So where I live could be going into tier 4. Not good 😌

Floralapron · 19/12/2020 14:47

Does anyone know if it includes Oxfordshire as we are in south east technically but in a tier 2?

shamus2020 · 19/12/2020 14:52

I'm not sure but it said london and the south east. I can't stand this all now I'm so fed up.

Is tier 4 "no one may leave the area"? Lockdown+?

3 is already don’t leave the area
ChablisandCrisps · 19/12/2020 14:54

@picsInRed I think it might be exactly that. No travel for anyone in London, the south east, beds, bucks, herts etc.

insancerre · 19/12/2020 14:54

What’s tier 4?

ChelseaCat · 19/12/2020 14:55

They can fuck right off with their fucking tier four 😢😡

HopeAndDriftWood · 19/12/2020 14:56

A “by law” stay at home order, no household mixing, no travelling out of the area, allegedly. But nothing is guaranteed until 4pm.

noelgiraffe · 19/12/2020 14:56

This from the Sunday Times on twitter.

The govt really need to work on their comms.

Arboria · 19/12/2020 14:56

Tier 4 is no household mixing over Christmas. No travel. Stay in your house.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 19/12/2020 14:57

Sky news just said tier 4 would include no Christmas relaxation?

I don’t think I can cope if they do that. I’m so close to giving up, I can’t do it.

thebeachismyhappyplace2 · 19/12/2020 14:59

I wonder whether that will mean Christmas is cancelled for those in London and the south east. Which would mean we will basically have to cancel plans of seeing relatives during those 4 days over Xmas.

Christmas is 25th December; you can’t cancel a date.

Household mixing is a really daft idea right now, anywhere.

etopp · 19/12/2020 15:04

I do sympathise with those who are upset about the possibility of not being able to have a proper Christmas or see people.

Spare a thought, though, for those whose families had their Christmases wiped out by lockdown in March, due to them losing their jobs and their homes. It makes no difference to them whether they are in Tier 1 or Tier 4, as they don't have much to live for whichever way they look at it.

It's shit all round.

PicsInRed · 19/12/2020 15:07

I don't mean "no travel without a good reason", I mean no travel at all? Closed roads with police officers turning people back? Wales level closed.

Oysterbabe · 19/12/2020 15:09

My brother in law and his family have packed up the car and fled to Bristol this afternoon because that's where they want to be for Christmas Hmm

thebeachismyhappyplace2 · 19/12/2020 15:09

Arborists - I think it’s pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain what I meant. Obviously a date can’t be cancelled but a lot of people have gone to lots of efforts to see loved ones this Xmas. But if it means people’s lives are at risk because this new strain is spreading fast then obviously Xmas should be cancelled. It’s just a real shame for those who were really looking forward to seeing loved ones. It’s a rubbish situation all round!

Danglingmod · 19/12/2020 15:10

Come on, if you live in one of the areas expected to go into "tier 4" you really shouldn't have been planning to mix at Christmas anyway. (I'm in an area outside London but as bad as London and will practise what I preach.)

I actually didn't see this one coming!

JacobReesMogadishu · 19/12/2020 15:20

It’s advised not to but can’t be enforced. Maybe in tier 4 this will be enforceable!?

I'm very sorry if you are describing your situation Flowers but if this was me, I'd be grasping on to the chance of seeing friends or family for a few days as a little bit of light in a very long dark tunnel. .
