How are people’s vaccinator job applications going?

We had a previous thread which I’ve lost. So after originally filling out the form to register my interest in Nov with NHSP and being told I’d hear back within 7 days I only got a link to fill out a proper appt a few days ago.

Done the application now and been told to wait to hear if I’m successful or not. I can really only weekends as I have a substantive 9-5 job to do but hopefully they will want all hands on deck and not turn a registered HCP who knows how to wield a needle away!

@cathyandclare, to be honest how I got in I don’t actually know!! I got myself all flustered and pissed off and then one of the millions of log in I tried suddenly worked!
I’ve chosen a shift and now waiting for the confirmation email. It’s not actually within my hub areas there was nothing available but in the second city ( clue as to my location there 😉)
I have also emailed my hub leader to chase the ID badge.
We wait and see... 🙏

DD has her (paid) training day on Tuesday.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 08/02/2021 11:11

Just found this thread. I started the application process through NHSP back in December, did all of the online training over New Year etc, then heard nothing for ages. 10 days ago I was emailed to say my application was being reviewed and to share my e-LfH details and send certificates to them. I also needed to apply for face to face BLS and vaccination training, which I did, but I've heard nothing since. At this stage I can't see how they'd possibly have any work for me to do since so many people have already been vaccinated. So frustrating.

Great news. Hope that goes well!!

It is frustrating but not necessarily a dead loss. The impression i have is that lots of nhs people have been pulled out of their normal roles to do the vaccinating. Surely that’s not sustainable long term as these people will need to go back to what they usually do. Also once there is more supply more people will be needed. This is going to carry on for a long time. Am fairly disheartened too though.
Olympicfan · 08/02/2021 12:31

Dr Sarah Jarvis was on the BBC at the weekend. She said at her GP practice, doctors and practice nurses had been doing the vaccinations but this is not sustainable. They now have a real back log with regular check-ups for people with chronic illnesses and the regular GP ailments that people need to discuss. She said the second doses are likely to be given by the practice nurses and health care assistants.

DD has been recruited as a HCA.

cathyandclare · 08/02/2021 12:38

I've been asked for my DBS again!

Must be the fourth or fifth time.

HildegardNightingale · 08/02/2021 16:39

@cathyandclare oh no that’s so disheartening.

Olympicfan · 08/02/2021 17:51

DD has had about 8 emails from the NHS today! She now has an NHS email address, information about clothing - no uniform, just wear smart casual clothes with wipeable shoes (!), training links for tomorrow, banking details etc.

It seems to be all happening now.

Olympicfan · 09/02/2021 10:30

So DD is doing her training at the moment. 90 HCAs all online on training via Teams. The training is for being a vaccinator; so she will not be doing admin after all. She will have further face to face training at a hub. Training today is 9am-4.30pm.

Hopeful646 · 09/02/2021 11:18

That's great news @Olympicfan . I've not heard anything from my local trust for over a week now . I've decided to just volunteer ( in any capacity )at my local vaccine hub instead for now .

Jennilanch · 09/02/2021 11:40

Is there a number you can call to check status of application? I completed all the online training beginning of jan and heard nothing? Or is it simply just wait and see?

HildegardNightingale · 09/02/2021 13:33

Just had my induction morning. Lots of retired RHCPs in the mix. Looking forward to starting my job next week.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 09/02/2021 14:32

I went on the live chat on the application portal to ask if the fact that i hadn't heard anything so long after I'd applied meant that I wasn't going to be needed, but they said just keep waiting...... I did get the person to confirm that they'd email when they'd finish recruitment so I'd know when to officially give up. Might be worth going on the live chat as it seems to be different in different areas.
Foilball · 09/02/2021 17:44

I've been sent some NHS polo shirts, and asked to upload photos for ID, but haven't heard anything from NHS professionals.

nyenc · 09/02/2021 23:26

@Foilball I'm at the exact same point as you. Got 2 horribly thin and see through NHSP polo shirts and got the link to upload my photo today.

blinkboo · 10/02/2021 12:17

Hello all, I wondered if anyone could tell me how to choose a trust? I am on the corner of several different counties and I don't know how to find out where the vaccination centres are for each? They could be miles away. (I know our nearest one doesn't use non healthcare vaccinators so that wouldn't work.)

cathyandclare · 10/02/2021 12:39

I've been sent to order a second SJA t-shirt and a fleece. Promising developments. My ID is 'on its way'. I need it for Monday, but I'll go anyway and take passport, DBS etc as a back up.

Layladylay234 · 10/02/2021 17:54

I had an email today saying my shirts would be delivered and have also had an account set up to upload a pic for an ID card. Have you done your video interview with NHSP where you have to hold up your ID and so they can prove you are who you say you are?!
Foilball · 10/02/2021 18:11

No, I haven't done that! I don't even know if they're planning on using me, so I'm not sure why they keep sending me stuff

kittensmittens1 · 11/02/2021 13:14

Just wondering has anyone started yet??

Booked on for my training finally.

I have a friend who claims they're earning £19 p/h through nhsp to vaccinate (they are unregistered) but I have read it's £10.09-11.19.

Does anyone know? It's obviously a big difference! I think they're bullshitting!

sounds a bit high. I do know if you're near London, there's London weighting applied (I think) which might account for the difference?
HildegardNightingale · 11/02/2021 16:14

RHCPs are earning £12.70 where I am. Vaccinators are on £10.19-£11.19.
Tbh I would have done it for free if they’d asked.

Missypuff30 · 11/02/2021 20:30

Had my interview for SJA today! The system was sorted out for my finally.

I've done the SJA e-learning already (I think), but no invite to face to face training yet.

Anyone who's done SJA route- is it just the vaccinator pre learning and GDPR courses on there? The email lists some others for SJA that I can't find.

I know I've got to do the separate NHS stuff too.

Layladylay234 · 12/02/2021 17:46

Update from me. I've had my polo shirts arrive and today received an email asking me to attend for f2f training and an induction of the site. So it appears things are now moving. What will happen after that is anyone's guess! Is there anyone else on this thread who applied through NHSP as non healthcare vaccinator and is actually working yet?
