@Daisychainsandglitter

Been under some form of restriction since Sept. Going into tier 4 tomorrow after being in tier 3 since the last lockdown. I don't think there's that much difference between 3 and 4 tbh. I feel so sorry for all of the businesses who will be so badly affected by this though.
You can go shopping and get pissed in the park with 5 mates in Tier 3.

This is a significant difference.

PuddyMuddles4 · 30/12/2020 16:15

I'm in Suffolk and we went straight from Tier 2 to Tier 4.

TheCumbrian · 30/12/2020 16:16

@maskedpotato

We have gone from tier 2 to tier 4 with a rate of 99 because the other end of the county has rates of 400 -500. There are some unhappy people on Facebook.
Are you talking about Cumbria?

Because of the 'Lake District' and visitors they would probably struggle to have different tiers within the county so although it's really unfair on West Cumbria I can understand why they have done it.

“Hands up.
Who would like to work in a shop in T3 Rutland, surrounded by T4? Poor bastards.”

Those poor bastards as you put it are probably grateful to still be working and earning money. It’s not everyone’s aspiration to be sat at home you know!!

You assume that it will keep them in a job...
Thewinterofdiscontent · 30/12/2020 16:29

Hampshire went from 2 to 4 as well.

Didn’t matter as it was after Christmas so seasonal things like shopping, haircuts and nails were already done and pubs vaguely open even if you had to find a warm pub garden.

T4 is crap and people are still milling about in large groups, shopping for the sake of it and it’s still the bit in the middle where no one needs anything.
Every school will still have actually be open for keyworker/ vulnerable children with all teachers and staff in to make sure everyone’s teaching the others. Judging by the family groups out and about “closing” schools is pretty pointless.
T4 is crap.

Bmidreams · 30/12/2020 16:32

Random question: can carpet shops open in tier 4?

2021isgoingtobeasshitas2020 · 30/12/2020 16:45

In the Midlands. Does anyone know if clinically vulnerable have to shield in teir 4? I'm getting so bloody sick of shielding!

littlepattilou · 30/12/2020 16:47

Is anyone in tier 1 or 2 anymore?

littlepattilou · 30/12/2020 16:48

@Bmidreams

Random question: can carpet shops open in tier 4?
Doubt it. Will be classed as non-essential.
PimlicoJo · 30/12/2020 16:53

Well done Redbrickwall. You've hit the nail right on the head.

The reason Tier 4 has felt like a long time for many is because it was Xmas and celebrations had to be cancelled. I'm in london and don't know anyone who thinks the Tier will change anytime soon.

RedToothBrush · 30/12/2020 16:56

@littlepattilou

Is anyone in tier 1 or 2 anymore?
Yep. The 2000 odd people on the Isles of Scilly.
Benjispruce2 · 30/12/2020 16:58

Well I’ve joined Club Tier 4 so not much else to do but run! Rest today but did 5k walk with dog. Actually lookout forward to tomorrow’s run!

Benjispruce2 · 30/12/2020 16:59

Oops wrong thread!

littlepattilou · 30/12/2020 17:12

@RedToothBrush WOW, is that it? So pretty much everyone in the country is basically in lockdown now? Why did they not just call it that? Eeeejits!

IndecentFeminist · 30/12/2020 17:16

We went from T1 to T4 in 10 days 😂😬🤦‍♀️

TitOfTheIceberg · 30/12/2020 17:30

@nannynick

Been in Tier 4 a little while now and the roads are not as quiet as they were back in March, why?
Also official shielding was a thing during the first lockdown, with financial support for employers to pay their clinically extremely vulnerable employees (and in some cases household members of CEV people) to stay at home. Now there is no official shielding so CEV people have to make their own risk assessments weighing up their medical concerns against their economic situation, so a lot more working in jobs that can't be done from home will be commuting.

(Just a little reminder that a lot of CEV people are part of the workforce and are not all 90 year olds at death's door as seems to be an all too common perception.)

lockdownromance · 30/12/2020 17:45

Tier3 in Liverpool.

Vitaminsss · 30/12/2020 17:47

Same.

Barely made it 28 days out of lockdown 💔 can this year get any more depressing?? In fact, I take that back as it probably will🤦🏼‍♀️

allmycats · 30/12/2020 17:53

Staying in tier 3 here in South Yorkshire, our rates have been coming down over the last few weeks, and I understand we are taking other regions into our hospitals as we do have some capacity.

Timbucktime · 30/12/2020 17:56
@girlcrushonvillanelle
Tier 4 is pretty much lockdown. How do you propose people survive if they can’t work from home and can’t claim furlough etc?
Full lock down is pretty much middle classes staying at home whilst poor people bring them stuff
I couldn’t agree more

Pastanred · 30/12/2020 17:58

OP i'm same - lancashire and been in toughest tier since august too

but they've shot themselves in the foot now as it's not working - not worked or last 6 months - so noone cares.

Im meeting friends for new year no matter what.

Destinysdaughter · 30/12/2020 18:12

My area was only 159 a few days ago, really don't understand why it's now in Tier 4.

Vitaminsss · 30/12/2020 18:25

@Destinysdaughter I think it’s the rate of growth that’s the problem, not the total cares

Vitaminsss · 30/12/2020 18:25
