Is BoJo expected to make an official announcement today or is it just speculation?

@GypsyLee

only the rich have the luxury of staying at home during lockdowns

Or the poor who have lost their jobs.

Exactly.

Plus the retired and the chronic sick.

It isn't always a luxury either so don't make sweeping statements, that shows your ignorance.

Im getting an urge to buy toilet rolls.

Do you not have a pile from the last time around? Grin
StormBaby · 04/01/2021 15:45

Until they change the ‘work from home’ wording I will be stuck coming to the office sadly. As I’m sure will millions of other non essential workers. My company follows the guidance to the absolute letter and until they say that going into other peoples homes to work is unsafe(which it clearly is!), I’ll be here directing the delivery crews.

Tillsforthrills · 04/01/2021 15:53

Just ordered one big pack of toilet rolls for tomorrow Blush resisted the urge to get more.

Oh god, let's not start the panic buying again. Sad

Randominternetbitch · 04/01/2021 16:01

I’ve just bought 800 packs of loo roll and 4000 bags of pasta.

Buckle up folks, its about to get UGGLLLYYYY!!!

Sparklingbrook · 04/01/2021 16:03

I have no pasta or tinned tomatoes. I don't like pasta or tinned tomatoes but do I need to go and panic buy some anyway? And maybe some UHT milk which I also don't like?

likeamillpond · 04/01/2021 16:06

I stull have panic bought pasta and bread flour (only type i could get at the time)
from the first lockdown.
Oh the things I was going to make!

CorvusPurpureus · 04/01/2021 16:25

@dreamingbohemian I could not agree with you more.

It's going to be interesting arguing with a bloody minded 16yo with his Covidiot dad cheerleading in the background...Hmm Angry.

ineedaholidaynow · 04/01/2021 16:26

I still have the industrial sized bag of pasta I bought from Waitrose which was the only thing they had in stock for a while. Still ploughing our way through it

ancientgran · 04/01/2021 16:29

I had a pack of 8 (or was it 9) loo rolls with my Sainsbury's delivery last week. I can go into lockdown with my head held high. I'm not sure the half a loaf of bread sitting in the kitchen will last long. We shouldn't have had sandwiches for lunch.

PriceEmUp · 04/01/2021 16:30

Why the f*#k do people panic buy?

Things are still being stocked in the shop. The reason you can find 6x24 toilet rolls is because wall wine with the same idiotic idea as you have just feckin brought them all for no reason.

I hope each and every one of your bog rolls land in the toilet so you’re left without after everyone has panic brought the shops bare.

You do understand people are trying to see a funny side. Jesus Christ on a bike. The country's going to shit. Let us have our bog roll jokes.
dreamingbohemian · 04/01/2021 16:34

@CorvusPurpureus gosh that really sucks. Good luck! I do think they will close the borders to non-essential travel though.

edwinbear · 04/01/2021 16:49

DH came back from Sainsbury's with scented toilet roll yesterday, so I tore a strip off him and obviously went straight back out to get the unflavoured version. I shall insist he uses the scented and leaves the proper stuff for me. That should tide us over.

jessstan1 · 04/01/2021 16:56

Is there a toilet roll shortage again? Thankfully I still have a good supply, and kitchen roll and tissues.

My milkman did not leave eggs this morning, didn't have any of the type I specified. I have put in an order for two different brands of eggs on Wednesday in the hope that one will be available.

There never was a toilet roll shortage. Then people started panic buying causing the shortage. Hmm
GabsAlot · 04/01/2021 18:32

oh stop stockpiling theres nothing wrong with supply

i think it will from tonight otherwise why do a press briefing so late justt to say its in a couple of days

jessstan1 · 04/01/2021 18:54

Sparklingbrook, I meant recently - now. I know there was one earlier in the year, it was difficult to buy toilet rolls then but since then it has been easy. I was wondering if it was difficult again. It won't affect me right now, I live alone and have quite a few packets but was thinking of others who may run out.

Good. I know how difficult it was last year, especially for people with families. Not only toilet rolls but nappies and any paper goods.

There has never been a shortage of supply of toilet paper form the manufacturers since this all began. The shortages on the shelves in shops was caused by the panic buyers. If everyone controls themselves and just buys what the need all will be fine.

It won't be 'difficult' unless people make it that way.
