As per the title. Having a heated discussion at the moment. Is this the law or just advisory?
Thank you.

What difference does that make?

Annoying as it is we need to get the virus under control as a country.

Minaun · 19/12/2020 17:21

What difference does that make?

The answer is actually very important for my family. But thanks anyway.

I’m trying to work out exactly the same. Are being asked to be sensible or told it’s against the law?

Sockwomble · 19/12/2020 17:26

I think it would be the same as in first lockdown. The law was you should only be out with a reasonable excuse.

blackbearder · 19/12/2020 17:27

Anyone know what exercise is allowed please - ie for how long are you allowed outside.

southeastdweller · 19/12/2020 17:27

No it’s just guidance. Can they enforce guidance? No? Can they enforce it if it was a rule? No.

MarshaBradyo · 19/12/2020 17:28

Yes

People are ordered to stay at home and this instruction is being enshrined in law.

Tier 4 will not be part of the Christmas bubble policy.Household mixing indoors is strictly prohibited and only one person can meet up with one other outdoors.

Fooshufflewickjingleybells · 19/12/2020 17:28

It is law according to the independent

DailyPotion · 19/12/2020 17:28

I don't even know what it means. How can it be stay at home and meet one other person outdoors?

OverTheRainbow88 · 19/12/2020 17:29

ummm at one point Bojo defo said by law... but I can’t remember what aspect he was talking about... sorry not too helpful

Elephant4 · 19/12/2020 17:29

It hasn't been voted on in parliament. It isn't therefore law.

Outdoor exercise is unlimited.
ilovesooty · 19/12/2020 17:32

@Elephant4

It hasn't been voted on in parliament. It isn't therefore law.
There are provisions that are available to pass it to law without Parliament actually sitting. In any case the Labour party will support it.
southeastdweller · 19/12/2020 17:36

So it seems that it will be a law, then. But it makes fuck all difference anyway as it’s unenforceable.

HopeAndDriftWood · 19/12/2020 17:37

It will be law, it’s a stay at home order under the coronavirus legislation.

unicornparty · 19/12/2020 17:40

It will be law .

CrochetOrBust · 19/12/2020 17:41

So if someone goes into Tier 4 to visit / stay in their support bubble (which sounds like it will be allowed), will they then be subject to the stay at home order and unable to return home to a lower tier?

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 19/12/2020 17:43

I imagine it will be law. But not by midnight tonight. IIRC - the restrictions they brought in for Eid (which we were told were from midnight) only actually became law the following Wednesday.

Remmy123 · 19/12/2020 17:45

The law?? What happens we get arrested 🤣🤣

HelloDaisy · 19/12/2020 17:46

Can my dd drive to visit her boyfriend about 30 minutes away to go for a walk? We are in tier 4 and I can’t find the answer anywhere!

Lurkingforawhile · 19/12/2020 17:46

I'm not sure when they're going to have time to make it law, but it seems unlikely in the next 12 hours. Someone on another thread pointed out that the Eid timed changes weren't law until a few days later.

Lurkingforawhile · 19/12/2020 17:47

Sorry @HainaultViaNewburyPark - missed that you'd already said that!

Lurkingforawhile · 19/12/2020 17:48

Outside exercise was always unlimited in previous lockdowns. Some idiot ministers made suggestions that were never law or in guidance and the media then repeated it. Made me so Angry

MarshaBradyo · 19/12/2020 17:50

Some won’t care about it being law. But majority will
