Kate and William

This is not a Kate and William bashing post. I actually really like them, despite everything, they actually seem pretty normal and look like a lovely family. But they are in the press on a Christmas walk (Sandringham estate, but a public event) with Prince Edward and Sophie's family. With the kids it makes 9. I thought their official residence was Kensington so they are from a Tier 4 area! Also children in England DO count towards the total of 6 (it's only under 1s who don't). It's not just them, it's all the celebs in Dubai or the Maldives as well. It's not right that my kids can't see their cousins for a Christmas outing. Tier 2 Christmas events have banned families from Tiers 3 and 4 visiting. No wonder we see less cooperation as time goes on, a year in a child's life is a LONG time to be cut off from loved ones.

Over here in Australia the quarantine is very strict. When you land, the army take you by bus to a hotel (you have no choice where you go, even though you have to pay), and you stay there for 14 days, often with no fresh air at all.
Except if you’re Nicole Kidman and family, Danni Minogue, Mark Wahlberg and others, who get to quarantine at their own houses instead.
Or some sports teams who got to quarantine as a group in a nice hotel where they could use the pool.
Meanwhile I haven’t seen my parents in a year because even if I could go back, I can’t get back into the country, and even then if I could pay for business or first class tickets to jump the queue, I can hardly quarantine for 2 weeks with two children.
It’s crap, but this virus has highlighted the divides between rich and poor, and rich and REALLY rich very clearly.

TammyHullfigure · 22/12/2020 12:23

@ChloeDeckTheHalls

It’s not just on William and Kate though-surely this is also on Edward and Sophie?
Because it's the third or fourth breach of the rules by this pair (that we know of). Kate has always prioritised her fashion parades ahead of other obligations and William doesn't seem to have a brain.
SleepingStandingUp · 22/12/2020 12:35

@Mamamia456

Sleepingstandingup - You sound really nice, and how did Kate trap him exactly?
Sorry, did the sarcasm not show through?
SleepingStandingUp · 22/12/2020 12:38

@Honeyroar

It is completely thoughtless and insensitive to post pictures of them at pantos and walking with big groups of relatives when the rest of us are having to make difficult choices. They should be able to work that out.
The panto want just for the five of them though was it?

And these photos were sold to a paper by someone who took them on their phone

TodgerStrunk · 22/12/2020 12:39

Perhaps their security preferred them to walk around together?

This ^. I really hope that the monarchy ends with the current queen. We have enough BJ and others. Why should we have to bear this lot too? I am quite sick of trying to keep my children happy and it make me so upset to see them out with their kids. Insensitive arseholes.
kittensarecute · 22/12/2020 12:42

Gosh how DARE they, you know, do what normal human beings do and actually interact with people rather than lepers. Good for them, I say. My family and I will all be going for a dog walk on Xmas Day and we WILL NOT BE SOCIAL DISTANCING FROM EACH OTHER. I refuse to treat my loved ones like lepers.

I hope you were being sarcastic because it is otherwise quite daft a thing to say.

Yeah you might as well be living in a jungle if you don’t wanna follow the rules that are set out to save YOUR and your family’s lives and health, not to mention the vulnerable people in every community.
onedayinthefuture · 22/12/2020 12:45

In the year 2018-19 the Royal Family cost the British tax payer 67 million. They are giving their young children a nice little Christmas outing but thousands of children are missing out this year.

@Covidrelapse

Agree, it’s incredibly insensitive and shows how out of touch with the real world they are. I used to quite like the royals but their behaviour during this pandemic makes me think let’s just get rid of them. They’re All for show but aren’t behaving in a responsible way so what message does that send?
Given that the general line on MN is that people are rampantly ignoring the rules, maybe this shows how in touch they are?
SillyOldMummy · 22/12/2020 13:05

I was hugely disappointed. The photos didn't just show them "stop for a socially distanced chat" - they were all walking along together. I don't personally believe it was just chance they turned up at the same time.

They should have waved and said hi, then walked apart from each other.

They did the wrong thing, set the wrong example, and it sticks in my craw when much of the rest of the country is desperately trying to hold on and terribly disappointed. I'm deeply unimpressed by them.

Ooh aren't they naughty being with their family in a NORMAL HUMAN WAY. tut tut.
Roussette · 22/12/2020 13:17

It's pathetic.

Can you even begin to imagine the vitriol and hate his brother and wife would receive if they even tried anything remotely like this?

But because it's W&K nothing much happens

TeenageMutantNinjaCovid · 22/12/2020 13:39

William went to Norfolk with covid in March- that is why the press were not told at the time- Charles was slated for doing the same.

Newgirls · 22/12/2020 13:42

I like them

But they’ve messed up on this

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 22/12/2020 14:00

Tracey and Dave would have pulled their kids out of school early, Kate and Will didn't.
Tracey and Dave are more likely to also be popping into the local town and shops that Kate and Will who have a big garden to walk around in. And people clearly have continued to holiday in the UK where they are able.
And as long as they keep their distance from Uncle Dave and his kids, it's no different to anyone else being there

This

Mamamia456 · 22/12/2020 14:01

Read the posts properly instead of jumping to the wrong conclusions. They were given consecutive slots by the organisers which is a sensible thing to do, before the public entered. Photos can be deceiving depending on the angle they were taken.

RainMoon · 22/12/2020 14:04

Earlier in the year doing all their visits to the NHS, no masks and not fucking 2m and indoors, then pantos etc and allowed to me between houses and then everyone else is slammed for going to their second home,

EnPoinsettia · 22/12/2020 14:08

Bad form.

oneglassandpuzzled · 22/12/2020 14:09

@Fieldofyellowflowers

OK read the article and it's made more sense than OP's paraphrasing. It was a public attraction. Both William and Kate and Edward and his family attended separately. They passed each other and stopped for a socially distanced chat. Christ knows that there has been plenty of times when I have been out and about, seen some people I know and stopped for a chin wag. The other alternative was blanking them and walking past like I didn't know them.
This was my understanding, too. They didn't arrive together: they met and, as family tend to do, talked briefly to one another.
blisstwins · 22/12/2020 14:13

Didn't they already have corona? I am American and in no position to be critical of other countries' politics, but I will NEVER understand the English and their royals. OK, the Queen maybe....but Charles and Camilla and the next gen? Will it ever end?

William has had it, not sure about kate and the rest.
Holyrivolli · 22/12/2020 14:15

Covid has turned people bonkers. Why would anyone give a shit if two families stop for a brief chat outside? K and W’s kids are all very young. In Scotland they wouldn’t even be counted in the numbers. Are English children more infectious then Scottish children? The number of petty hysterical people on this site who are obsessed with the ever changing rules is incredible.

The number of petty hysterical people who defend a bunch of lazy gits is also beyond me. There is a reason majority of the fast-developing countries have no monarchy. Did you ever think of it? Also, this lot is supposed to be the ones we are supposed to look up to! How can you expect others to follow any sort of rules if this lot keeps breaking them?
