@Bathroom12345

Anyone know about the vaccine supply question. 530k vaccines don’t sound much for tomorrow.
I think that’s just the immediate batch that has been through quality control and it will be ramping up quickly after?
BBCONEANDTWO · 03/01/2021 20:26

@Layladylay234

Hey all. So my new year's resolution was to stay away from the mainstream media until they started offering fair information and sharing the good as well as the bad. Oh, and to stay off the Mumsnet Coronavirus topic. Was doing really well until today when I fell down a hole of schools are reopening hysteria. My son is secondary so is off until 18th Jan anyway but my stepdaughter is still at primary. All the hysterical threads had me worried about her going back.

Then I gave my head a wobble. We live in Leicester, our rates are actually at the national average for once (we've been above them for a lot of the time) and even when they were up at 550 over Nov time (we had a spike around Diwalli time), our kids were still in school and we were still living our lives. So I started thinking rationally that actually, she's prob got less chance of catching it now then she did a few months back.

Anyway, my good news for today is I've FINALLY finished my vaccinator training! 18 certificates all uploaded, now I just have to do background checks (which again, there's about 20 components to) and then hope my character references agree to do me one.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll finally be able to submit the last piece of the application by the end of the week.

Fan bloody tactic - good luck and thanks for taking this on 0 you're gonna be saving lots and lots of lives - you're a hero.

Yes it’s just what is arriving tomorrow(think it’s more than 530k). Fergus Walsh reported AZ had 4 million doses ready,....as I typed this Coronavirus Good News on Twitter has just reported we have 24 MILLION doses ready or close to being ready!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 03/01/2021 20:28

I thought it was already here not arriving tomorrow- the tomorrow thing is that they will be starting using it tomorrow. I am positive there have been news stories about it being delivered to hospitals.

chri55ie · 03/01/2021 20:32

Sorry yes already arrived. Tbh I was more excited about having 24 million doses close to hand!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 03/01/2021 20:33

Grin Fair enough!

BBCONEANDTWO · 03/01/2021 20:34

OMG 24 million doses - Uk population of 66M that's really really gonna make a big dent. I am so happy hearing this news.

Great!!
chri55ie · 03/01/2021 20:37

Tbh I thought they had a lot more than 500k as everyone made a huge thing about making the vaccine before it was approved. 24 million included Pfizer as well. It’s all reported in the daily telegraph....breakdown as follows if you are interested.

chri55ie · 03/01/2021 20:40

530k Oxford ready to be used tomorrow
450k Oxford arriving within 24hrs

3 million in vials Oxford waiting for safety checks should take a few days

15 million Oxford waiting for ‘fill and finish’ again only takes a few days apparently

5 million Pfizer in vials within the U.K. ready to be used

FourTeaFallOut · 03/01/2021 20:42

I think, although I can't remember for certain, that we have a batch ready to roll which we are using tomorrow, we had 4m that were manufactured out of the country and we have heaps ready to be put in to vials. But, I'd struggle to put my hand on any of that information.

Crazycatlady83 · 03/01/2021 20:43

@chri55ie thanks so much for the breakdown! I saw the Coronovirus Good News Twitter but couldn’t see the article as behind a paywall! This is good news (but of course it won’t get airtime!!)

FourTeaFallOut · 03/01/2021 20:44

X-post. Chi55ie sounds far more knowledgeable - ignore me 😁

chri55ie · 03/01/2021 20:44

And Oxford committing to 2m doses a week from mid jan. so I think it sounds good! Just need to get it in peoples arms now!

chri55ie · 03/01/2021 20:46

I’ve just got all the info from the daily telegraph....I had been keeping an eye on it over recent months so sounds right to me. I just can’t understand all the negativity in the press about supply? Sounds good to me!

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 03/01/2021 20:48

How long do we think it’ll take us to get up to speed with delivering a decent amount of vaccines per week? It’s great that so many doses are ready, we need to get them into people now! My parents are 76 and 77 and I can’t wait for them to have it.

FourTeaFallOut · 03/01/2021 20:51

It sounds great to me too. 24 million is heaps and will surely change the shape of the pandemic in this country.

chri55ie · 03/01/2021 20:51

I’m not sure maybe a few weeks?? They’ve got enough people wanting to help that’s for sure!

Layladylay234 · 03/01/2021 20:51

God those numbers are incredible,I'm just desperate to get all my admin sorted now and start doing it. Great news about the cases falling as well

Thanks for all the lovely comments as well guys x

I have my fingers crossed they don't take too long to get to group four. I know that's
spectacularly Machievellian of me but I'm so desperate to get this jab and not be the weakest link in our house.

MarshaBradyo · 03/01/2021 20:55

I’m not on the list I just need a a way out if this ever spiralling reduction of our lives!

Today has been hard. Just thinking about what next.

I need some hope!

Totally understandable. I’m not in any kind of risk group so way down the list but I just want them to churn through the priority groups asap so we can return to some semblance of normality and those at risk can live more safely

I believe the good thing is that people who are vaccinated probably won't transmit the virus.
LJC1234 · 03/01/2021 21:02

I felt great today then fell down the hole of reading posts on the coronavirus board . I've found myself to this post and I feel so much better . Thank you all
