Kate and William

This is not a Kate and William bashing post. I actually really like them, despite everything, they actually seem pretty normal and look like a lovely family. But they are in the press on a Christmas walk (Sandringham estate, but a public event) with Prince Edward and Sophie's family. With the kids it makes 9. I thought their official residence was Kensington so they are from a Tier 4 area! Also children in England DO count towards the total of 6 (it's only under 1s who don't). It's not just them, it's all the celebs in Dubai or the Maldives as well. It's not right that my kids can't see their cousins for a Christmas outing. Tier 2 Christmas events have banned families from Tiers 3 and 4 visiting. No wonder we see less cooperation as time goes on, a year in a child's life is a LONG time to be cut off from loved ones.

@Holyrivolli

Covid has turned people bonkers. Why would anyone give a shit if two families stop for a brief chat outside? K and W’s kids are all very young. In Scotland they wouldn’t even be counted in the numbers. Are English children more infectious then Scottish children? The number of petty hysterical people on this site who are obsessed with the ever changing rules is incredible.
My kids are their age too. How about I take them wherever I like?

@2020inhouse

Tone deaf and we are all paying for them
Pretty much

@onedayinthefuture

Would you honestly deprive your children of a day out if you were in an area where you could go and do things? Just because there are other kids who can't at the minute? Why should George/Charlotte/Louis suffer? Yes Kate and William are royals, but they have made it very clear that they are parents first. They want their kids to have as normal upbringing as possible, same as the rest of us.

If they do anything that some people in the country can't then they are accused of being unsympathetic. People are struggling to put food in the cupboards. Should William, Kate and the family begin a diet solely consisting of bread and gruel in sympathy? The fact is, there will always be people out there who can do something/have something that some other people can't.

Kate and William went for an evening walk with their three kids. While they were there, at this public, ticketed event, they bumped into Uncle Eddie and stopped for a quick socially distanced chat. That is normal. It makes them human. Not many people from the same family would have completely blanked each other in that situation. It's not like they were hugging. If they had just ignored Edward, then the papers would have been full of stories of a fall out in the royal family.

@Mamamia456

Read the posts properly instead of jumping to the wrong conclusions. They were given consecutive slots by the organisers which is a sensible thing to do, before the public entered. Photos can be deceiving depending on the angle they were taken.
And of course no-one could have foreseen this might happen with consecutive slots.

I'm also a bit intrigued about who the amateur pap was if the event wasn't yet open to the public.

Holyrivolli · 22/12/2020 14:43

@Thewithesarehere. Yep. Why don’t you stop and have a quick chat with a family you know in the park. None of you will get struck down by lightening. You might get tutted at by the self appointed covid police but the chances of passing covid to each other is tiny (even if any of you had it).

People are either applying their hatred of the royal family or their covid hysteria to this situation which is only two families having a brief socially distanced chat in a park. Hardly a cardinal sin.

DDiva · 22/12/2020 14:45

Just shows how difficult it is to meet up with others when you have children.

MitziK · 22/12/2020 14:46

@onedayinthefuture

In the year 2018-19 the Royal Family cost the British tax payer 67 million. They are giving their young children a nice little Christmas outing but thousands of children are missing out this year.
A pound each? Oh, well.
DfEisashambles · 22/12/2020 14:46

I was really shocked that they would do this after going on a tour to thank NHS for all their hard work, even if before tier 4 it’s blatantly disregarding rule of 6!

Yep
Lookingforwardto2021 · 22/12/2020 15:41

And in Timbuktu children can freely mix with others. Are English children more infectious than children in Timbuktu? 🙄

Honestly, just follow the rules where you are. If they wanted to follow Scottish rules then they should have gone there. Oh wait, they did. And flouted the rules there too!

Why do people try to justify such idiotic behaviour? These guys should be leading my example, that’s why they are the monarchy and get our money. Staying at home when you have a huge comfortable house is hardly a hardship, is it?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 22/12/2020 18:11

Oh ffs!
My DD & I bumped into my friends & their kids on Sunday in the city centre (Tier 3 area) there were 7 of us altogether. Getting last min bits for Xmas plus some essentials from Boots.
We stopped & had a quick socially/physically distanced chat.
But shock horror later on we were both at the bus station at the same time to get the same bus home. That was not planned.
I bet if you took photos of us all & depending on the angles it would look like we all gone out on a jolly together.
We hadn't.

Thewithesarehere · 22/12/2020 18:22

Problem is we have so many apologists for crappy behaviour that they are highly likely to keep getting away with this.

Fieldofyellowflowers · 22/12/2020 18:25

@Thewithesarehere

Getting away with what? Unintentionally running into a family at a public event? It could happen to any of us.

ImFree2doasiwant · 22/12/2020 18:25

They went before the event opened to the public, had they gone half an hour later there would have been hundreds of strangers there.

Oh FFS! Who in their right mind can think that they unintentionally ran into family? What are those millions for that we keep paying for their security? So they keep bumping into people unintentionally? Are you real?

Covidrelapse · 22/12/2020 19:00

It’s the buggering off to the country homes that bugs me. They did at the start of the 1st lockdown, this doesn’t surprise me, I don’t think it was accidental as security will surely speak to each other? But it may have been safer for them to do it together. Who knows. I’m just jealous I don’t have a country estate to run off to.

Snog · 22/12/2020 19:11

BIL is BF with a child of a huge rockstar. They will be leaving Tier 4 London for the countryside at Xmas, the law doesn't apply to the rich.

Lookingforwardto2021 · 22/12/2020 19:19

Why didn’t they stay in london to show support to Londoners? Or is their support only attending jollies?

At least Princess Di did things like working on banning land mines and hugging kids with HIV etc. when it was taboo. Really using her position to bring about awareness and change.

These two take their kids to Christmas pantos and run off to their second homes the minute things get tough, and their apologists swoon, crying how wonderful they are. No wonder they think the plebs are thick 😃

Lookingforwardto2021 · 22/12/2020 19:21

Snog, is your BIL’s friend funded by the taxpayer?

Kate and wills can give up their titles and then do whatever they want, just like other rich people.

Roussette · 22/12/2020 19:32

I don't care IF they bumped into all the family doing this jaunt, but let's not pretend it was coincidence. It really really wasn't.

Who honestly thinks Prince Edward just happened to be there at the same time with his lot?

Fieldofyellowflowers · 22/12/2020 19:32

@Thewithesarehere

It has happened to me more than once. Anyone on the outside looking in would probably think that both times were planned beforehand but they weren't. And I am very much real. I wouldn't be typing this if I wasn't. Grin

Lookingforwardto2021 · 22/12/2020 19:38

Yes Field, but you are not royalty are you? Their movements are planned and their security would know who is going to be in the vicinity. Otherwise they would be fired.

Your seeing a neighbour at a bus stop outside Asda is not really a comparison 🙄

Snog · 22/12/2020 20:03

@Lookingforwardto2021 I don't personally agree that being rich should make you above the law, whatever your source of income.

As for royalty, their time is over.

Lookingforwardto2021 · 22/12/2020 20:08

@snog, I agree 😊

farfallarocks · 22/12/2020 22:46

Their behaviour during this pandemic has Sealed their fate. The whole lot of them running away to their estates in March and now this. It’s like the Tudors or something! Such a massive misstep. They are an anachronism and I can’t see the monarchy lasting.
