Have they said when they might review it?

maskedpotato · 30/12/2020 15:52

We have gone from tier 2 to tier 4 with a rate of 99 because the other end of the county has rates of 400 -500. There are some unhappy people on Facebook.

nannynick · 30/12/2020 15:52

Been in Tier 4 a little while now and the roads are not as quiet as they were back in March, why?

It's more than the rates. It depends on the hospitals too. Public Health Directors are part of the decision making.

Allispretty · 30/12/2020 15:55

@OhNoItsADalek

Do gyms close in tier 4?
Yup...I work for major chain that's us screwed yet again! Can't see my job surviving this one 😞

Back in March, a lot of people were furloughed who could have worked. Construction, for instance, furloughed huge numbers because there were supply chain issues, and work places had to be made Covid secure. Those people have been able to carry on working in Tier 4.
Indecisive12 · 30/12/2020 15:59

Tier 4 here not that we’re doing anything anyway so won’t affect us unless the schools announcement says different. My area rates are below many other tier 3 areas but the surrounding areas are all higher so I understand it.

november90 · 30/12/2020 15:59

@Frenchdressing I'm a really optimistic person but just think once you're in tier 4 you're in There for the duration!
Lancaster restrictions have never got better despite local lockdowns and tiers etc etc!

Did he say how long this would be for?

Newgirls · 30/12/2020 16:00

We are in tier 4 and roads are much quieter than usual. Busy round shops and lots of vans around but definitely quieter.

Username198 · 30/12/2020 16:01

@Frenchdressing The reviews never bring good news. We’ve been under restrictions since July and that was going to be reviewed every 2 weeks.

UntamedWisteria · 30/12/2020 16:02

So many people think they can excuse themselves from the rules.

Was called by a neighbour yesterday inviting us for a socially-distanced dinner at their house for NYE, as we're local so the risk of being caught is low.

Reality is she's bought too much fancy food to eat by themselves ...

invitation was politely declined.

Tier 4 is pretty much lockdown. How do you propose people survive if they can’t work from home and can’t claim furlough etc?
Full lock down is pretty much middle classes staying at home whilst poor people bring them stuff[/quote]
This.

funtimefrank · 30/12/2020 16:04

I'm in South Glos so we went into tier 3 alongside Bristol and North Somerset who were then moved down into tier 2 when we weren't.

They've now been moved back to tier 3 and we've stayed the same but all around us are now tier 4. I am surprised tbh.

I had an outpatient appointment at one of the big Bristol hospitals yesterday and was chatting to the dr doing my test and she said they'd been moved down a tier (hospital tiers) and had a tiny tiny bit of breathing space. I guess that's why maybe.

Ilovenewyear · 30/12/2020 16:06

Is it a sausage?

Thanks @coldwaterfeed I needed that laugh.

Brilliant 👏👏

whereismormonjesus · 30/12/2020 16:07

@stackemhigh

Are you joking?

maskedpotato · 30/12/2020 16:07

"It's more than the rates. It depends on the hospitals too. Public Health Directors are part of the decision making."

Hospital currently is fine but I suppose we may get cases from elsewhere in the county because there is no major hospital in the part of the county worst affected. I think people are annoyed because historically most people in the south of the county have little to do with the north and in November when we went to tier 2, the rest of the county stayed at tier 1.

Frenchdressing · 30/12/2020 16:08

Yep. Greater Manchester here so been stuck in restrictions for months. I just like to feel there is some kind of review built in. Makes it easier to cope with for me.

RaffertyBear · 30/12/2020 16:10

Royal London and Whipps Hospital are both pretty fucked, above capacity and Whipps has already done several days of ambulance diversions.

Think Royal London was running at 116% today with one/two floors of extra intensive care beds being open.

They really need to open the Nightingale in East London.

Daisychainsandglitter · 30/12/2020 16:12

Been under some form of restriction since Sept. Going into tier 4 tomorrow after being in tier 3 since the last lockdown. I don't think there's that much difference between 3 and 4 tbh. I feel so sorry for all of the businesses who will be so badly affected by this though.

RedToothBrush · 30/12/2020 16:13

Hands up.

Who would like to work in a shop in T3 Rutland, surrounded by T4? Poor bastards.

christmasathomeagain · 30/12/2020 16:13

Is it really going to make much difference? So we were allowed to meet outside in groups of 6 but now can only meet one other person? I didn't meet in groups of 6 anyway.

Hopefully it will stop some plans but I really suspect not.

Benjispruce2 · 30/12/2020 16:13

Not surprised. Needed. But with this clamp down and the vaccine there is light at the end of the tunnel.
