Is anyone braving booking a holiday for the summer?

Being inundated the past few days with e-mails from holiday companies with their January sale offers on. I'm actually really surprised how much they are pushing this considering most countries have banned UK travellers entering at this time, and things look pretty bleak for the next few months. I don't think I can personally face booking anything just yet despite being desperate for a 'proper' holiday (I had to much hassle trying to claim back money booked for holidays in 2020). Am I being too pessimistic? Boris after all appears pretty confident things will be looking much more optimistic by Easter time.

I booked a holiday ( in england) the day boris anounced national lockdown in march thinking it was the ideal time with no one else doing the same worked out ok.

If things dramatically improve then everyone will be booking up so I would say get ahead of the game.

DazedandConcerned · 30/12/2020 19:38

I’ve booked for Egypt in May, July and December. I expect them to go.

underneaththeash · 30/12/2020 19:38

We're booked all year - all moved from last one!

Marchitectmummy · 30/12/2020 19:44

Yep we have bookd to be away for the summer holidays.

elQuintoConyo · 30/12/2020 19:47

Nopety nope.

Staying put until I and my family have had the vaccine. Not hard, is it?

PumpkinPie2016 · 30/12/2020 19:47

No. I have tentatively booked the lake district for Oct half term.

That's largely because we go most years and know the owner of the cottage well so I know she will refund/move dates if needs be.

HelloMissus · 30/12/2020 19:48

I’m tempted.
DH and I are 52.
We might get a vaccine by then...

jillypill · 30/12/2020 19:49

No have a May one moved from last May but don't see the point in booking anything else at the mo.

Ginfordinner · 30/12/2020 19:54

No. Our holiday last year was cancelled. I can't be bothered to try going abroad if there are going to be lots of restrictions. A holiday abroad isn't essential travel. I will sit it out for the time being. We will look at something in the UK later on in 2021.

DragonMamma · 30/12/2020 19:55

We only have rebooked ones from this year. We’ve cancelled one for the end fo May as I don’t think it’s going to go ahead anyway but we have another booked for July which I’m slightly more hopeful for.

We have rebooked a cruise to 2022 and I’m almost certain that’ll go ahead 😂

WobbliHead3000 · 30/12/2020 19:56

We have a holiday booked to a Greek island in June... hopefully it can go ahead.

InterfectoremVulpes · 30/12/2020 19:57

I have a holiday booked for Easter that was moved from this year but I am holding off booking for summer until April/ may time

Ellmau · 30/12/2020 19:59

I wouldn't book anything now. I have something booked in August which was deferred from this year, but I'm not all that optimistic about it atm :(

tootyfruitypickle · 30/12/2020 19:59

I can’t be bothered until restrictions are lifted. Just too much hassle booking day trips in advance and I definitely would rather stay in my house and walk around the local commons than go round a historical site wearing a mask.

Frazzled2207 · 30/12/2020 20:00

well my june 2020 hol was moved to june 2021. I'm holding out but think it's 50/50. I wouldn't be booking anything, no.

Wakeupin2022 · 30/12/2020 20:00

No

I do hope we can get away in the UK but absolutely no way am I going abroad.

AuntieMarys · 30/12/2020 20:00

No

ThursdayLastWeek · 30/12/2020 20:01

Good lord no.

lunalucie · 30/12/2020 20:02

I've got one booked for next year but it's a transfer from this June. If it's cancelled I'll just move it again.

Ilikewinter · 30/12/2020 20:02

Not yet, got 2 weeks booked off in June that I so nearly booked flights to USA a couple of months ago as the flights prices were the cheapest ive ever known....however DH (the cautious or sensible one!) was unsure so I didnt book it. We are toying with the idea of Cornwall as not been there for years.

Mindymomo · 30/12/2020 20:03

We’ve just booked a weeks cottage for July. I think when holidays can start that they are going to be very expensive, so booked it for that reason and to have something to look forward to.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 30/12/2020 20:03

I’m planning on booking abroad for August in the next few weeks. I figure life should be pretty back to normal by then.

thenightsky · 30/12/2020 20:07

@DazedandConcerned

I’ve booked for Egypt in May, July and December. I expect them to go.
Oooh. I'm looking to book Egypt for May. I'm desperate to go diving!
tinytemper66 · 30/12/2020 20:08

Only one I have booked is the one from last summer which we moved to august. Not planning on booking anything else. Don't want dashed hopes!

ChocolateHelps · 30/12/2020 20:09

Lake District booked for August...surely we can have a UK holiday by then??!!!
