Wakeupin2022 · 30/12/2020 15:31

The whole of the Midlands is not in Tier 4! The Tier 2 counties have now been moved up to Tier 3.

crossstitchingnana · 30/12/2020 15:33

I'm on the Isle if Wight. In one week we've gone from Tier 1 to Tier 4. Fuck my life.

Sensitivefuneralchange · 30/12/2020 15:33

Tier 2 going into 2 here, it is very busy here all around seems to be visiting, queues for cafes and pubs etc. Not sure it will make much difference though.

Sensitivefuneralchange · 30/12/2020 15:34

into 3 I mean

IndecentFeminist · 30/12/2020 15:34

Agreed Nana. Cowes is pretty much the only parish above national average. I only know one person whose had it 🤷

crossstitchingnana · 30/12/2020 15:35

@girlcrushonvillanelle

They really need to put us in full lockdown.

I am in Cornwall which is currently in Tier 2, but the rates are going up and up! All this does is allows our numbers to continue to rocket, and then when people have died then they might actually do something!

I'm fuming!!

Actually you're going into Tier 3 tomorrow.
Sensitivefuneralchange · 30/12/2020 15:35

Oh great 12% left in 3, will still be pretty busy then. At least we have sales on I guess Hmm

hedgehogger1 · 30/12/2020 15:37

Details here www.gov.uk/guidance/full-list-of-local-restriction-tiers-by-area#history

WhoLettheCatOut · 30/12/2020 15:38

@ladypenelope68 I thought the same but I saw a post on mumsnet yesterday saying Yorkshire hospitals have capacity and are treating patients from elsewhere so I guess that's why we're still T3. That said I don't think it's sustainable and I assumed we would be T4 too! No doubt it is coming, it won't make any difference to me tbh as I don't go out much and it won't delay our return to the office come January.

crossstitchingnana · 30/12/2020 15:39

I can only assume our new cases have increased over 300% in a week and a third of ALL cases were recorded this month. We have an older population and one small hospital.
Wakeupin2022 · 30/12/2020 15:40

Sensitive hopefully people will take more notice of Tier 4 than Tier 3. Not convinced though.

Tier 3 practically surrounded by Tier 4 here.

nannynick · 30/12/2020 15:40

crossstitchingnana, Isle of Wight was in Tier 3 from 26th Dec.
<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20201223154118/www.gov.uk/guidance/full-list-of-local-restriction-tiers-by-area" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">web.archive.org/web/20201223154118/www.gov.uk/guidance/full-list-of-local-restriction-tiers-by-area
So was a jump from Tier 1 to 3 on 26th, now to Tier 4 on 31st. Rapid jump in Tier's none the less. Has travel between the island and main land increased perhaps?

Yeah, but in one week we've gone from 1-4
Phlip · 30/12/2020 15:41

York got their numbers right down and came out in Tier 2 after the last lockdown. Huge numbers of tier tourists and the rates have doubled in a week. Going to Tier 3 tonight.

I did think that, surprised you’ve moved up so dramatically
OhNoItsADalek · 30/12/2020 15:43

Do gyms close in tier 4?

Chickenfingers · 30/12/2020 15:44

@LadyPenelope68

I’m in Yorkshire which is Tier 3, our rates have been rising dramatically, yet, on checking the Government website just now, we are the only area that is currently in Tier 3 that hasn’t been moved to Tier 4! Makes no sense whatever.
Which part of Yorkshire are you though? I'm in West and our numbers have dropped loads, and I'm only seeing decreases.

I've never been so happy to be in tier 3, with items in repair in shops and my DP has been trying to take a driving test for 9 months.

lljkk · 30/12/2020 15:45

gyms & pools are closed in Tier 4.

I'm not surprised at all, I'm on a tier 3 area at the border of York and have seen loads of friends going for a pint. Very frustrating for York.
Lifeispassingby · 30/12/2020 15:45

@OhNoItsADalek in tier 4 everything is shut except essential shops

Bluebird2021 · 30/12/2020 15:45

We’ve been in tier 4 for weeks. Not much different to tier 3 or lockdown

HedgieHog · 30/12/2020 15:47

You can’t argue with it, people have been crossing tiers so they can go shopping or the pub, Christmas travel, it was inevitable
You only have to read the posts on here to see the volume of people admitting they won’t be following rules but “I’m very careful”
Maybe now they will follow the rules but I doubt it. We should have curfews like other countries

OhNoItsADalek · 30/12/2020 15:48

Oh dear. Better get used to jogging in the cold.

Busygoingblah · 30/12/2020 15:49

You know tier 4 has only existed for a week and a half right? It must be pretty terrible if that feels like ‘weeks’...
SueEllenMishke · 30/12/2020 15:49
@SueEllenMishke what area are you in? Are you looking at your local area or your county as a whole?
Both.
My local area has had very low cases throughout but we were dragged into additional restrictions in July because the wider area had high cases and we've never left.

Cases in our wider area have decreased dramatically to the extent we should have been moved to tier 2 a couple of weeks ago.
Looking at our numbers I just can't fathom that we're now in tier 4.

Essentially we've had 2 weeks out of lockdown all year.
