Watching on catch up. Why are they still wittering about the second dose thing? I thought that had been explained many times over?

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 07/01/2021 17:33

Yes mid February really isn't that far away. It felt almost springlike briefly here today. The sun was shining and there was a bird out making a racket. It was a nice reminder of what is around the corner. I feel very much for anyone in the NHS, they must be so exhausted and down in some places but I hope they have seen the news cases are starting to slow down. I really hope that translates into fewer deaths soon.

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2021 17:34

Geez it’s hard to follow I think I’ve lost my briefing ability

FuzzyPuffling · 07/01/2021 17:34

Cases are still going up in our neck of the woods (but I think we're a bit backward down here!)

Just watching the daily briefing, and I feel it's good news that Simon Stevens is coming out swinging, and with near contempt at the people putting disinformation out and undermining the NHS:just seen the positive impact that's made on my better half who's a basically burnt out frontline NHS worker.

Totally agree, he’s not as smooth as some of the other medical types who do the briefings and is saying it more like it is.
MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2021 17:40

He was great re the hospital videos on SM comment

chri55ie · 07/01/2021 17:47

Could someone let me know where the saw Sir John Bell on the BBC? Was it in the briefing? Want to have a watch because I really really like him!

TheChineseChicken · 07/01/2021 17:48

Yes, he’s very good. I hope some people who are wavering about a vaccine will change their minds when they understand the value of it

chri55ie · 07/01/2021 17:49

Also is it worth watching the press briefing? I always find them anxiety inducing!

TheChineseChicken · 07/01/2021 17:50

Thank god for these wonderful people working so hard to get this all done. It must be incredibly stressful and exhausting

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 07/01/2021 17:51

John Bell is the last part (10-15 minutes?) of the BBC News Special before the briefing.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 07/01/2021 17:53

It’s much less anxiety inducing than they usually are because it skips over how many people have sadly died and talks about what they have been doing and what the rest of the plan is to get groups 1-4 jabbed by Feb 15th.

Inastatus · 07/01/2021 17:55

@chri55ie - Sir John Bell was on BBC1 just before the press conference. I found the briefing quite positive although a bit like the ‘Fast Show’ as Fuzzypuffling has pointed out 😅

chri55ie · 07/01/2021 17:56

That’s great! Thanks so much for the quick replies!

FuzzyPuffling · 07/01/2021 18:01

I loved The Fast Show..."Vaccinations...BRILLIANT"

‘Today I will mostly be wearing a mask’ 😅

Crumpetycrump · 07/01/2021 18:07

Did they mention at the briefing when they hope to vaccinate the other high risk groups - groups 5 - 9 so including the over 50’s? I thought it was by Easter but haven’t heard mention of it recently.

FuzzyPuffling · 07/01/2021 18:07

Boutros Boutros Ghali. Today the vaccination teams will be scorchio! :)

OP posts:
FuzzyPuffling · 07/01/2021 18:09

Actually crumpety I am wondering this too. Group 6 contains some really quite at risk people - those with diabetes, heart or kidney disease, asplenia.... I'd like to see a push to get them all done too. (And yes, I am one!)
