More good news! Delighted :)

fadingfast · 08/01/2021 12:26

You’re all too quick for me with the good news!
BBC report: Moderna becomes third Covid vaccine approved in the UK www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55586410

IcedPurple · 08/01/2021 12:31

The European Medical Agency is now saying that they hope to approve the Oxford vaccine by the end of January.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/01/2021 12:34

Some great news coming now. We're on a roll!

Em777 · 08/01/2021 12:45

Really pleased to hear the gov have ordered another 10 million doses of the Moderna vaccine. They’re building a very strong portfolio.

TeaInTheGarden · 08/01/2021 12:52

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel sorry I didn’t mean hide them, just maybe don’t shout about them in the scary way they do now (the media I mean)
Or focus on them in a positive way of course.

TeaInTheGarden · 08/01/2021 12:56

Is the j&j vaccine the one that’s one dose or is that novavax?
Do we know how quickly we could get the j&j one if it’s approved...?

FourTeaFallOut · 08/01/2021 12:57

J&j is one dose. Not sure about Novavax.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 08/01/2021 13:10

@whataballbag

I'm hopeful for good news on 15th Feb, as it's also my birthday!
Smile
TeaInTheGarden · 08/01/2021 13:13

Thank you! Lots of positive stuff ☺️

FourTeaFallOut · 08/01/2021 13:20

Oh, it's better than that, I really should read more closely. From my own above link Blush...

Taskforce adviser Sir John Bell said he was hopeful J&J supplies could reach the country in time for British vaccination rates to pick up by mid-February.

thatgingergirl · 08/01/2021 13:27

I understand the UK have ordered some of the Moderna vaccine, but it is another that needs to be kept at low temperature. Hopefully by April, that won't be such an issue.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 08/01/2021 13:46

I'm so annoyed by this phrase I have just read (Daily Mail so I am not surprised): "But so far the UK's vaccination scheme has been plagued by supply and staffing shortages, logistical problems and bureaucratic barriers strangling its scale-up, meaning only 1.5million have received at least one dose so far."

I know the Govt is rubbish, but this is totally untrue. 1.5 million is a brilliant achievement!

Bearsbearsbears40 · 08/01/2021 13:48

I think by “bureaucratic barriers” they mean “approval of a miraculous vaccine”!

thatgingergirl · 08/01/2021 14:01

Bearsbearsbears40 - I see that "only" word - it irks me so much!

What has that journalist done to save humanity?

Nothing just written drudge to make people feel depressed

Tg for scientists

Sebw · 08/01/2021 14:03

For those who don't already, the vaccine minister Nadhim Zahawi is worth a follow on Twitter as he retweets a lot of positive vaccine related stories.

They could have put a different slant on it- dedicated and determined NHS staff have overcome supply and staffing shortages, logistical problems and bureaucratic barriers to deliver an incredible 1.5 million doses!

This from the local rag - Superdrug and Boots both administering vaccines.

God damn daily fail. What’s worse is that a very many people will start parroting this as though it’s fact.
Pomegranatespompom · 08/01/2021 18:30

More lovely news 😊

GoldenOmber · 08/01/2021 18:39

Am sure it’ll start ramping up fast from next week. Before you know it, it’ll be “can’t believe we’re only vaccinating 1.5 million a day, laughing stock of the world, what an utter shambles!” Wink

Ladies I need to leave Mumsnet it is driving me insane , teachers constantly moaning and I can't bear to hear the talk of social distancing lasting until December ... this thread is the only one that keeps me going

Keep up the good work xxx

It's infuriating isn't it. It's so far removed from what I'm seeing from people in RL. People generally seem to be feeling a lot more positive outside of here.
