And if so when will we know any changes?

OP posts:

Boris doesn’t have the balls to drop Yorkshire or Manchester into T2 while him and his cronies have to endure T3 in London
The rate here is lower than London’s was when it was in T2 but I bet he won’t dare move us down while moving London up

I'm finding myself getting anxious waiting, I was really hoping to do something for my dd birthday next week as she still hasn't had last years present (concert tickets that keep being postponed) obviously had no idea last year that this would happen or would have bought something else - and yes I realise it's a ridiculous thing to be worrying about given everyone's circumstances but there it is.

Hoppinggreen · 16/12/2020 13:16

anothernamereally same here
DD is 16 next week and I was hoping to be able to do something nice to make up for her 4 cancelled concerts this year, only one of which we have had confirmation of for next year

RedRiverShore · 16/12/2020 14:37

According to our local paper they will find out late tonight or early tomorrow what tier so it might be in the local online papers tomorrow morning

CoffeeCreamandSugar · 16/12/2020 16:24

I want to know mostly because it’s my sons birthday this weekend. I don’t want to book anything and then have to cancel!

BBC says Northampton’s rate is 222 per 100,000 currently

Ifailed · 16/12/2020 16:33

Pretty well everywhere in England will go to tier 3 as a price to pay for the stupid xmas tier 0.

nancybotwinbloom · 16/12/2020 16:50

What time is the update does anyone know?

My daughter's coming up too. I haven't planned anything. Just going to do things at home I think, maybe a cafe or something as well. Can't do much about it!
nancybotwinbloom · 16/12/2020 16:51

Sorry everyone I am a day ahead I thought today was Thursday and it's not.

RedRiverShore · 16/12/2020 17:17

Just looked and Northampton is similar to Bedford, Peterborough is higher at 279 and MK is just over 300. some parts of Northants are not too bad, Kettering and Corby are about 100. DH has some running events booked in MK but if that is tier 3 he won't be able to go anyway.

I imagine they will use the figures there now.

poshme · 17/12/2020 08:12

They don't just use cases per 100,000
They also look at hospital numbers, and cases in over 65s, along with a few other things that I can't remember.

southeastdweller · 17/12/2020 08:33

The announcement is at 11.30.

CoffeeCreamandSugar · 17/12/2020 10:12

Argh why is it when you want them to leak information they don’t? Lol

RedToothBrush · 17/12/2020 11:06

Lancashire are saying theyve been told they will stay in T3 (via bbc)

RedToothBrush · 17/12/2020 11:24

Rumour is T3 still for Manchester with no change. Overall its being expected the government are coming down on the side of caution.

Distinct lack of leaks this week (which in itself tends to suggest no changes).

Hoppinggreen · 17/12/2020 12:07

Our area has had one of the largest falls in cases in the country
We will stay in T3 though I reckon because it’s Yorkshire and Boris doesn’t give a shit

RedRiverShore · 17/12/2020 12:09

I think Northants is still tier 2, I didn't here it mentioned, I hope that's right

New Tier Map.

SomewhereEast · 17/12/2020 12:11

We're in a part of Yorkshire where infection rates have gone down & down & down steadily, as they have in our nearest major city. We're now lower than many areas were when they were put into tier 2 a fortnight ago. But no, still tier 3. Its completely demoralising. Tier 3 achieves fuck all without widespread public compliance, which they're not going to get if it just feels like an interminable purgatory with no means of escape.

Yes, this is ridiculous. I am really annoyed.

The government gives no fucks about the north. And, no, I didn't vote for them.

Ragwort · 17/12/2020 12:15

Our area has gone down to Tier 1 - teenage DS delighted !

Hardbackwriter · 17/12/2020 12:16

Did they really not manage to find anywhere in the north to drop down?! I know that it shouldn't be done by political considerations but COME ON it looks so bad!

middleager · 17/12/2020 12:16

It gives no fucks for the Midlands either. Poor Leicester has been in lockdown since March.

Delatron · 17/12/2020 12:17

I’m so cross they haven’t reviewed the northern areas with low rates. How demoralising to be endlessly in tier 3. Compliance will drop now I bet but that doesn’t help hospitality.
