind him.

AaronPurr · 04/01/2021 16:22

I've just seen the news. Like many others, I've been at work today in a primary school. Sad

BamboozledandBefuddled · 04/01/2021 16:23

We also have high speed broadband but I don't see how that would help DH work from home when he's supposed to be driving a loading shovel in a quarry Hmm

My DH is self employed he is luckily able to access some of the grants. But plenty are not.
If he did completely shut he would not have a business to come back to.
Furlough would also not completely cover our costs, so what then?

PinkSpring · 04/01/2021 16:24

Great, so my DH who is a delivery driver will still be expected to work - yet DD won't be able to go to school as it's "not safe" and I will not be able to work because of no childcare. Awesome.

Lemonpiano · 04/01/2021 16:24

I can only see the BBC referring to the threat level being raised to 5, not a tier 5.

Beebityboo · 04/01/2021 16:25

How long do you think school closures will last?

OP posts:
vickyp0llard · 04/01/2021 16:25

LOL you can't just furlough yourself - your employer has to not need you to work! How on earth is your neighbour putting you at risk, unless he's barging into your house?

rosie1959 · 04/01/2021 16:26

I do wonder there are some batshit ideas on here Reality check some people have to go out to work they dont get furlough As for policing shopping get a grip

Assuming he’s even employed and eligible You know furlough is a capped amount and not your full pay don’t you?
PhilCornwall1 · 04/01/2021 16:26

Furlough is available for non essential workers and should be used.

You can't just bloody apply for it if you are an employee!!

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 04/01/2021 16:26

A neighbour in my street is a (totally non-essential) construction worker and has been asked repeatedly by myself, DH and several neighbours to go on furlough to reduce the risk of transmission to the area. He has refused

And you'd get the same response from me too – probably with a few expletives thrown in.

I'm not a key worker but my colleagues' jobs rely on me doing mine. I'll carry on going to work until I'm physically prevented from doing so. There are other important things in the world, apart from this damn virus.

PurpleHoodie · 04/01/2021 16:26

You and you husband need to weld your windows and doors shut LoudTree. And don't come out for the next 12 months

(When they're shut up, someone local nip round and snip off their Broadband for goodness sake)

You'll be right as rain by next year LoudTree.

(Stick some mobile signal blockers up round their garden also so they can't use those either. Prize for the quickest MNer)

HarrietOh · 04/01/2021 16:26

Support bubbles being abused pisses me off. No way am I spending lockdown alone again, I did 5 weeks in lockdown 1 completely alone no other human contact, I went mad. It seems absolute madness to me now that me and DP spent so much time apart (when we both live alone and WFH) - even if they stopped support bubbles I would ignore.

Lemonpiano · 04/01/2021 16:27

@Beebityboo

How long do you think school closures will last?
Probably same as Scotland, so at least the rest of this month.

Hopefully the first two categories of vulnerable people will have been vaccinated by then and we'll start to be seeing a difference.

Dogatetheleftovers · 04/01/2021 16:28

Robert Peston from ITV just tweeted to say the PM will announce tier 4 restrictions nationally, schools closed, outdoor exercise permitted but no team games. If true, why just tier 4 when all the scientists say it’s not enough?

trappedsincesundaymorn · 04/01/2021 16:28

@LoudTree

Hopefully he will announce a real lockdown for the first time- no one leaves home until April 1st unless a genuine key worker.

A neighbour in my street is a (totally non-essential) construction worker and has been asked repeatedly by myself, DH and several neighbours to go on furlough to reduce the risk of transmission to the area. He has refused Hmm

No exercise, no popping to the shops for a bottle of wine Hmm

It needs to be properly enforced- army on the streets issuing £500 fines for non key workers, supermarket bags searched for non-essential items.

You're hilarious...pure comedy gold.

Pink what is kw provision at your school?

Think it includes delivery people? Or do you both need to be kw

They're saying the current version of tier 4 where schools are open and team sports etc etc are allowed isn't enough. If tier 4 is modified to close schools etc then it will be a different result?
