Kate and William

This is not a Kate and William bashing post. I actually really like them, despite everything, they actually seem pretty normal and look like a lovely family. But they are in the press on a Christmas walk (Sandringham estate, but a public event) with Prince Edward and Sophie's family. With the kids it makes 9. I thought their official residence was Kensington so they are from a Tier 4 area! Also children in England DO count towards the total of 6 (it's only under 1s who don't). It's not just them, it's all the celebs in Dubai or the Maldives as well. It's not right that my kids can't see their cousins for a Christmas outing. Tier 2 Christmas events have banned families from Tiers 3 and 4 visiting. No wonder we see less cooperation as time goes on, a year in a child's life is a LONG time to be cut off from loved ones.

@Thewithesarehere

Problem is we have so many apologists for crappy behaviour that they are highly likely to keep getting away with this.

Absolutely. And as I said, before all this I really didn't see them in a bad light. They are the same age as me, their kids are the same age as mine so there was something relatable (ha ha). It was very well documented in the media about how high London Covid cases were at the time they were still there but they were never going to stick it out. My kids haven't had one Christmas outing this year let alone two.

An aside:
I knew Prince George reminded me of someone. It's the late Gerald Grosvenor.

InsertRudeWord · 24/12/2020 01:13

If you are in the public eye you have a responsibility to follow the rules.

I am impressed by Dr Alex George - he is doing so much for mental health in schools and has been working in A&E all through the pandemic, but now can't go home to his parents even though his brother took his life recently.

Conversely someone like Melissa Tatum from MIC repeatedly flaunting lockdown rules and staying away from home.

It really gets my goat, when these vacuous people are making money by influencing young people, that they should be so irresponsible.

jessstan1 · 24/12/2020 01:39

I think it is a damn cheek that they have been photographed, it's not as if they are camera shy; we do see a lot of them so why not leave them alone whilst they are having their Christmas break?

They have undoubtedly been tested and are covid-free so what is the problem? Plenty of people are getting together with family at Christmas in bigger parties than that with less space. They've probably formed a 'bubble' with the Wessex family.

grassisjeweled · 24/12/2020 01:45

Demonstrates that they don't give a shit about the rules? But they're exempt.

If it was load of working class people partying in a rough pub, it'd be a different story, wouldn't it.

grassisjeweled · 24/12/2020 01:48

Let's hope that their recent behaviour wakes people up.

They don't give a shit about their 'subjects'. Education? Healthcare? Infrastructure? Jobs?

I'm all right, Jack.

happystone · 24/12/2020 02:02

They have all had the vaccine they don’t care

eaglejulesk · 24/12/2020 02:06

And yet there have been threads on MN all year with people breaking the rules in a major way and being utterly selfish about their wants and posters have been telling them to "go for it". Get over yourselves.

They weren't partying, they weren't indoors and there weren't loads of them. Walking outdoors with your household is allowed. Of course there will be other people around in a public place! Sometimes you may even know the other people.

ImFree2doasiwant · 24/12/2020 08:59

9 people in a woodland area. Can't get excited about it. The same woodland area that had hundreds walking through it shortly after the royals left.

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 24/12/2020 09:03

Not sure why uts all about the Cambridges, it's the others who travelled from a Tier 4 area.

Exactly this. If you are a member of the Royal Family, appearances are everything.

They aren't allowed to form a bubble. These lot are not above the law, may I remind you that Kate herself was a commoner until recently. It really beggars belief that they would have the arrogance to swan about like this. Would be interesting if someone reported them, wouldn't it? They'd have a lot of explaining to do.
