How are people’s vaccinator job applications going?

We had a previous thread which I’ve lost. So after originally filling out the form to register my interest in Nov with NHSP and being told I’d hear back within 7 days I only got a link to fill out a proper appt a few days ago.

Done the application now and been told to wait to hear if I’m successful or not. I can really only weekends as I have a substantive 9-5 job to do but hopefully they will want all hands on deck and not turn a registered HCP who knows how to wield a needle away!

@Olympicfan that's great news. As you know i was also offered a HCA / admin role instead of vaccinator . I'm pleased she has accepted the offer. Still great experience for her . Do wonder if anyone who applied through NHS professionals will actually become non healthcare vaccinators .

Scitech · 03/02/2021 19:18

Just got the email for consent for occ. health assessment. After reading this thread I’m not expecting much. If I get any work at the end of it I’ll be pleased whatever it is admin or vaccinating.

Frazzled2207 · 03/02/2021 20:02

Fab news! I’m coming to the conclusion that it’s not going to work out, sadly

Wincher · 03/02/2021 20:58

Hi all, just catching up on this thread. I did my SJA in-person training at the weekend and am now certified to vaccinate. Just waiting for access to the app now! I have a teams meeting to meet others in my borough tomorrow so might find out more about what is needed locally.

Irritatingly my kids’ school can’t/won’t give me a keyworker place on days I do shifts (DH is a keyworker) so I can only do evenings/weekends for now. Ah well, it’s only a few weeks until they go back to school...

Gadzookery · 03/02/2021 21:02

that's great Wincher! So pleased there are some of this on this thread making great strides!

Hopeful646 · 04/02/2021 07:23

That's great news wincher. The SJA route seems much more successful.

Layladylay234 · 04/02/2021 17:08

Hows everything going with your @goldpendant? I've given up on hearing anything but still pop on here to see other people's experiences

goldpendant · 04/02/2021 18:04

A few admin bits since I did the training a week ago. Nothing since. I chased today. I have an NHS email address but nothing else!

cathyandclare · 04/02/2021 18:06

Another email saying I'm "deployable' and to let them know what shifts I've booked but STILL no log in or ID badge.

I emailed but they just say that I'll get them when I'm deployable.

SpringerMonster · 04/02/2021 18:15

@cathyandclare if you know who the site lead is for the venue you want to volunteer at they should be able to get you booked on. I know around here some site leads are getting people on shifts without the sja id too.
Very few sja volunteers are actually vaccinating tho, so don't get your hopes up if that's what you really want to do. I've done one vaccination shift right at the start but there seem to be some issues with scope so its mostly stewarding and patient advocate now

Frazzled2207 · 04/02/2021 18:57

Does anyone have an actual phone number for sja. I’m quite pissed of with the apparent unavailability of local training (person who called me said I could definitely do it in Manchester but couldn’t tell me why I couldn’t physically book on)

Frazzled2207 · 04/02/2021 18:57

Ps email is an dead loss I’ve sent about 10

Gadzookery · 04/02/2021 19:48

sorry I don't have a main number for SJA. I've had my welcome email from the area leader and then an email this afternoon where they sent the GPS roster system log in - only they didn't attach the document they were supposed to so I could log in. I've advised them and now hoping I'll hear back. Too late for me to get rostered on any shifts this weekend now so hopefully will be able to make a start next week....although not holding my breath....realise they're all very busy but the process can be quite demoralising. Everyone will be vaccinated by the time I'm able to help....!

Thanks for this. I'm a doctor working in a non-clinical field so happy to do anything, vaccinator/steward/whatever.

I've applied for anything and everything just to help out/feel like I'm doing something. I seem to have spent days trying to volunteer. It's very frustrating. To be fair, SJA have been way quicker than the NHS.

Layladylay234 · 05/02/2021 11:46

So I've just had a voicemail from NHSP asking me to complete the final part of my application. Which I thought I had (the last part was picking which area of the country I wanted to work in). Just logged on and theres now a whole new section asking for shirt size for uniform, asking questions about tax, asking me to put in my bank account details. I know that section defo wasn't there when I last logged in! @goldpendant,did you answer those questions as well and @Olympicfan do you know if your daughter did?

Olympicfan · 05/02/2021 12:45

Yes, she did @Layladylay234.

There was an A, B or C section about P45, tax, pensions, benefits etc.
She had to send a photo for the ID badge and complete 2 further online modules and put in her bank details. This was on Tuesday. She has heard nothing since.

Is your NHSP job for a vaccinator or Health Care Assistant?

cathyandclare · 05/02/2021 18:10

BREAKING NEWS!!

I have my log in and there are shifts to book, lots of them. I haven't got my ID badge, so have emailed to check. Exciting.

HildegardNightingale · 05/02/2021 19:12

That is fantastic @cathyandclare. I have my induction on Tuesday. Seems us oldies will be back at work soon.

cathyandclare · 06/02/2021 10:51

Good luck on Tuesday Hilde!!

Chardonnay73 · 06/02/2021 11:49

So I’ve had the link to GRS. Try to log on and it says it will send me a one time passcode to log on. Except it hasn’t sent anything 😩😩🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

cathyandclare · 06/02/2021 11:59

I'm on the GRS, I used the password that I used with the training thing ( I was emailed one with the sja email, then changed it I think) and I didn't need another. Worth a try?

I'm on and it looks like there are loads of shifts, but when I click book there is no location. Probably a good thing as I haven't got my ID.

Chardonnay73 · 06/02/2021 14:10

Managed to get on, don’t ask me how!!! Have volunteered for a shift on 16th February, hopefully my ID will be here by then...🤷‍♀️

cathyandclare · 06/02/2021 14:33

@chardonnay73

Was your individual GRS log in emailed to you directly? I just logged in using the info in the vaccination volunteers digest. I can't see any shifts to book, so wondering if I've done it wrong.

cathyandclare · 06/02/2021 15:18

I followed your lead and booked a couple of sessions on 15th and 17th Feb. Sending positive vibes for ID badges!

HildegardNightingale · 06/02/2021 15:38

@cathyandclare and @Chardonnay73 good luck for your shifts!!
