Not everywhere...but yes - sadly

Yubaba · 01/01/2021 22:20

I hope not but I think they will.

FoxyTheFox · 01/01/2021 22:21

It's looking increasingly likely.

I'm not sending my DC back next week. Eldest is at home anyway as secondary age but I'm keeping the younger ones at home too as I think matters will be clearer by the end of the first week. Back to school is rough anyway (two DC with ASD who find transitions hard) so I'd rather they were home from the get go than chop-change-chop-change.

Freddiefox · 01/01/2021 22:21

I think they will close tier 4 schools

Agoodbriskwalk · 01/01/2021 22:22

I really fucking hope so.

PodgeBod · 01/01/2021 22:23

My child's school is closed anyway but I'm wondering if they will close nurseries next?

BanginChoons · 01/01/2021 22:25

As much as I don't want them to and it's a massive inconvenience to my life, I think they should. And I wish they would just do it now instead of going back for a week or two first.

Lauren1983 · 01/01/2021 22:29

Yes but probably not until the kids have mixed for a few weeks first. I'm fully expecting DD to be in the 4th but also that schools will close by the end of the month.

Givemeabreak88 · 01/01/2021 22:30

They’ve already closed my kids school

TokyoSushi · 01/01/2021 22:30

Yes, I'd say they'll all be closed by the end of the month but likely before. Goodness knows until when. It's a complete nightmare for working parents but hopefully this will be the last time.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 01/01/2021 22:34

Yup. Teaching unions might finally find some balls. You never know

Panickingpavlova · 01/01/2021 22:34

I honestly don't know but I can't see how they can assure parents the school is safe so I don't see how they can keep them open.

Sickofthiscrapp · 01/01/2021 22:35

I hope so. But I just received an email from schools saying all open as normal on Monday.

EagleFlight · 01/01/2021 22:35

Yes, in T4 at any rate. Probably all of England before long. Scottish schools are staying closed.

ofwarren · 01/01/2021 22:36

I really hope they do

Juststopswimming · 01/01/2021 22:36

I hope not but im becoming increasingly resigned to getting my head around them closing.

If they do shut, and are shut for a sustained period again I think this entire school year needs repeating. So many kids were already behind. Its just not ok to expect them to "catch up".

pringlebells · 01/01/2021 22:36

I'm in T3 and no mention of closing the schools as yet

deliciouschilli · 01/01/2021 22:37

It would be very foolish not to close them all until we have the new strain under control.

covetingthepreciousthings · 01/01/2021 22:38

I'm expecting an announcement before Monday that they are closing them all. Closing just London schools isn't going to work..

Starlightstarbright1 · 01/01/2021 22:38

Tbh yes i hope they do.

welshweasel · 01/01/2021 22:39

@Juststopswimming how would you propose that would work?!

Bagamoyo1 · 01/01/2021 22:40

I hope not.
There’s no need and it’s unjustified.

ComDummings · 01/01/2021 22:40

I think it would be batshit not to close them at this point even for a couple of weeks to see how this ‘new variant’ progresses. And I see the huge benefits to children being at school so this isn’t me just being scared.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 01/01/2021 22:40

I don’t think they will be in Wales.

And I think it’s going to only make things worse...

DarcyJack · 01/01/2021 22:41

Well London and Essex and some other home counties schools closed now, soon to be followed by all tier 4 schools I would guess
