I think so.......would be good to know for sure though. My area has very very low rates and people are cross we are Tier 2. Can't see us getting downgraded to Tier 1 though given the general state of things.

Talisin · 15/12/2020 20:22

I believe they review tomorrow, announce on Thursday and any changes then come into effect on Saturday.

CoronaIsWatching · 15/12/2020 20:23

Parts of West Yorkshire need to go in tier 2, they've done the same with Essex splitting it up into tier 2 and 3

Same, possibly same area 😉, not getting my hopes up though as there are several excuses not to put us into tier 1, one being a neighbouring county possibly going into tier 3.

It's hard to see any area going down a tier.
Hospitalisations are going up pretty much everywhere.

Yesterday in West Yorkshire they was optimistic for tier 2. But our local council released a statement today saying we are staying in T3.

I can not see any tiers being down graded with the Christmas warnings from the scientists, read today the Christmas relaxation of rules could see hospital occupancy as bad as April levels.

I can see wales having the Christmas rules reversed in the next couple of days, they have basically run out of hospital beds and NHS england has written to them to offer help for none covid patients. Northern Ireland is also struggling.

Tends to be a pattern, the devolved nations do hard short lock downs, followed by long periods of normality, and then shit hits the fan...

England, fannys about with mockdowns every now and then. And the shit is never too far away from the fan. It has been 13 days since England lockdown ended and London and surrounding counties are already overwhelmed

PrincessNutNuts · 15/12/2020 20:38

If your area gets downgraded people from nearby higher tiers just bring the Covid to you via pubs and shops and visiting.

" Portsmouth, Gosport & Southampton Isle of Wight Ferry Syndrome"

It's better for reducing spread of we're all under the same rules.

PrincessNutNuts · 15/12/2020 20:38

Although honestly, I can't see any area going down a tier.

Me neither. Especially with the Christmas debate going on. I think almost everywhere will stay put or go up a tier.
CoffeeCreamandSugar · 15/12/2020 20:58

I thought it was being announced tomorrow too :(

ouchmyfeet · 15/12/2020 20:59

Hoping GM will go down to tier 2, my borough has lower rates than the English average. I doubt it will happen though Xmas Hmm

Rollergirl11 · 15/12/2020 21:01

Do you think there will be other areas moving from Tier 2 to 3 or would that have been done yesterday along with London and Essex?

RedRiverShore · 15/12/2020 21:11

I think we may go up to 3 in Northamptonshire, our adjoining county Bedfordshire probably as well and MK, I think London and the other places probably had to go into tier 3 more urgently than other places that may go up. Probably more likely to go up a tier with the Christmas debacle than down or stay put if already in 3

balzamico · 15/12/2020 21:17

I'm in an area that could well have been considered for dropping from t3 to t2 but our mayor (Dan Jarvis) has said he thinks we'll stay t3 and unfortunately I agree with him. I think a few area might go up but nowhere will go down and rightly so given the Christmas effect.
Bang does my socially distanced Panto and trip to Chatsworth 😢

Hippywannabe · 15/12/2020 21:18

Anyone else wonder if there will be an overnight announcement that Xmas plans will be changing?

Sussex looking likely?

Not overnight, no, but they have said they are continuing talks tomorrow so there may be an announcement at some point tomorrow evening
PotteringAlong · 15/12/2020 21:28

Our cases in Gateshead are now well below the national average. I really really hope we’re down to tier 2. Surely we cannot be below average and still be tier 3?

JayAlfredPrufrock · 15/12/2020 21:31

It’s a pisser. I was hopeful that we would go down to T2 as we’ve been in 3 since for fucking ever. By now London has been upgraded we’ve got Bob Hope.

Talisin · 15/12/2020 21:32

@CoffeeCreamandSugar

Given this government leaks like a sieve, the chances are high we’ll know tomorrow anyway.
DreamingofaShiteChristmas · 15/12/2020 21:32

Sussex looking likely?

East, maybe, but I can’t see any justification yet for putting West Sussex in tier 3. Rolling rate today is 95, well below national average. Though admittedly it’s suddenly shot up the last few days.

Pipandmum · 15/12/2020 21:33

I thought they already had and announced it yesterday.

RubixCubix · 15/12/2020 21:36

Sussex is a possibility due to cases rocketing in Hastings recently Dadnotamum72

Nat6999 · 15/12/2020 21:38

Balzamico I'm in Sheffield & our rate is dropping, but Rotherham is increasing so like you I think we are staying in tier 3, ironically the postcode I live in has nearly all areas with zero new cases all this week so we must be doing something right.
